Abstract

The incidence of hypertension at the Tadoy Community Health Center was 29.4%. Based on the Tadoy Community Health Center Report in 2023, there were 78 cases of hypertension in pregnant women, dominated by pregnant women with HDK (50%). The short-term impact of hypertension during pregnancy can affect both the mother and the fetus. In addition to medication, therapy for pregnant women with hypertension can be given by soaking the feet in warm water and regularly consuming Ambon bananas. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of warm water therapy and Ambon banana consumption on reducing blood pressure in pregnant women with hypertension. This type of research used a qualitative research method with a case study approach. This activity was carried out on two pregnant women with hypertension at the Tadoy Community Health Center. Providing warm water therapy was effective in reducing blood pressure in pregnant women from 150/90 mmHg at the first visit to 130/85 mmHg at the second visit and to 120/75 mmHg. Consuming bananas was also effective in reducing blood pressure from 150/90 mmHg at the first visit to 140/90 mmHg at the second visit and to 120/80 mmHg. There was a difference in effectiveness between warm water therapy and consuming Ambon bananas in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive pregnant women, where warm water therapy was more effective than Ambon bananas in lowering blood pressure. It is hoped that the results of this study can help lower blood pressure by soaking feet in warm water, so that pregnant women can do it independently and can reduce risks in pregnancy.

Abstract

Congenital hypothyroidism is a condition of decreased or non-functioning thyroid gland that is present since newborns. This occurs due to anatomical abnormalities or metabolic disorders of thyroid hormone formation or iodine deficiency. Congenital Hypothyroidism Screening (CHS) is an important health program that aims to detect thyroid disorders early in newborns. Congenital Hypothyroidism Screening is a screening/screening test to sort out babies suffering from Congenital Hypothyroidism from babies who do not suffer. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on pregnant women's knowledge about congenital hypothyroidism screening (CHS). This study used a Pre-Experimental Design with a One Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. The sample consisted of 56 pregnant women with sampling using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test. The results of the study obtained that most of the respondents' knowledge before being given the intervention was in the sufficient category (42.9%). While most of the knowledge after being given the intervention was in the good category (78.6%). The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.00 < 0.05, indicating an effect of health education on knowledge about congenital hypothyroidism (CHS) screening among pregnant women at the Pulisan Community Health Center. This study is expected to provide input to pregnant women, who should be more critical, especially regarding indicators of understanding, examination timing, and the impact of not undergoing CHS. They can frequently read the KIA book and leaflets provided during counseling sessions to gain better and more quality knowledge.

Abstract

Labor is the process of uterine contractions and cervical dilation until the baby is born. Prolongation of the active phase of the first stage increases the risk of complications, necessitating non-pharmacological interventions such as acupressure at the LI4 (Hegu) point. This study aimed to determine the effect of LI4 acupressure point stimulation on the duration of the first stage of labor in the active phase among primigravida mothers at TPMB Masturoh, Tajinan District, Malang Regency. This research used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design employing a posttest-only control group design. The sample consisted of 20 respondents divided into two groups: an intervention group of 10 respondents who received LI4 acupressure stimulation and a control group of 10 respondents who received standard midwifery care. The instrument used was an observation sheet to record the duration of the first stage of labor in the active phase from cervical dilation of 4 cm to 10 cm. Data analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the median duration of the active phase of the first stage of labor in the intervention group was 54.0 minutes, while in the control group it was 61.5 minutes. The Mann-Whitney U test showed a p-value of 0.034 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of LI4 acupressure stimulation on shortening the duration of the active phase of the first stage of labor. LI4 acupressure stimulation can be used as a complementary non-pharmacological therapy to help accelerate the labor process and improve maternal comfort during childbirth.

Abstract

Anxiety in primigravida pregnant women in the third trimester often occurs due to unpreparedness for childbirth and concerns about the condition of the fetus. Significant physical and psychological changes during pregnancy can trigger feelings of fear and excessive anxiety that affect the health of both the mother and the fetus. Non-pharmacological interventions such as instrumental music relaxation and positive affirmations are known to be effective in reducing anxiety, but the combination of the two has rarely been studied. This study aims to analyze the effect of instrumental music relaxation techniques with positive affirmations on the anxiety levels of primigravida pregnant women in their third trimester. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The study was conducted in Malang Regency with a sample size of 20 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and analyzed using the Paired t-test. The results showed a decrease in the average anxiety score from 21.55 ± 3.47 (pretest) to 16.45 ± 2.65 (posttest) with a p-value < 0.001. It was concluded that instrumental music relaxation techniques with positive affirmations had a significant effect on reducing anxiety levels in primigravida pregnant women in their third trimester.

Abstract

Background : Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a common condition affecting women of reproductive age, marked by a variety of physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms that typically arise a few days before menstruation and diminish afterward. While the exact cause remains uncertain, hormonal fluctuations throughout the menstrual cycle are believed to be a key factor. Management strategies for PMS include both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches, one of which is soy milk consumption. Soy milk contains isoflavones, naturally occurring plant compounds that mimic estrogen activity and may help ease PMS symptoms. This study seeks to examine the impact of soy milk consumption on alleviating PMS symptoms in adolescent girls.. Methods : The research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, conducted from March 3 to 17, 2025. A total of 18 participants were selected using purposive sampling, and the sample size was determined using the Federer formula. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test with SPSS version 16.0. Results of the Paired T-test showed that the p-value ≤ α (0.05), namely 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Conclusion : The data indicates that the administration of soy milk has an effect in reducing premenstrual syndrome symptoms in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Background : Cognitive abilities represent a fundamental component of mental functions, encompassing processes such as perception, thinking, memory, and information processing. These cognitive functions are essential in facilitating individuals to acquire knowledge, address challenges, and formulate future plans. Data from UNICEF (2022) reveals that children aged 36–59 months across the globe continue to face challenges in their cognitive development. In Indonesia, about 7.51% of children under the age of five exhibit signs of developmental delays. Additionally, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported in 2020 that approximately 60% of preschool-aged children in the country experience issues related to cognitive development. One effective and enjoyable approach to stimulate cognitive growth in early childhood is through the use of educational games. Among these, the giant snakes and ladders game has been recognized for its potential to enhance cognitive functioning in young children. Research Methods : This research utilized a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Participants were selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined criteria. Data collection was carried out using structured observation sheets, and the results were analyzed through a paired sample t-test. Abstract

The Family Planning (FP) program is a government initiative to control population growth through the use of long-term contraceptive methods, including implant contraception. However, fear and anxiety regarding pain during implant insertion often become barriers for acceptors. This study aimed to determine the effect of slow deep breathing relaxation techniques on anxiety levels of women during implant insertion at TPMB Afita Delianah, Turen, Malang Regency. A quantitative quasi-experimental study with a Nonequivalent Control Group design was conducted with 32 respondents divided equally into an intervention group and a control group. The intervention group received slow deep breathing exercises for 15 minutes before implant insertion, while the control group did not receive any intervention. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) before and after the intervention. Data analysis included Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired t-test, Levene’s homogeneity test, and Independent Sample T-Test. Results showed that before the intervention, the mean anxiety score of the intervention group was 28.75 and the control group was 27.88. After the intervention, the intervention group’s anxiety score significantly decreased to 20.00, while the control group only decreased to 27.13. Independent Sample T-Test results indicated that the reduction in anxiety was significantly greater in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that slow deep breathing relaxation is effective in reducing anxiety during implant insertion. This technique can serve as a practical, safe, and applicable non-pharmacological strategy in midwifery practice to enhance women’s psychological comfort during reproductive health procedures.
