Abstract

The increase in population triggers demand for land for residence and other activities. Urban spatial planning often lags behind increasing physical development needs, causing uncontrolled expansion of urban development and causing limited green open space. Urban green open spaces are very important for environmental sustainability, including maintaining ecosystem balance, improving air quality, and providing social space. However, the allocation of green open space in the 2015-2035 Medan City spatial planning regulations is still below the 20% target, only reaching 11.10%. Conflicts regarding permits for the use of built-up land as green open space are a frequent problem. The disclosure of empirical facts about the dynamics of the implementation of the green open space plan in Medan City can be a more comprehensive input for the Medan City Government in the 2015-2035 Medan City RDTR Revision and become a consideration for the districts/other cities to plan green open space that is fair and provides additional insight for academics, practitioners and the general public. The research uses descriptive-qualitative methods on empirical facts with spatial exploration based on the Geographic Information System using the ArcGIS 10.8 application and the Google Maps Platform to identify and analyze the realization of the implementation of green open space plans which provide various empirical facts. Data analysis is carried out spatially through technical interpretation of satellite images and overlays on several spatial research themes. The results of this paper show that the green open space plan in Medan City is dominated by undeveloped land, such as 28.50% of ponds/ponds which are not land with green open space functions, and can create dynamics in the provision of green open space. Strategies for resolving green open space problems include optimizing land acquisition, controlling urbanization, regulating land price speculation, public education, and developing green open space to mitigate environmental impacts, and involve the formation of special teams, periodic evaluations, and strong public participation.

Abstract

The impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on economic stability in 8-EM muslim countries is enormous. The analysis forecasts how big of an impact it will have on the extent of the economic recession in the eight EM Muslim countries. The ARDL Panel is utilized in the data analysis model and the independent sample t-test model. As a result, the money supply flowing from all eight EM Muslim nations has a greater impact on economic stability and recession in Indonesia than it does in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan. Muslim emerging market countries that are very capable of controlling macroeconomic stability during the Covid-19 pandemic are Bangladesh, Indonesia with variable government expenditures, taxes, interest rates, money supply then Malaysia through tax policies and government expenditures, investment and money supply, UAE and Saudi Arabia policies stabilize the economy on tax variables, investments, money supply, Egypt and Turkey through money supply. Indonesia has the ability to control the economy through exchange rates. Bangladesh and Malaysia through the money supply. These results suggest that economic stability must be controlled hammering control over the money supply and exchange rate.

Abstract

The increasing population triggers a demand for land for housing and other activities. Along with this, issues arise regarding the limited availability of land, especially in rapidly developed areas. This limitation has the potential to create an imbalance between the growing need for space and the existing land capacity. This study evaluates the land carrying capacity in four sub-districts in the southern part of Medan City, namely Medan Tuntungan, Medan Johor, Medan Amplas, and Medan Denai, in dealing with the continuously growing population. Using a spatial analysis approach with ArcGIS 10.8 software and detailed spatial data, this research identifies potential areas for residential development and projects the capacity of land to accommodate future populations. The analysis covers physical and environmental aspects such as land slope, soil type, natural disaster risks, and access to public facilities. The results show that each sub-district has different potentials and challenges. Medan Tuntungan, with its large area and flat land conditions, shows significant potential for residential development, although attention must be given to the existence of protected areas and agricultural land that must be preserved. Medan Johor, as an economic center, faces substantial pressure on land use, with some areas nearing their maximum capacity. Medan Amplas and Medan Denai, which are more urban, experience stricter land limitations. Population growth projections indicate a significant increase in land demand in some sub-districts in the coming decades. Without effective management, this has the potential to exert high pressure on the environment and urban infrastructure. This research emphasizes the importance of spatial planning and sustainable development policies to maintain a balance between housing needs and environmental conservation.

Abstract

Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra Province, is an area with hilly topography, high rainfall, and significant land use changes. The flash floods that occurred in early 2025 in several sub-districts such as Pollung, Baktiraja, and Paranginan showed the vulnerability of this area to hydrometeorological disasters. This study aims to evaluate regional resilience planning through a SWOT analysis to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the disaster management system in the area. The methodology used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through field observations, interviews with stakeholders, and review of official documents such as RTRW, RPB, and disaster reports. The results show that the existence of regional regulations and community involvement are strengths, but weak spatial planning supervision and technical capacity are major weaknesses. Opportunities such as assistance from national programs and international cooperation face threats in the form of environmental degradation and climate change. Cross-sector integration, institutional strengthening, and a participatory approach are needed to build sustainable regional resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze landslide disaster resilience planning on Jalan Medan-Berastagi using the SWOT approach. The research method used is a case study with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that landslide resilience planning on Jalan Medan-Berastagi needs to consider strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Planning strategies that can be formulated based on the SWOT analysis include increasing coordination between agencies, adequate budget allocation, utilization of technology, increasing public awareness, development control, and adjustment of spatial plans. SWOT analysis is an effective tool in landslide resilience planning. Landslide resilience planning for the Medan-Berastagi Road needs to take into account existing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Planning strategies that can be formulated based on SWOT analysis include improving coordination between agencies, adequate budget allocation, utilization of technology, increasing public awareness, development control, and adjusting spatial plans. Local governments need to improve coordination between related agencies in handling landslides, and allocate adequate budget for landslide mitigation activities. The use of new technology for landslide monitoring and prediction also needs to be optimized, as well as increasing public awareness of landslide risks through socialization and education activities. Development control in landslide-prone areas needs to be tightened, as well as adjustments to regional spatial plans that are adaptive to landslide risks. In the context of identifying types of disaster threats and estimating their impact on the surrounding environment, a study conducted in Sukoharjo Village showed that disaster threats include flooding and household waste, while in Prambon Hamlet and Nitikan Hamlet, the main threat is landslides. The development of sustainable landslide mitigation infrastructure also needs to consider ecological aspects, by integrating nature-based solutions such as land cover vegetation and natural drainage systems. It is important to note that risk identification must be carried out comprehensively by involving a thorough understanding of the project scope, design and specification analysis, and consultation with related parties.(Tinambunan, 2024).
