Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine how co-teachers collaborate interdependently to make the science classroom inclusive for all students. Seven participants; two science teachers of School Smart; two science teachers of School Brainy; support teachers of School Smart and Brainy respectively; and Lily, the head of the inclusion program of School Brainy were selected purposively. As a qualitative description study, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and instructional document analysis. Data collected were analyzed through a deductive approach using co-teaching as a predetermined framework. The findings indicate that the co-teachers in two schools were teaching collaboratively through co-planning, co-instructing, and co-assessing. Co-teachers from both schools claimed that most of the time spent collaborating was on co-instruction rather than co-planning and co-assessment. In School Smart, the co-teaching between science and the support teacher, called an alternative teaching model, is operating more effectively in terms of planning, scheduled meetings to discuss instructional planning and its implementation compared to School Brainy. Co-teachers in School Smart work more interdependently and collaboratively than the co-teachers in School Brainy

Abstract

Previous research on poverty in rural areas of Indonesia has identified structural poverty as a significant underlying cause. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the internal and external factors contributing to poverty in rural Java. The study utilized quantitative research methods and was conducted in the Merah Village, Temanggung, Central Java, which was selected as a representative area falling within the national poverty threshold. The findings indicated that rural communities were confronted not only with structural poverty issues such as limited access to economic resources, education, and empowerment. In addition, cultural poverty further compounded the issue, as it was characterized by pervasive perceptions of subjective well-being among the rural communities, with a majority (81.7%) feeling poor and uncertain about finding a way out of their situation, while only a minority (18.3%) felt prosperous. The prevalent perception of cultural poverty is closely intertwined with the structural characteristics of Javanese society, particularly the concept of 'nerimo', which can be interpreted as the belief that poverty is a God-given destiny that cannot be rejected or altered.

Abstract

The Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) has been widely studied, but only a few have been found that integrate it with the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework. This study aims to develop the TPACK-UDL Scale to examine teacher’s knowledge of pedagogic, content, and technology related to inclusive science learning. The development of the scale refers to the eight development steps by DeVellis. After reviewing the constructs of TPACK and UDL, and examining for intersections between them, the next step was preparing the initial draft, which produced 60 items, which were divided into eight aspects (Pedagogical Knowledge/PK, Technological Knowledge/TK, Content Knowledge/CK, Technological Content Knowledge/TCK, Pedagogical Content Knowledge/PCK, Technological Pedagogical Knowledge/TPK, TPACK, and Inclusive Education Knowledge/IEK). Six-panel experts examined the initial draft of the TPACK-UDL Scale, focusing on the content and items construction. The panel experts’ feedback was used to revise the initial draft and produced the second draft. This draft was then tested on 42 science teachers who were randomly selected and asked for their willingness to fill out the scale voluntarily. Validity and reliability of the scale were tested using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. Several iterative stages of testing were conducted and produced a final 48 valid items with a Cronbach’s Alpha value > 0.8, ????A value > 0.8, and composite reliability > 0.9. Therefore, the TPACK-UDL Scale is valid and reliable for measuring teachers’ knowledge and abilities in designing inclusive science learning. Suggestions are made for the use of the TPACK-UDL scale from a practical and theoretical perspective for future research.

Abstract

Technology-based learning media is currently relevant for implementing the "Merdeka" Curriculum because it offers many advantages. Google sites are one of the alternative technology-based media that can be used by students for independent, interactive, accessible, and not limited by space and time learning. This study aims to develop, determine the quality and responses of students to google sites acid-base material which is made referring to the guided inquiry model. Thiagarajan, Semmel Semmel’s 4-D (define, design, develop and desiminate) development model—which is limited to the develop stage—is used as a google sites development procedure. Seven respondents (one media expert, one material expert and five chemistry teachers) were involved to assess the quality of google sites through the expert judgment method with a four-scale questionnaire instrument and 10 students were asked to be willing to respond to google sites with a Guttman scale questionnaire sheet. The results of the quality assessment of google sites show that this media has an excellent category with a percentage of ideal quality of 95.83% according to the material expert; 92.5% by the media expert, and 95.68% by chemistry teachers. The response of students to google sites is also positive with the acquisition of an ideal percentage of 91%. The results of expert assessments and student responses indicate that google sites have a potential effect to be used as a chemistry learning medium, helping students understand concepts as well as interactive learning media

Abstract

Human actions that exploit natural resources and the environment without limits have caused global conditions to become increasingly concerning. A lack of environmental awareness is also evident in students who neglect to care for and protect the environment, such as by littering. This issue requires serious attention and can be addressed by fostering an environmentally caring character through an integrated ethnoscience approach incorporating Islamic values. Ethnoscience-based learning, integrated with Islamic values, can be facilitated through an electronic student worksheet. This worksheet was designed to help students connect cultural elements with scientific concepts and the teachings of the Quran. Correspondingly, this study developed an electronic student worksheet using a 4D model, encompassing three stages: Define, Design, and Develop. Data from the product development and assessment process were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. The final product featured character education based on Islamic values. It received an “excellent” rating from material and media experts, while teachers and students responded positively to the media. Overall, this electronic worksheet could potentially improve environmental awareness and instill Islamic values in students.
