Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of project-based learning of Indonesian Literary History during the pandemic. This study uses quantitative-experimental research methods to be able to explore how effective this method is if implemented within the scope of learning. This method provides opportunities for lecturers to manage learning in class by involving project work. In this course, there are three work projects applied, namely: (1) students make infographics in groups which will be presented every meeting; (2) students make a book chapter which will later at the end of the semester be made into a book; and finally (3) students make a scientific publication in the form of journal articles which later must be submitted to national journals. The object of this research is a 2nd semester student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta. So, it can be concluded that the project method applied in learning literary history in the Modern Indonesian Literature History course Semester 2 of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta is an effective learning method applied during a pandemic.

Abstract

Religious intolerance is a significant problem in Indonesia. This concern arises along with offline learning activities. Students who were previously limited in their activities can now move freely on campus. The lack of insight into religious tolerance causes new individuals to become intolerant easily. The purpose of this article is to explain how to implement the values of religious tolerance through compulsory general Indonesian language courses. This research belongs to the descriptive qualitative type using a direct-action research approach. The stages of this research were carried out with the introduction of Indonesian language courses, the provision of semester learning plans, discussion of materials 1-13, and the implementation of religious moderation in short writing production material. The discovery learning model used is Jerome Bruner's theory. The media used as an analysis material is the Tanda Tanya film directed by Hanung Bramantyo. Respondents in this study were 105 people taken from various scientific backgrounds at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Random sampling aims to get natural results without any assumption of data manipulation and selection of data sources. This research was conducted in two stages, including first data collection, evaluation, and second data collection. It was found that the students of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta were able to find moderation values in the Tanda Tanya film. A total of 78 students have been able to analyze the meaning of religious moderation. Then, 14 students understood the meaning of moderation contained in the film through the discovery learning model.

Abstract

The Japanese occupation government in the Indonesia carried out propaganda using various media, including literature. The propaganda often depicts the condition of women at that time. This study examines the picture of women in the Japanese occupation that has been reflected in four novels published in two eras: during and after the Japanese occupation. Novels published during the Japanese occupation were Palawidja by Karim Halim and Cinta Tanah Air by Nur Sutan Iskandar. Meanwhile, the novels published after the Japanese occupation were Dan Perang pun Usai by Ismail Marahimin and Kembang Jepun by Remy Sylado. The novels were approached by the sociology of literature by Alan Swingewood and Diana Laurenson. The research prove that the four novels have a different picture of women in the Japanese occupation. Women in novels written during the Japanese occupation are described as having a fate full of suffering, for example, in the novels Kembang Jepun and Dan Perang pun Usai. Meanwhile, women in novels written after the Japanese occupation are described as having a luckier fate, as seen in Palawidja and Cinta Tanah Air. These depictions came to differences in the activities, authorship background, and time interval of the writing of the four authors.

Abstract

Climate change is a global issue that is of concern to the world. One of the impacts of climate change is sea level rise. Rising sea levels can cause tidal floods, especially in coastal areas. Based on data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), one evidence of climate change is an increase in sea level. Satellite altimetry measurements show a trend of sea level rise in Indonesia from 1992-2022 averaging around 4 mm/year. Rising sea levels have an impact on increasing the frequency of coastal flooding, retreating coastlines, and the disappearance of national borders. The city of Surabaya is one of the coastal cities in Indonesia which has the potential to experience an increase in the height of tidal floods due to climate change. The potential for tidal floods due to climate change could harm the spatial planning of coastal areas in Surabaya. The results of this research show that the coast of Surabaya has a moderate level of tidal flood vulnerability with an area of 8230.77 ha, a high category with an area of 1739.21 ha, and a very high category with an area of 178.13 ha. The area is dominant from most of the coast of the Semampir subdistrict to Benowo and the border of the Bulak and Mulyorejo subdistricts. Tidal floods can cause the submergence of productive lands, such as settlements, fish farms, and warehouses. This can cause economic and social losses for coastal communities. Therefore, adaptation efforts are needed to reduce the impact of tidal floods due to climate change. These adaptation efforts can be carried out through improving spatial planning and environmental planning for coastal areas.

Abstract

The application of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) is an important step in maintaining employees’ safety and health in their work environment. Even though BMKG is not involved in heavy industrial activities, there are still potential hazards and risks that need to be addressed in carrying out meteorological, climatological, and geophysical tasks. This study aims to describe the importance of implementing PPE in the BMKG environment, especially the Aviation Meteorological Station, where we took a case study at the Juanda Meteorological Station. First, we identify potential hazards that may be faced by BMKG employees, such as radiation risk, potential for hazardous gas explosions or fires, extreme weather conditions, and risks of physical injury. In the face of these risks, the use of proper PPE can help protect employees from hazardous exposures, and gas explosions and prevent injury. Next, we discuss the factors that need to be considered in implementing PPE at the BMKG. This includes a comprehensive risk assessment, identification of appropriate PPE for specific hazards, training of employees on the use and care of PPE, and regular monitoring and maintenance of the PPE used. Therefore, by implementing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, in this case, the application of PPE, BMKG can ensure that employees have a safe and healthy work environment, reduce the risk of work accidents, and comply with applicable regulations and standards related to work safety.

Abstract

Learning during the pandemic is changing from face-to-face to distance learning (PJJ). The system changes learning, including Indonesian language in universities, which has an impact on students and lecturers. For this reason, in addition to being supported by adequate infrastructure, PJJ must use an appropriate model so that learning is effective so that learning objectives are achieved. During the pandemic, Indonesian language learning at the Universtas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran  Jakarta used the project based learning model. With this model, not only learning becomes effective but also increases student creativity so that they can produce various products in the form of writings in scientific publications and various mass media articles. Each student is not only able to write one article but two or three articles during the lesson. This model is expected to continue to be used and developed so that Indonesian language learning becomes interesting and of high quality.
