Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is an uncomfortable sensation in the form of acute pain in the fifth lumbar vertebra and first sacrum (L5-S1). Half of the workers have complained of LBP, with a prevalence of LBP of 60-80%. Driving a vehicle can cause the back muscles to contract excessively, producing insufficient oxygen to support ATP production. The muscles then switch to anaerobic metabolism with the end product, lactic acid. The accumulated lactic acid then stimulates the nociceptors causing LBP. The existence of a daily achievement target system also causes drivers to insist on being able to complete many trips in one day, so drivers often ignore rest and working hours. The relationship between lactic acid levels and the incidence of low back pain in taxi drivers X Pekanbaru. This study used an observational analytic method, a cross-sectional, with the sampling technique used was total sampling, tested statistically using fisher exact. There is a relationship between lactic acid levels and the incidence of low back pain in taxi drivers X Pekanbaru (p-value = 0.000). Lactic acid levels are associated with low back pain in taxi drivers X Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Occupational accidents are unexpected events, without intentional elements, causing workers to be in danger, cause disrupting work activities, and resulting in losses, injuries, illnesses, and damages. The International Labor Organization (ILO) reports that 2.3 million people die each year cause of work accidents. Indonesia is in the fifth rank of deaths due to work accidents in Southeast Asia. Occupational accidents in the industrial sector are in second place. Many factors cause work accidents, one of which is psychosocial factors. Palm Oil Mill PT. X is an industrial company engaged in the processing of palm oil. Workers come into contact with chemicals and are associated with stressors in the social environment of the workplace that can trigger work accidents. The initial surveys were conducted on 30 workers at PKS PT. X obtained 90% of work accidents. This study used an analytic observational design, with a cross-sectional study design. The study aimed to determine the relationship between psychosocial factors and the incidence of work accidents among workers in the laboratory and PKS processing departments of PT. X. The results of the Pearson correlation test found that there was a relationship between psychosocial factors and the occurrence of work accidents in laboratory and processing workers at PT. X, Kampar Regency.

Abstract

Work fatigue is a condition caused by physical and mental activities that exceed capacity. According to National Safety Council data, > 60% of work accidents are caused by fatigue. In Indonesia, the agriculture, fisheries, plantation, and forestry sectors occupy the second position in the cause of work accidents. Work fatigue can be caused by both internal and external factors. Fatigue caused by external factors causes changes in the body's biochemical processes so that lactic acid builds up in the muscles. Initial survey on PT. X is located in Kampar Regency, information was obtained that there were cases of work accidents in harvesters which were mostly caused by work fatigue. Objective To determine the relationship between lactic acid levels and work fatigue in palm oil workers in PT. X Kampar Regency Methods This study was conducted using observational analytical methods, cross sectional research design. The sampling technique uses total sampling, as many as 114 samples have met the inclusion criteria. Bivariate analysis uses the Spearman test. Result p-value = 0.000; r = 0.607 with strong correlation strength and positive direction Conclusion There is a relationship between lactic acid levels and physical fatigue in harvesters

Abstract

Work fatigue is a physical condition that weakens workers, causing less than optimal work capacity and endurance. Lactic acid is produced from anaerobic metabolism or carbohydrate metabolism without oxygen. This happens because there is not enough oxygen to support muscle energy production. The body that cannot produce the amount of lactic acid that is comparable to the rate of its synthesis, then the muscle pH will decrease, this is what inhibits glycolysis enzymes resulting in physical fatigue. Physical fatigue is the effect of increased levels of lactic acid in the body, especially muscles. One of the jobs at PT. X in Kampar Regency that can cause work fatigue is a palm oil harvester. This study is an observational study type with a cross-sectional study design. Data were obtained using interviews using a BMI questionnaire. Data collection was also carried out to obtain BMI measurement data, pulse measurements, blood pressure measurements, and lactic acid measurements with Accutrend Plus Roche Brand on 138 harvesters at PT. X Kampar Regency. In this study, the independent variable is the level of lactic acid and the dependent variable is work fatigue. The results of the study showed that the harvesters who experienced moderate work fatigue were 13 people (11.4%). The harvesters who experienced high work fatigue were 54 people (47.4%). The harvesters who experienced very high work fatigue were 47 people (41.2%). The high proportion of workers who experienced high and very high work fatigue (88.6%) reflects the significant physical workload that must be faced by oil palm harvesters at PT. X. Harvesters with lactic acid levels <2 mmol/l (not increasing) were 13 people (11.4%) and harvesters with lactic acid levels> 2 mmol/l (increasing/hyperlactatemia) were 101 people (88.6%). From the results obtained, a significant increase in lactic acid levels in 88.6% of respondents indicated that most workers experienced higher muscle fatigue conditions during work with increased lactic acid levels.

Abstract

Abstract

Irritant Contact Dermatitis (ICD) is a common occupational health issue among palm oil harvesters, who are frequently exposed to irritants such as crude palm oil, fertilizers, and pesticides. ICD is characterized by inflammation of the skin resulting from direct contact with irritants that disrupt the skin barrier without involving an allergic response (Diepgen et al., 2016). This review systematically examines global research on ICD in palm oil harvesters, focusing on its etiology, pathophysiology, prevalence, risk factors, clinical manifestations, diagnostic approaches, and management strategies.
