Abstract

Environmental services are the services provided by the ecosystem functions that have direct and indirect benefits. The purpose of this study is to describe the potential of environmental services in the KEHATI Park, Sekadau Regency. KEHATI Park Sekadau was built in 2012 with the aim of adding green open space land cover, collection of plants, development of science and ecotourism and the sources of seeds. The KEHATI Park ecosystem in Sekadau Regency has the potential of environmental services as a result of the interaction of the ecosystem in it. The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MEA 2005) classifies environmental services into four namely provisioning services, regulating services, cultural services, and supporting services. The method used is the survey method with interview techniques and questionnaires. For sampling of respondents conducted by accidental sampling and census. Data analysis was conducted based on MEA (2005) which was then analyzed descriptively. The environmental services contained in the Sekadau Forest Park are potential provisioning services that can be seen from foodstuffs such as fruit plants, medicines, vegetables, and forestry plants. Then regulating services that have the function of maintaining air quality, cultural services which are non-material benefits as a place of recreation, and the existence of supporting services (supporting services). Keywords: Environmental Services, KEHATI Park Sekadau, Millenium Ecosystem Assesment

Abstract

Arboreal ants are ants that do activities and spend their lives in tree. Roles of this organism are to serve as decomposers, pollinators, predators and indicators. Ant species diversity constitutes a chain for ecosystem stability. They are responsible as decomposing insects making their presence becomes ecologically vital. Research on ant species diversity in mangrove forest remains insufficient. One of the reasons possibly is that fact that mangrove is an ecosystem which is affected by sea tide. This research aims at gathering data about ant species diversity based on types of mangrove forest vegetation located in Setapuk Besar, Singkawang City. The research used a survey method by observing types of trees whose diameter was 10 cm and above. Additionally, the tree should have a large number of ants. The data was collected through fly sheet trap set under, in the mid, and above the tidal level. Findings revealed 6 types of ants consisting 4 sub-families in 6 types of the trees i.e. Rhizopora mucronata, Avicennia lanata, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Terminalia capatta, Nypa fruticans, and Bruguiera cylindrical.. Based on the diversity index of those 6 types of trees, the divercity of arboreal ants spesies could be categorized low (H’<1). The highest diversity was nypa fruticans vegetation by 0.325. This was because the tree contains sugar level and carbohydrate. The lowest diversity was Hibiscus tiliaceus and Termialia catappa. The H’ value was 0. One of the reasons was because only one species of ants can be found in both trees, namely Oecophylla smaragdina. Keywords: Arboreal Ants, Diversity, Mangrove, Singkawang

Method of this research was descriptive with qualitative approach. Data analysis to be applied was survey. The samples of analysis were the ministerial regulation on environmental and forestry number 92 of 2018, CITES, and Constitution number 5 of 1990. Result of the research showed that there were nine sorts of animal that were in trade as livestock. The best sold sorts of animal are cobra snakes, monitor lizards, and squirrels. The supplies were from Ketapang, Pontianak, Purun, Rasau. From Kalimantan Tengah, the supplies were specialized in wild boars and cobra snakes. Based on the price, wild boars and turtles had been the most expensive which are Rp. 70.000/kg. Four variants of foods in menu included sauced, soy sauced, rica, and fried. There were five species of animals which are conserved based on the ministerial regulation on environmental and forestry number 92 of 2018 such as monitor lizards and turtles and the other species such as cobra snakes, bats, and squirrels which are on appendix CITES II.Keywords : Ethnozoology, Livestock, Wild Animals.

Abstract

Arboretum Sylva UNTAN is an ex-situ germplasm conservation area, which has a variety of trees and undergrowth plants including epiphytes. Epiphytic orchids are orchids that grow riding on other plants, but do not harm the host plant. It is important to know the type of epiphytes that hitchhike on host plant can help management in the conservation of the area. For this reason, Epiphytic orchids and their host plant need to be done. This study uses a survey method, with census data collection techniques. Based on the results of the study, 49 types of epiphytic orchids were found as epiphytic orchids belonging to 23 genera and 36 host plant species. Epiphytic orchids that oppose the genus Bulbophyllum and Dendrobium. The dominance of the highest tree species in Acacia sp and A. pavonina. It has nothing to do with epiphytes with host plant species, but epiphytic orchids mostly found on the cantilever plant that has thicker bark, groove bark, stringy bark and a tough bark. Abiotic conditions The environment can distinguish species in the block area. Keywords: Epiphytes orchids, identification, Arboretum Sylva UNTAN.

Abstract

Ants is a one of the biotic components in the forests of Kalimantan, this animal  has a number of diverse species. This study aims to record and analyze the diversity of ant species in the area of Gunung Selindung of Twi Mentibar Village in Selakau Sub-District of Sambas Regency. The research method was purposive sampling where the placement of traps was done intentionally according to the presence of ants in three forest cover areas that is in open, medium and closed fores areas, divided into two area namely terestrial strata and arboreal. The results showed that there where nine species of ants (Formicidae) found in the Mount Selindung Forest area, namely black field ants (Formica sp), rang-rang (Oecophyllasp) pudak ant (Tapinoma melanocep), the black garden ant (Lasius niger), black ant (Dolichoderus teracicus), yellow crazy ant (Anoplolepis gracilipes), jumping ant (Harpagenethas Saltator), honey ant (Myrmecocystus sp), and  sembadak ant (Odontomachus sp). The diversity index of the terestrial (H '), of three types of forest cover areas, namely closed areas (H' = 0.63), moderate (H '= 0.76), and open area strata(H '= 0.73), all still showes the value of low species diversity; the species diversity index int the arboreal (H '), of the three types of forest cover areas namely closed area (H '), moderate (H = 0.61), and open area (H '= 0.55) all still showes the value of low species diversity. keyword: Ants, protected fores, , species diversity, Twi Mentibar Village
