Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly transformed sociological research, necessitating a systematic analysis of its impact on social structures, inequalities, and digital adaptation; however, while bibliometric studies have examined pandemic-related research in public health and economics, few have focused on sociology, leaving a gap in understanding disciplinary shifts and emerging themes. This study addresses this gap by mapping the evolution of sociological research from the pandemic to the post-pandemic era (2019–2024) using bibliometric analysis to identify key trends, gaps, and intellectual foundations, employing data from 648 Scopus-indexed documents across four Asian countries analyzed through VOSviewer for co-citation and bibliographic coupling, which revealed thematic clusters and temporal trends. Key findings highlight dominant themes such as mental health, digital inequality, and educational adaptation, with Indonesia and Turkey as leading contributors, while psychological impacts and hybrid work systems emerged as critical areas, though marginalized populations remained underrepresented. The study underscores the need for inclusive digital policies, longitudinal mental health research, and ethical tech governance to address post-pandemic societal challenges, providing a foundation for future research to adopt cross-cultural and multidisciplinary approaches in navigating the complexities of post-pandemic sociological inquiry.

Abstract

This study aims to explore women's involvement in the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) from the perspective of their subjective experiences. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study involved eight female informants who actively play MLBB and have social experiences within the gaming community. The results show that women play four main roles: as active and strategic players, recipients of gender pressure, agents of resistance and adaptation, and representative symbols within the community. Despite facing various forms of discrimination and symbolic violence, the informants are able to navigate these challenges through contextual strategies of resistance and adaptation. These findings support theories of social construction and gender performativity and emphasize the importance of digital space as an arena for negotiating gender identity.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the social construction of spinsterhood among the Pekal Tribe, who predominantly inhabit Napal Putih in North Bengkulu Regency. The research investigates the socio-cultural meanings attached to unmarried women of a certain age and their implications for women's social status and mental well-being in the community. Utilizing a qualitative approach and a case study method, the study involved five Pekalese women—both married and unmarried—as primary informants. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, and validated using source triangulation. The analysis followed the Miles and Huberman framework, involving data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that being labeled a spinster is associated with negative connotations in Pekal society, driven by patriarchal culture, limited educational awareness, economic hardship, and strong societal expectations that women marry before the age of 25. These factors collectively shape a perception that unmarried women are socially undesirable. Applying Berger and Luckmann’s Social Construction Theory, the study illustrates how societal norms are formed through externalization, objectification, and internalization, institutionalizing the stigma surrounding spinsterhood. As a result, the concept evolves into a socially constructed label that significantly influences women's opportunities, autonomy, and psychological health within the Pekal community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of social media by Santi Batik MSME in promoting Batik Besurek, a traditional cultural product of Bengkulu. In the digital era, platforms such as Instagram and TikTok play a significant role in building brand identity and expanding marketing reach. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that although Santi Batik actively uses social media, the management of its accounts remains unstructured due to limited time, digital skills, and the absence of a dedicated social media administrator. Instagram is mainly used to showcase product images, while TikTok is utilized to display live production processes. However, the lack of consistent content planning limits the effectiveness of promotional efforts. Through the lens of Symbolic Interactionism, the study identifies that social media not only serves as a marketing tool but also as a symbolic space where cultural meanings are constructed and emotional bonds between business owners and consumers are formed. In conclusion, social media holds great potential in supporting the presence of local cultural products such as Batik Besurek, yet it requires enhanced digital capabilities and more strategic content planning to ensure consistent and impactful promotion in the face of an increasingly competitive digital market.

Abstract

Education has a major role in building a strong country and producing talented citizens. However, the Indonesian education system still places too much emphasis on academic aspects rather than character and moral development. Ki Hadjar Dewantara's ideas, which emphasize building national character, remain relevant in this era of globalization. This research uses a literature study method by analyzing various literature related to Ki Hadjar Dewantara's thoughts, educational philosophy, and current educational challenges. Data was obtained from books, journals and Ki Hadjar Dewantara's writings which document his views on education and culture. The research results show that Ki Hadjar Dewantara's educational concept is based on the principle "Ing ngarso sung tulodo, ing madyo mangun karso, tut wuri handayani" which emphasizes the importance of example, motivation and guidance in education. Apart from that, his thinking is also related to various schools of educational philosophy, such as essentialism, existentialism, progressivism and perennialism. In conclusion, Ki Hadjar Dewantara's thoughts provide a strong philosophical foundation for the Indonesian education system in facing changing times. The integration of national values, culture and morality in education can be a solution to create a generation that is intelligent, has character and has a high sense of social responsibility.
