Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of maharah kalam (Arabic speaking skills) instruction based on narrative texts and to examine its impact on students’ speaking ability and responses in Grade VII of SMP IT Al-FARABI. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of one Arabic language teacher and Grade VII students who participated in maharah kalam learning activities using narrative text media. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through technique and source triangulation.The findings indicate that the use of narrative text media is effective in improving students’ maharah kalam abilities. Improvements were observed in several aspects of speaking skills, including fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, intonation, and self-confidence. Vocabulary mastery and self-confidence showed the most significant improvement, while pronunciation and intonation improved at a moderate to high level. Furthermore, both teachers and students expressed positive responses toward the use of narrative texts, as this medium made the learning process more communicative, engaging, and encouraged students to be more active in speaking Arabic. Overall, narrative text media can serve as an effective alternative instructional strategy to enhance Arabic speaking skills at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Edutainment Word Search method assisted by puzzle media in improving Arabic learning outcomes, particularly vocabulary mastery, among fourth-grade students at MIN 6 Bandar Lampung. The main problem addressed in this study is the low level of students’ Arabic vocabulary mastery, which is influenced by less engaging and less interactive teaching methods. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach consisting of two cycles, each including the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed that the implementation of the method successfully improved both student participation and learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in learning mastery percentage. In the pre-cycle, the learning mastery percentage was 31.25%. It increased to 37.5% in Cycle I and significantly improved to 87.5% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that the applied method is effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes. Although vocabulary improvement was achieved, this study recommends that other language skills, such as writing and grammar, should also be emphasized in future Arabic language instruction. This study also provides opportunities for further development of similar methods at various educational levels. ABSTRAK enelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penerapan metode Edutainment Word Search dengan media puzzle dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar bahasa Arab, khususnya dalam penguasaan kosakata, di kelas IV MIN 6 Bandar Lampung. Fokus masalah penelitian ini adalah rendahnya penguasaan kosakata bahasa Arab siswa yang disebabkan oleh penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang kurang menarik dan kurang interaktif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus, yang masing-masing terdiri dari tahapan perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode ini berhasil meningkatkan partisipasi dan hasil belajar siswa, yang tercermin dari peningkatan persentase ketuntasan belajar. Pada pra-siklus, persentase ketuntasan belajar sebesar 31,25%. Pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 37,5%, dan pada siklus II meningkat secara signifikan menjadi 87,5%. Peningkatan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa metode yang diterapkan efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Meskipun peningkatan kosakata telah tercapai, penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar keterampilan lain, seperti menulis dan tata bahasa, juga diperhatikan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab di masa mendatang. Penelitian ini membuka peluang pengembangan lebih lanjut dalam penggunaan metode serupa di berbagai tingkat pendidikan.
