Abstract

Introduction: Knowledge about reproductive health is very important for adolescents. They can make informed decision on their reproductive health. One of important media that serve as the source of information on reproductive health in adolescents is website. The objective of this study was to find out the relationship between the use of web-based information and knowledge about reproductive health in adolescents.Method: A Cross Sectional was conducted from February 2013 to April 2014, involving the Tenth and Eleventh Grade students of SMA, SMK, MA in Ponorogo Regency. The study was conducted in schools with computer facilities and internet connection, involving 210 adolescents, who were selected using Simple Random Sampling technique. The data was collected by questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted in univariate, bivariate with using Spearman Rank test, and multivariate ways using logistic regression test. Results: The study showed that mean website access frequency and duration for information about reproductive health by adolescents were 1.36 times a week and 1.65 hours; knowledge about reproductive health was 58,1% in low category; and no relationship was found between the use of web-based information system and knowledge about reproductive health in adolescents, even though there was an increasing trend in the frequency and duration of website visits for information related to reproductive health in adolescents.Discussion: The use of web-based information system does not have a significant relationship with knowledge about reproductive health in adolescents. Further research is necessary to explore the same subject with a different method, which is not selecting the respondents in the first meeting and use a closed questionnaire to select the respondents. This way, the adolescents will feel free and open to the researcher.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aimed to translate and validate the Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (SEQ-C) and its subscale for Indonesian adolescents, which has potential implications for bullying prevention. Methods: Cross-cultural adaptation was carried out using the Beaton guidelines. An assessment of psychometric testing was carried out during January and February 2024. The eligibility criteria for participants were students aged 13 to 15. Students who declined to participate were excluded. The research involved 120 children. Testing the questionnaire's structural factors used Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). IBM SPSS 25 and AMOS 29 were used for the analysis. Results: Following the criteria established for CFA, two items (ASE10 and SSE18) were eliminated due to their low factor loadings. This resulted in a refined SEQ-C structure of 22 items distributed across three factors. The alpha reliability coefficients showed robust internal consistency for the entire scale at first test and retest (α=0.884; α =0.911) and for each of the three subscales (all >0.80). The model fit indices indicated satisfactory values for the Comparative Fit Index (CFI)=0.906; Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA)=0.063; and the Minimum Discrepancy Function by Degrees of Freedom divided (CMIN/DF)=1.474). Conclusion: The SEQ-C emerges as a trustworthy and valid tool for evaluating self-efficacy across three key components: intellectual, social, and emotional. It can assess adolescent self-efficacy for research, education, and nursing interventions, as part of enhancing the life skills of adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Spiritual care for children is important in the care provided by nurses so that children do not feel guilty when being treated in the hospital. It is important for nurses to understand that the process of providing nursing care is bio-psycho-social and spiritual based. This study aimed to find out the relationship between knowledge, self-efficacy, and nurse behavior in the provision of spiritual care for school-age children in hospitals. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional approach with a purposive sampling technique followed by 102 nurses who cared for school-age children in a pediatric nursing room. Knowledge was measured using the Spiritual Care-Giving Scale, Self-Efficacy was measured by Burkhart Spiritual Care Inventory (BCI), and Nurse Spiritual Care Therapeutic Scale (NSCTS) to measure behavior. The data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and Spearman correlation test. Results: There was no significant correlation between knowledge and behavior (p = 0.181; r = 0.133);  however, there was  a significant correlation of nurse behavior with self-efficacy (p = 0.027; r = 0.219), age (p = 0.015; r = 0.240), length of work (p = 0.021; r = 0.228), and spiritual care training (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Knowledge does not have a significant relationship with behavior. However self-efficacy, age, length of work, and spiritual care training significantly affects the nurse's behavior in providing spiritual care to school-age children in the hospital.
