Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji keberadaan dan distribusi mikroplastik di muara dan sepanjang Sungai Musi di Sumatera Selatan, Indonesia—suatu kawasan yang terdampak berat oleh pencemaran industri, domestik, dan pertanian. Sampel diambil dari lima stasiun, dengan hasil menunjukkan rata-rata konsentrasi mikroplastik sebesar 33,8 partikel/m3. Konsentrasi tertinggi ditemukan di pertemuan Sungai Upang, kemungkinan akibat limpasan perkotaan dan buangan industri, sementara konsentrasi terendah terdeteksi di sekitar Jembatan Ampera dan Pulau Kemaro, di mana turbulensi air lokal dapat mendorong terjadinya sedimentasi mikroplastik. Mikroplastik yang teridentifikasi didominasi oleh fragmen (77,5%) dan serat (22,5%), dengan sebagian besar partikel berada dalam kisaran ukuran 301–500 µm. Jenis polimer yang paling dominan adalah Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), yang umumnya berasal dari limbah kemasan konsumen. Temuan ini menegaskan peran Sungai Musi sebagai jalur transportasi mikroplastik dari daratan menuju ekosistem laut, yang berpotensi menimbulkan risiko besar terhadap keanekaragaman hayati akuatik dan rantai makanan. Selain merusak habitat perairan, mikroplastik juga dapat menjadi media pembawa logam berat dan zat beracun lainnya, sehingga memperparah dampak ekologisnya.

Abstract

Abstract: This community service aims to provide understanding and internalization of the values of Eid al-Adha to Muslims, especially in the context of the slaughter of sacrificial animals carried out by Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail. This community service initiative is considered important due to the phenomenon of society being trapped in patterns of animalistic behavior, such as the ruthless and oppressive nature of wolves, the cunning of rats, the deceitful nature of dogs, and the slave-like mentality of sheep. The community service initiative was implemented using a service-learning approach with a lecture method. The results of this service show positive changes in perspective and behavior, reflected in increased religious devotion and better control of negative behavior in daily life. The activity is considered effective in strengthening religious understanding, building awareness, and promoting the values contained in Eid al-Adha.Abstrak: Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman dan internalisasi nilai-nilai Iduladha kepada umat Islam, terutama dalam konteks penyembelihan hewan kurban yang dilakukan oleh Nabi Ibrahim dan Ismail. Pengambdian kepada masyarakat ini dianggap penting karena fenomena masyarakat yang sudah terjebak dalam pola hidup karakter bahimiah, seperti karakter serigala yang kejam dan menindas, tikus yang licik, anjing yang penuh tipu muslihat, dan domba yang bermental budak. Metode pengabdian dilaksanakan menggunakan pendekatan service learning dengan metode ceramah. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan perubahan pandangan dan perilaku positif yang tercermin dalam peningkatan ketaatan beribadah dan pengendalian perilaku negatif dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.. Kegiatan dianggap efektif dalam memperkuat pemahaman agama, membangun kesadaran, dan mempromosikan nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam Idul Adha.

Abstract

Kawasan Konservasi Pulau Gili Matra merupakan kawasan konservasi laut yang memiliki nilai ekologis tinggi sekaligus menjadi destinasi wisata bahari unggulan di Nusa Tenggara Barat. Tingginya aktivitas wisata bahari di kawasan ini menuntut adanya pengelolaan yang berorientasi pada konservasi dan keberlanjutan dengan melibatkan masyarakat lokal sebagai mitra strategis. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas kelompok masyarakat penyelam dalam mengenali, mendata, dan memetakan satwa laut dilindungi sebagai upaya mendukung konservasi laut berbasis masyarakat. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada periode Juli–Agustus 2025 dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tahap sosialisasi, pelatihan teknis identifikasi dan pendataan, penerapan teknologi dan pemetaan sederhana, pendampingan menjadi pemandu wisata konservasi, serta evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat penyelam terhadap pentingnya konservasi satwa laut dilindungi, yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan nilai pemahaman dari 42% menjadi 85%. Selain itu, peserta mampu memanfaatkan teknologi sederhana untuk pendataan dan pemetaan satwa laut dilindungi, serta sebagian peserta mampu berperan sebagai pemandu wisata konservasi. Kegiatan ini juga menghasilkan pembentukan kelompok kerja Citizen Science sebagai dasar keberlanjutan program. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan pengabdian ini berhasil memperkuat peran masyarakat penyelam sebagai mitra konservasi dan mendukung pengelolaan kawasan konservasi di Gili Matra secara partisipatif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Graphical Abstract Highlight Research 1. A total of 258 MP in the sediments of the Northern Natuna Sea were identified from eight observation stations with abundances ranging from 400 to 1020 pieces/kg (average 645 ± 199.64 pieces/kg) (dry weight: dw). 2. Fiber and fragment MP were the most commonly found (58% and 40%, respectively), followed by pellets (2%). 3. In terms of color, transparent MP were the most abundant (48%), followed by black (27%), orange (14%), blue (8%), turquoise green (2%), and white (1%). 4. MP in the Northern Natuna Sea range in size from 70 to 6400 μm with an average size of 845.31 μm, where the most abundant size is found in the 500 – 1000 µm range (30%), followed by sizes > 1000 µm (26%); while sizes of 300 – 500 µm and < 300 µm were each found at 22%. 5. MP fibers based on depth show an increase in percentage with increasing depth in the Northern Natuna Sea. 6. The average size of MP decreases with increasing depth in the Northern Natuna Sea, where at a depth of < 110 m the average reaches 1156.57 µm, at a depth of 110 – 120 m it reaches 830.17 µm at a depth of 120 – 130 m, and 754.77 µm at a depth of > 130 m. 7. The diversity of MP types in the sediments of the Northern Natuna Sea according to observation stations shows that Station 1 is the location with the highest number of MP types (4 types: 7 fragment particles, 29 fiber particles, 1 foam particle, and 2 pellet particles); then according to depth, the highest number of MP types was found at a depth of 110 – 120 m (4 types: 13 fragment particles, 43 fiber particles, 1 foam particle, and 2 pellet particles). 8. The diversity of MP sizes according to observation stations showed that the highest number of sizes < 300 µm was found at Station 2 (13 particles) and the highest number of sizes > 1000 µm was found at Station 4 (13 particles); then according to depth, the highest number of sizes < 300 µm and > 1000 µm was found at a depth > 130 m (21 particles each). 9. The diversity of MP colors according to observation stations showed that the highest number of colors was found at Station 2 (7 colors: white 2 particles, black 13 particles, green 1 particle, blue 3 particles, orange 6 particles, turquoise 1 particle, and transparent 25 particles); while according to depth, the highest number of colors was found at a depth of 120 – 130 m (6 colors: white 2 particles, black 21 particles, green 1 particle, blue 5 particles, orange 7 particles, turquoise green 1 particle, and transparent 35 particles).   Abstract Many studies on microplastics have been conducted by experts. However, little is known about microplastics in the sediments of the Northern Natuna Sea. For a comprehensive understanding of global microplastic pollution, the quantity of microplastics in the sediments of the North Natuna Sea is crucial to study. This study was conducted at 8 stations with the aim of determining the presence of microplastics in sediments in the Northern Natuna Sea. A total of 50 gr of sediment samples that had been dried, homogenized, and sieved were subjected to density separation and then allowed to settle for 12 hours, after which the microplastics floated and were collected using a vacuum pump or filter paper. Sediment samples were analyzed for microplastic abundance, type, size, and color distribution using ANOVA, Spearman's correlation, cluster analysis, non-metric Multidimensional Scaling (nMDS), and PERMANOVA. The average microplastic abundance was found to be 645 ± 199.64 pieces/kg and the diversity index was classified as high, with no significant difference in the diversity index between depths, indicating diversity in microplastics and that their input also came from many sources. At a depth of 110 – 120 m, fiber microplastics were found to be very high; then at a depth of > 130 m, microplastics measuring < 300 and > 1000 µm were found to be very high; while at a depth of 120 – 130 m, a high number of colored microplastics were found. Microplastic distribution in the North Natuna Sea is primarily influenced by human activities, with their abundance showing a strong correlation with the distance from the coastline. Microplastic size decreases with increasing depth, while microplastic fibers increase with increasing depth. This study found that complex sources of microplastics have polluted the Northern Natuna Sea, with human activity being the biggest influence, thus requiring serious attention.

Abstract

Logam berat merupakan salah satu komponen bahan pencemar yang umum dijumpai di perairan. Informasi tentang logam berat Nikel (Ni) dan Seng (Zn) di air dan sedimen Sungai Musi bagian hilir masih sangat terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan logam berat Ni dan Zn pada air dan sedimen yang dipengaruhi aktivitas antropogenik di Sungai Musi bagian hilir. Pengambilan sampel dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret, September dan November di sepanjang Sungai Musi Bagian Hilir yang dibagi menjadi 3 zona penelitian atau 11 stasiun. Sampel air dan sedimen dianalisa merujuk pada metode USEPA 30050B dan dianalisa menggunakan AAS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi logam berat dalam air berkisar berkisar antara 0,003-0,005 mg/L untuk logam Ni dan 0,002-0,017 mg/L untuk logam Zn. Adapun konsentrasi logam berat dalam sedimen ditemukan lebih tinggi yaitu 42,63-74 mg/Kg untuk logam Ni dan 10,33-20,56 mg/Kg untuk logam Zn. Secara keseluruhan konsentrasi logam berat Ni dan Zn dalam sampel air dan Zn dalam sedimen masih dibawah baku mutu, namun konsentrasi logam Ni dalam sampel sedimen telah melebihi baku mutu yang menjadi rujukan. Secara keseluruhan tidak terdapat perbedaan konsentrasi logam Ni maupun Zn baik pada sampel air maupun sampel sedimen antar 3 zona pengamatan.

Abstract

Despite the ecological and economic significance of coral reefs, quantitative data on how water quality parameters regulate zooxanthellae density in anthropogenically impacted tropical reefs remain limited. This study investigated the influence of water quality parameters on zooxanthellae density in branching corals at Pahawang Island, Lampung, Indonesia, across four stations representing different levels of human disturbance: dock area (Station 1), floating net cages area (Station 2), recreational area (Station 3), and a relatively pristine area (Station 4). Coral fragments were collected by SCUBA diving at 2–5 m depth, and zooxanthellae were extracted by homogenization followed by centrifugation, with cell density quantified using a hemocytometer under light microscopy. Physical and chemical water quality parameters were measured in situ using a CTD profiler, while nutrient concentrations were analyzed according to SNI protocols. Zooxanthellae density ranged from 16,822 to 22,227 cells/cm², indicating a healthy symbiotic status across all stations. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) identified dissolved oxygen (5.5–6.4 mg/L), depth (2.20–4.10 m), and water clarity (2.0–3.0 m) as the primary environmental drivers of zooxanthellae density variation, while temperature, pH, and salinity remained stable and within coral-suitable ranges. Hydrodynamic conditions and oxygen availability, rather than nutrient enrichment, appear to be the dominant regulators of zooxanthellae density at this site. These findings highlight the need for site-specific management strategies that prioritize maintaining dissolved oxygen levels and water circulation, and provide a scientific basis for developing zoning policies in coral ecotourism areas of Pahawang Island to ensure long-term reef ecosystem health.
