Abstract

Research has been carried out on the use of coal bottom ash as a material for making briquettes as an alternative fuel. Carbonized of rubber seed shells and Halaban wood were used as mixtures and tapioca flour as adhesives. The composition used in making Halaban wood charcoal and coal bottom ash briquettes is 100% : 0%, 90% : 10%, 80% : 20%, and 70% : 30%. Tapioca flour used was as much as 5%, the pressure of 150 kg/cm2 and the size of 250 meshes. While for rubber seed shell and coal bottom ash briquettes, the composition used was with ratio 60% : 40% and 70% : 30%, the pressure used was 100, 150, and 200 kg/cm2 and the size of 50 meshes. Tapioca flour used was as much as 5%. The results of the characterization of rubber seed shell and coal bottom ash briquettes were water content (4.35 - 10.65)%, ash content (12.53 - 17.26)%, and calorific value (3597.59 - 4549.88) cal/g. While the characterization results of Halaban wood charcoal and coal bottom ash briquettes were water content (2.947 – 4.097)%, ash content (0.383 – 26.667)%, and calorific value (4749-6621) cal/g. The results showed that if coal bottom ash in the composition were higher, it would increase the water content and ash content of the briquettes, while the calorific value would be lower. The recommended composition of coal bottom ash was about 10-20 %. While if the briquettes pressure was higher, the water content, ash content and calorific value would be smaller. The recommended pressure was 150 kg /cm2.

Abstract

The choice of natural fibers as a composite reinforcing material is related to the advantages of being cheap, abundant, renewable, and environmentally friendly. This research was conducted to study the effect of de-lignification treatment on the properties of purun tikus (Eleocharis Dulcis) fiber. Purun tikus fiber has been modified with the alkaline treatment of KMnO4 2% and NaOH 5%. This treatment was mainly applied to improve the physical and chemical properties of purun tikus fiber. Changes in chemical characteristics (water, lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose), physical (density), mechanical (tensile strength), morphology, and elemental content of purun tikus before and after treated with alkaline were studied. The measurements showed an increase in water content and density while lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose were decreased. Thus the alkaline treatment of KMnO4 2% and NaOH 5% reduced lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose of the purun tikus fiber to reduce the size of the fibers, as shown in SEM measurements. There was a change in elemental content after being treated with KMnO4 2% and NaOH 5%. NaOH treatment was better than KMnO4 treatment in terms of removing lignin and hemicellulose in purun tikus fiber. Although the tensile strength of the purun fibers treated with KMnO4 2% and NaOH 5% were lower than untreated, with less lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose, it is expected that these fibers will blend better in the composite and improved its mechanical properties.

Abstract

Hasil uji berat volume dan kuat tekan bata ringan masih memenuhi syarat SNI 03-3449-1994 dan SNI 03-0349-1989. Bata ringan F terrendah dengan rerata berat 834 kg/m3.  Kuat Tekan tertinggi pada bata ringan G dengan rerata Kuat Tekan 25,58 kg/cm2 (2,56 MPa).  Komposisi campuran pasir silika dan kapur tohor memberikan pengaruh nyata (signifikan) terhadap berat volume dan kuat tekan bata ringan. Dari pengujian kuat tekan, bata ringan dengan komposisi  kapur tohor rendah mempunyai kuat tekan lebih tinggi dari pada komposisi dengan kadar kapur tohor lebih tinggi. Sementara bata ringan dengan variasi komposisi pasir silika tinggi mempunyai kuat tekan lebih tinggi. Semakin besar penggunaan abu terbang batubara dan kapur tohor akan meningkatkan absorpsi dan porositas tetapi akan menurunkan nilai berat volume bata ringan. Semakin besar porositas maka kuat tekan bata ringan akan berkurang. Secara analisis statistik menunjukkan pemilihan komposisi sama saja, tetapi di rekomendasikan untuk memilih komposisi campuran abu terbang batubara sama dengan pasir silika 28,57% serta semen 42,86% (bata ringan G).

Abstract

Sintesis nanokomposit Fe3O4@C dari bijih besi Tanah Laut dan sumber karbon dari gula pasir telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kopresipitasi dan metode hidrotermal. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik Fe3O4@C berbahan bijih besi. Sebanyak 6 g bijih besi digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan Fe3O4. FeSO4.7H2O digunakan sebagai sumber ion Fe2+. Sampel diaduk dengan menggunakan temperatur 70oC dengan kecepatan adukan 450 rpm. Karbon (C) disintesis menggunakan metode hidrotermal pada temperatur 300oC dengan menambahkan etilon glikol sebagai surfaktan. Sampel Fe3O4 dan C digabung pada suhu 250oC selama 30 menit dengan kecepatan 500 rpm. Sampel  Nanokomposit Fe3O4@C dikarakterisasi menggunakan Vibrating Sample Magnetometer, Fourier Transform Infrared, Transmission Electron Microscopy, serta elektrokimia. Dari penelitian, diperoleh nilai magnetisasi saturasi sebesar 24,82 emu/g, jenis ikatan yang terdapat dalam nanokomposit Fe3O4@C adalah ikatan Fe-O, C=O, C=N dan O-H, distribusi ukuran partikel dalam rentang 5 nm – 20 nm, dengan rata-rata ukuran partikel 12 nm, serta nilai sensitivitas 0,285 mA/ppm.

Abstract

The increasing demand for energy and fossil fuels has caused a shortage of energy, so renewable alternative energy is needed to help solve this problem. Biomass waste has significant potential as a briquette-making material. The production of briquettes as an alternative energy source made from biomass from Alaban wood charcoal and rubber seed shells is one solution. The research was conducted to determine the characteristics of briquettes with differences in composition variations, including moisture content, ash content, and caloric value in accordance with SNI 01-6235-2000 standards. Alaban wood charcoal and rubber seed shells that have been carbonized and made into powder were then sieved with a 60 mesh sieve and then weighed and mixed with a rubber adhesive, and then molded with a pressure of 200 kg/cm2. The composition variations used for Alaban wood charcoal and rubber seed shells are 100%:0%; 0%:100%; 70%:30%; 60%:40%; 50%:50%; 40%:60%; 30%:70% with 9% rubber adhesive in the total weight for each composition and dipped in used cooking oil for 3 minutes. The characteristics of the resulting briquettes are moisture content of 0.69%-2.06%; ash content of 3.34%-4.91%; and caloric value of 7.863kcal/g-8.042kcal/g. The results of this research as a whole have met the standards. The more rubber seed shells that are added, the lower the moisture content, the higher the ash content, and the caloric value. Briquettes with a composition of 30% Alaban wood charcoal and 70% rubber seed shells produce a caloric value of 7.953 kcal/g, moisture content of 0.75%, and ash content of 4.19%.

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA diharapkan memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan kualitas kemampuan dan keterampilan peserta didik. Keterampilan abad 21 terutama keterampilan hidup dan berkarir. katerampilan hidup dan berkarir sangat di butuhkan agar peserta didik dapat menghadapi berbagai peluang dan tantangan dimasa depan. Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil keterampilan hidup dan berkarir peserta didik pada dimensi inetraksi sosial, kemandirian, dan tanggungjawab. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil keterampilan abad 21 peserta didik SMP IT  Taman Cinta Al-Qur’an Banjarmasin kelas VII. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriftif kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui Instrumen non tes berupa angket berdasarkan indikator keterampilan hidup dan berkarir . Tes dilakukan terhadap 20 peserta didik hasil tes menunjukan bahwa rata-rata keseluruhan keterampilan hidup dan berkarir adalah 71% peserta didik masih dalma kategori kurang. Abstract

Abstrak Telah dilakukan modifikasi dan karakterisasi serat bemban menggunakan larutan alkali NaOH. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan karakteristik serat bemban termodifikasi dengan perlakuan alkalisasi NaOH 5% selama 2 jam. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen untuk mempelajari perlakuan alkali NaOH 5% dan KOH 5% dengan waktu 2 jam terhadap karakteristik serat bemban. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan kadar selulosa serta penurunan kadar lignin dan kadar air serat bemban hasil perlakuan modifikasi, dengan serat tanpa modifikasi sebagai perbandingan. Karakteristik serat bemban tanpa modifikasi memiliki kadar air 12,96%, kadar selulosa 27,33%, dan kadar lignin 7,64%. Sedangkan karakteristik serat bemban termodifikasi NaOH 5% selama 2 jam dengan kadar air 6,25%, kadar selulosa 47,79%, dan kadar lignin 4,52%. Perlakuan modifikasi KOH 5% selama 2 jam meningkatkan kadar selulosa hingga 77,07%, dengan kadar lignin turun menjadi 10,00% dan kadar air menjadi 1,00%. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan kadar selulosa lebih tinggi pada modifikasi KOH daripada NaOH. Kata kunci: serat bemban; NaOH; selulosa; lignin

Abstract

The use of empty oil palm fruit bunches as reinforcement in making composite boards has been carried out. Palm oil empty bunch fiber was obtained in the Kotabaru area, South Kalimantan. Palm oil empty fruit bunch fiber is hydrophilic which causes low adhesive properties between the fiber and the matrix so it is necessary to alkalize with 3% NaOH for 5 hours first. Alkalization has increased the cellulose content by 19.36% and reduced the lignin component by 9.04% and other components, such as hemicellulose, pectin, fat and others by 59.63%. Making composite boards uses the hand lay-up method and has succeeded in improving physical and mechanical properties. Water content according to SNI. The acoustic performance of composite boards shows significant results. The acoustic properties of composite boards without alkalization are sound absorbing, while with alkalization they are reflective. These results are supported by FTIR and SEM morphology results, which show that the interfacial bonding properties between the fiber and the matrix increase, thereby changing the acoustic performance of the TKKS composite board.Keywords:  Alkalization, hand lay-up, acoustic performance, absorption, reflection.

Abstract

Daerah Gambut di Kabupaten Banjar, Kalimantan Selatan merupakan lumbung padi untuk daerah Kalimantan. Setelah panen, gabah perlu dikeringkan agar dapat disimpan  dan siap untuk digiling menjadi beras. Masyarakat mengeringkan gabah secara tradisional yaitu dijemur langsung di terik matahari. Hal ini sangat bergantung terhadap cuaca. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan membuat alat pengering gabah berbahan bakar briket sekam padi. Pada saat uji coba, alat pengering gabah berbahan bakar briket dapat menaikkan suhu dalam kotak pengering dari 40oC menjadi 56oC dalam waktu 20 menit. Untuk menaikkan suhu dalam kotak pengering, kita hanya perlu menambah bahan bakar pada tungku pemanas.Abstract. The peat area in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan is a rice granary for the Kalimantan area. After harvesting, the grain needs to be dried so it can be stored and ready to be milled into rice. People dry grain traditionally, namely drying it directly in the hot sun. This really depends on the weather. This community service aims to make a grain dryer powered by rice husk briquettes. During the trial, the briquette-fueled grain dryer was able to increase the temperature in the drying box from 40oC to 56oC in 20 minutes. Abstract

Kepedulian masyarakat dalam meminimalisasi limbah minyak goreng pada lingkungan telah dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Lambung Mangkurat kepada Masyarakat ibu-ibu PKK RT 38 RW 11 Kecamatan Cempaka Banjarbaru.  Membuat sendiri sabun ecoenzyme ramah lingkungan berbahan limbah minyak goreng telah dilakukan. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan dua kegiatan, yaitu penyuluhan tentang dampak negatif membuang limbah minyak goreng ke lingkungan dan praktik langsung pembuatan limbah minyak goreng menjadi sabun ecoenzyme yang ramah lingkungan.  Pembuatan Sabun ecoenzyme mudah dilakukan sehingga dapat dilakukan sendiri dan bahan yang digunakan mudah ditemukan. Harga produksi sangat murah dan jika diaplikasikan sangat bernilai ekonomis. Pembuatan sabun dilakukan dengan beberapa kali eksperimen di laboratorium sehingga diperoleh formulasi perbandingan penyusun sabun yang paling baik. Sabun ecoenzyme yang dibuat sangat lembut, harum, berbusa, bersih dalam mencuci tangan dan alat-alat pecah belah dan aman bagi tangan. Pembuatan sabun sangat mudah dan biaya produksi sangat murah.
