Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of local microorganism level (MOL) in the manufacture of dry kume grass amofer on the content of dry matter, organic matter, digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in vitro. The method used in this study was an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment applied was: P0 = Ammoniated dry kume grass + 5% putak flour + 5% sugar; P1= P0 + 40 ml MOL; P2= P0 + 80 ml MOL; P3= P0 + 120 ml MOL  The variables measured were the contents of dry matter, organic matter, dry matter and organic matter digestibility. Data were analyzed using Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's multiple range test. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the treatments had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the dry matter contents, digestibility of the dry matter and organic matter in vitro. It was concluded that the use of local microorganism levels in the ammoniation of dry kume grass fermentation could increase dry and organic matter, dry and organic matter digestibility in vitro.

Abstract

Concentrate is needed as additional feed to supplement deficiencies in forage and to support optimal growth and productivity of goats. The problem is that concentrate source materials are expensive, so to anticipate this problem, cow rumen waste is used as an alternative feed ingredient in concentrate. This study aimed to evaluate the use of cow rumen silage as an alternative feed ingredient in concentrates on crude protein consumption and digestibility and efficiency protein ratio in local male goats. The study was carried out in the laboratory goat pen Faculty Field Farm Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Nusa Cendana University Research was done in an experimental use Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications, namely T0: Kume grass hay 70%+30% Concentrate (without silage containing cow rumen contents), T1: Kume Grass hay 70%+30% Concentrate (concentrate containing 10% silage cow rumen contents), T2: Kume Grass hay 70%+ Concentrate 30% (concentrate containing 20% silage cow rumen contents) and T3: Kume Grass Hay 70%+ Concentrate 30% (concentrate containing 30% silage cow rumen contens). Data obtained was analyzed using Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA). Analysis shows that giving silage contents of the cow's rumen content up to 30% effect no significant (P>0.05) to crude protein consumption, crude protein digestibility, and efficiency protein ratio. It was concluded that using concentrate with cow rumen contents in goat rations at 30% does not significantly affect to protein utilization by local male goats.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the content and digestibility of the rumen contents of Bali Timor cattle at two different Slaughterhouses (RPH), Bimoku and Aldia, Kupang, using in vitro methods. The research employed an experimental method designed with an analysis using the T-test (comparison test). A total of 15 female Bali Timor cattle from each slaughterhouse were used as replicates (n). The variables observed were the content and digestibility of dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM). Data were analyzed using the independent sample t-test at a 5% significance level to compare the rumen contents quality of RPH Bimoku and RPH CV Aldia. The T-test results showed that the dry matter (DM) content at RPH CV Aldia was significantly (p > 0.05) higher than that at RPH Bimoku; organic matter (OM) at RPH CV Aldia was highly significant (p > 0.01) higher than that at RPH Bimoku; the digestibility of dry matter (DMD) and organic matter (OMD) at RPH CV Aldia was highly significant (p > 0.01) higher than that at RPH Bimoku. It is concluded that the difference in slaughterhouse location causes differences in the content of dry matter, organic matter, and their digestibility in the rumen contents of Bali Timor cattle.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of cattle rumen content silage (IRS) incubation duration on dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) content, as well as in vitro dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility (OMD). The research was motivated by the potential of IRS as a nutritious alternative feed, which is constrained by its high moisture content (80-90%) and low palatability. The experimental method employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four incubation treatments (4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks) and four replications. The silage was formulated from a mixture of IRS (60%), rice bran (35%), palm sugar (5%), and 40 mL of Local Microorganisms (MOL: rumen fluid + young coconut water) as an activator. Digestibility was measured using the Tilley and Terry (1963) method, and statistical analysis was conducted with ANOVA followed by Duncan’s test. Results showed that 6 weeks of incubation (P2) reduced OM content by 12% (from 86.78% to 75.98%) while significantly increasing DMD (from 53.59% to 58.98%) and OMD (from 48.78% to 52.15%) (P<0.05). Prolonged incubation beyond 6 weeks (P3-P4) did not further improve digestibility due to substrate nutrient limitations. In conclusion, a 6-week incubation period optimizes in vitro IRS silage digestibility without excessive nutrient loss, demonstrating its potential as a sustainable feed processing strategy for livestock farming in arid regions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas fisik silase pemi rumput kume (sorghum plumosum var. timorenese) dengan penambahan level mikroorganisme lokal (MOL) yang berbeda. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari 4 perlakuan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diterapkan yaitu P0= rumput kume + filtra tabu sekam padi (FASP); P1= P0 + 40 ml MOL, P2= P0 + 80 ml MOL, P3= P0 + 120 ml MOL. Variabel yang diukur adalah kualitas fisik meliputi pH, tekstur, warna, aroma dan jamur. Kualitas fisik diamati menggunakan petunjuk skor uji organoleptik dari 15 orang panelis. Data organoleptik dianalisis menggunakan Kruskal-Wallis Test, pH diamati menggunakan pH meter dan datanya dianalisis menggunakan Analisis of Variance (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukan perlakuan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P0,001) terhadap variabel pH, warna dan jamur. Sedangkan tekstur dan aroma memberikan hasil yang sama. Disimpulkan bahwa dengan meningkatnya level mikroorganisme lokal (MOL) memberikan pengaruh yang baik terhadap kualitas fisik silase pemi rumput kume yaitu terjadi penurunan nilai pH, perubahan warna dan silase tidak berjamur sedangkan tekstur dan aroma sama untuk semua perlakuan. Penambahan level MOL 40 ml dalam pembuatan silase pemi rumput kume (sorghum plumosum var. timorenese) menghasilkan kualitas fisik silase pemi terbaik.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanasan tepung bonggol pisang dengan kadar urea yang berbeda terhadap karakteristik fisik produk yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan dan empat kali ulangan. P0 = 300 g tepung bonggol pisang tanpa urea, P1 = 300 g tepung bonggol pisang + 2% urea, P2 = 300 g tepung bonggol pisang + 4% urea, dan P3 = 300 g tepung bonggol pisang + 6% urea adalah perlakuan yang diuji. Karakteristik yang diukur meliputi berat jenis, kadar air, daya serap air, dan kelarutan dalam air. “Analisis varians (ANOVA) dan uji jarak berganda Duncan untuk menguji data. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa pemanasan tepung bonggol pisang dengan kadar urea 6% tidak berpengaruh signifikan (P0,05) terhadap kepadatan curah, namun berpengaruh sangat signifikan (P0,01) terhadap kadar udara, daya serap udara dan kelarutan dalam udara.” Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pemanasan tepung bonggol pisang dengan urea 6% menghasilkan perubahan yang baik pada kelarutan udara, kadar air, dan daya serap.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penggunaan sumber karbohidrat mudah larut sebagai aditif pada pembuatan silase isi rumen sapi terhadap komponen serat (NDF, ADF, Selulosa, Hemiselulosa, dan lignin). Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Komponen penyusun silase isi rumen sapi adalah isi rumen sapi 100% + 5% gula lontar + 40 ml mikroorganisme lokal dan karbohidrat mudah larut sebagai perlakuan. Perlakuan tersebut adalah P1 : 35% dedak padi, P2 : 35% tepung bonggol pisang kepok, P3 : 35% pollard, P4 : 35% tepung putak. Variabel yang diukur adalah kandungan NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber), ADF ( Acid Detergent Fiber), selulosa, hemiselulosa dan lignin. Data dianalisis menggunakan analysis of variance (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan perlakuan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P0,01) terhadap kandungan NDF, ADF, dan selulosa, sedangkan kandungan lignin dan hemiselulosa tidak berpengaruh nyata (P0,05). Penggunaan sumber karbohidrat mudah larut pollard, putak dan dedak padi sebagai aditif sangat nyata (P0,01) lebih baik kandungan fraksi serat silase isi rumen sapi dibandingkan penggunaan tepung bonggol pisang. Disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan sumber karbohidrat mudah larut dari pollard, putak dan dedak padi dalam pembuatan silase isi rumen sapi memberikan hasil yang baik dalam menurunkan kandungan NDF, ADF, dan selulosa silase isi rumen sapi.

Abstract

Peningkatan produktivitas sapi di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) menghadapi kendala utama dalam ketersediaan pakan berkualitas, terutama pada musim kemarau yang berkepanjangan. Kurangnya pasokan hijauan segar dan tingginya biaya pakan komersial menjadi tantangan yang signifikan bagi peternak lokal. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, keterampilan, dan kemandirian peternak di Kelompok Ternak Amnela Bubuk, Kota Kupang, melalui penerapan teknologi pakan lokal berbasis limbah pertanian dan hijauan lokal yang tersedia di sekitar lingkungan mereka. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan mencakup penyuluhan, pelatihan teknis, serta demonstrasi lapang mengenai pemanfaatan jerami padi amoniasi sebagai sumber serat, dan penyusunan ransum seimbang dengan penambahan pakan konsentrat berbasis bahan lokal. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam hal penyediaan dan pengelolaan pakan secara lebih efisien dan berkelanjutan. Penerapan teknologi ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan produktivitas ternak, efisiensi biaya produksi, serta pendapatan peternak. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga memperkuat kapasitas kelompok ternak dalam mengembangkan usaha peternakan yang adaptif terhadap kondisi lokal dan mendukung ketahanan pangan wilayah.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the chemical quality and fermentability of the rumen contents of female Bali Timor cattle in vitro. This research used an experimental method with T-test analysis (comparative test). The number of samples for each was 15 female Timor Bali cattle as replicates, taken from two different slaughterhouses, namely Bimoku abattoir (government-owned) and Aldia Oben abattoir (privately owned). The variables observed were crude protein, crude fiber content, and concentrations of VFA and NH3. The data obtained were analyzed using a T-test (independent sample t-test) at a significance level of 5%, namely comparing the quality of the cattle rumen contents of Bimoku and Oben abbatoir. All data were processed with SPSS 25 software. The statistical analysis results of the t-test showed that the crude protein content and concentration of NH3 of the two locations was not significantly different (P> 0.05), the crude fiber content of Bimoku RPH was significantly higher (P<0.05) than RPH Oben, and VFA concentration from RPH Oben was significantly (P<0.05) higher than Bimoku RPH. It was concluded that differences in abattoir management before slaughtering affected the quality of the rumen contents of female Timor Bali cattle

Abstract

Abstrak Persepsi masyarakat kelompok tannin Amnelabubuk, kelurahan Naioni Kota Kupang tentang pemanfaatan pakan konsentrat dalam ransum ternak sapi masih rendah. Pengenalan teknologi pemanfaatan pakan konsentrat merupakan suatu inovasi yang diharapkan dapat diadopsi dengan baik oleh masyarakat peternak. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan tujuan meningkatnya pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat kelompok tani Amnelabubuk memanfaatkan pakan konsentrat dalam meningkatkan produktivitas ternak sapi yang dipelihara. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi penyuluhan dan pelatihan pakan konsentrat dalam ransum ternak sapi. Masyarakat peserta kegiatan sangat antusias dan mebuka diri untuk menerima inovasi baru dalam meningkatkan produktivitas ternak sapi yang dipeliharanya. Partisipasi aktif dan kemauan merubah pola pikir dan tingkahlaku setelah menerima transfer informasi dan teknologi yang disampaikan akan meningkatkan produktivitas usaha dan keuntungan ekonomi dari usaha pemeliharaan ternak sapi. Abstract Public perception of the farmers group of Amnelabubuk, Naioni Village, Kupang City regarding the use of concentrate feed in cattle rations is still low. The introduction of concentrate feed utilization technology is an innovation that is expected to be well adopted by the farming community. This community service activity is carried out with the aim of increasing the knowledge and understanding of the Amnelabubuk farmer group community using concentrate feed in increasing the productivity of the cattle that are kept. Activities carried out include counseling and training on concentrate feed in cattle rations. The community participating in the activity were very enthusiastic and open themselves to accept new innovations in increasing the productivity of the cattle they raise. Active participation and willingness to change mindsets and behavior after receiving the transfer of information and technology conveyed will increase business productivity and economic benefits from cattle raising business.
