Abstract

This study aims to test the validity of the integrated science module of the Qur'an and Hadith to improve the religious character of junior high school students, its effectiveness based on cognitive learning outcomes, and the application of religious characters. The research method uses Research and Development, which consists of research, development, validation, and small and large scale trials. The developed module is validated by material experts, media experts, teachers and students. Module testing was carried out using the Times Series Design design on 23 samples of junior high school students. The results of module validation by material experts with fairly valid criteria and media experts with very valid criteria. The teacher response criteria is very valid and the student response is quite valid. Cognitive learning outcomes using modules based on N-gain results have moderate criteria. The applicability of religious characters during learning has moderate criteria.

Abstract

E-book This moss plant is an alternative learning resource for students to help them understand the concept of the moss plant material because it is presented in a detailed material coverage accompanied by colorful pictures and equipped with videos that can increase student understanding. The development of the moss e-book has been validated by instructional media experts, material experts and teachers at the Semarang City Biology MGMP forum, and it is stated that the moss plant e-book is very suitable for use in the learning process and can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are important skills in the 21st century, therefore their attainment needs to be measured to determine future steps in the learning process so that they can be improved. This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills of students after learning with Project Based Learning (PjBL) integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM). This research was conducted with a mix-method approach and a concurrent triangulation strategy. Data collection uses test essay to measure aspects of critical thinking skills including aspects of elementary clarification, basic support, inference, adavanced clarification, and aspect strategy and tactics. Furthermore, the results were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results showed that the achievement of each aspect of critical thinking skills showed variations. The aspect of elementary clarification score 71.01 in high category, basic support score 72.54 in high category, the inference score 74.65 in high category, adavanced clarification score 58.49 in moderate category, and the aspect of strategy and tactics scored 82.83 in very high category. These results indicate the average critical thinking skills of students in PjBL STEM learning environmental change material on high category.

Abstract

The Lusi River has local potential for abundant biodiversity, one of them is the diversity of dragonfly species. This local potential can be compiled into a teaching supplement to complement the student's teaching book. Data on the diversity of dragonflies in the Lusi watershed of Blora region was successfully obtained and compiled as a supplementary book of biodiversity chapters. However, the feasibility of the book needs to be assessed by material experts, media experts, teachers, and students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the feasibility and response of teachers and students to the supplement book developed. This study is designed as Research and Development (R&D) that is limited to the small-scale test stage. Eligibility data obtained by using media validation questionnaires and questionnaires made in accordance with BSNP 2014 standards, while teacher and student response data is obtained by using teacher and student response questionnaires. The validation of material experts against teaching supplements got a score of 93.23% and media experts gave a score of 98.61%, both with very decent categories. However there are suggestions from material and media validators for minor revisions. Teacher and student responses to teaching supplement received scores of 91.83% and 97.3% respectively with very decent categories. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the teaching supplement of dragonfly diversity in Lusi River watershed is feasible for use in the study of biodiversity chapters.

Abstract

Agrowisata Sidomuncul berpotensi sebagai sumber belajar Kingdom Plantae dan manfaatnya bagi kehidupan. Namun perizinan yang cukup lama, biaya tranportasi, tenaga, dan kemungkinan terganggunya mata pelajaran lain menjadi pertimbangan dalam melakukan kunjungan ke agrowisata Sidomuncul. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji kelayakan dalam pengembangan Ensiklopedia Tanaman Obat koleksi PT. Sidomuncul sebagai media pembelajaran materi plantae kelas X SMA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research and Development (R&D). Langkah penelitian ini meliputi penelitian pendahuluan observasi jenis spesies tanaman obat koleksi PT. Sidomuncul (melihat, mendokumentasikan, dan mengidentifikasi untuk kemudian dibuat dalam bentuk ensiklopedia), desain produk, dan validasi produk. Penelitian pendahuluan dilakukan di Agrowisata Sidomuncul milik PT. Sidomuncul Klepu, Kecamatan Bergas, Kabupaten Semarang. Validasi Ensiklopedia Tanaman Obat koleksi PT. Sidomuncul melibatkan pakar media, pakar materi, dan pakar perangkat pembelajaran untuk penilaian keterterapan Ensiklopedia Tanaman Obat koleksi PT. Sidomuncul sebagai media pembelajaran. Hasil dari penelitian ini teridentifikasi sebanyak 210 spesies tanaman obat yang kemudian disusun ke dalam ensiklopedia. Validasi Ensiklopedia Tanaman Obat koleksi PT. Sidomuncul dinyatakan dalam kategori sangat layak dengan persentase 97,5% oleh validator media, layak dengan persentase 77,5% oleh validator materi, dan sangat layak dengan persentase 87,5% oleh validator perangkat pembelajaran sebagai media pembelajaran materi Plantae kelas X SMA Sidomuncul Agrotourism have potential as a source of learning Plantae Kingdom and benefits for life. Licensing process long enough, the cost of transportation, energy, and possible disruptions of other subjects into consideration in making a visit to Sidomuncul Agrotourism. The purpose of this study was to test the feasibility of the Encyclopedia of Medicinal Plants PT. Sidomuncul collection development, as a learning medium of Plantae materials class X SMA. This study is a Research and Development (R & D). Step of this study include observational preliminary study of medicinal plants species PT. Sidomuncul collection (see, documenting, identifying and then made in the form of an encyclopedia), product design and product validation. Preliminary research conducted at Agrotourism of PT. Sidomuncul Klepu, District Bergas, Semarang Regency. Validation Encyclopedia of Medicinal Plants PT. Sidomuncul collection involving media experts, materials experts and experts of learning devic for the assessment of implementation Encyclopedia of Medicinal Plants PT. Sidomuncul collection as a learning medium. The results of this study identified as many as 210 species of medicinal plants which are then compiled into the encyclopedia. Validation Encyclopedia of Medicinal Plants collection PT. Sidomuncul expressed in the category of very decent with a percentage of 97.5% by the media validator, feasible with the percentage of 77.5% by validator material, and very decent with a percentage of 87.5% by validator learning device as a medium of learning materials Plantae class X SMA.

Abstract

Buku Teks Pelajaran (BTP) adalah buku panduan peserta didik terbaru yang digunakan dalam Kurikulum 2013. Sekolah Menengah Pertama wajib menggunakan BTP berjudul “Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam SMP/ MTs Kelas VII Semester 1 dan 2 cetakan ke-2 2014” pada mata pelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keberadaan pendidikan karakter pada BTP tersebut dengan menggunakan pendekatan semi kualitatif. Sumber data berupa dokumen yang didukung wawancara narasumber. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode analisis muatan, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan triangulasi data sesuai model analisis Miles & Huberman. Hasil penelitian membuktikan BTP IPA Kurikulum 2013 pada materi Biologi kelas VII SMP memuat nilai pendidikan karakter meliputi nilai religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, komunikatif, gemar membaca, peduli lingkungan dan tanggung jawab. Nilai peduli sosial dan cinta damai tidak ditemukan baik di BTP Semester 1 ataupun 2. Hal ini dapat terjadi karena kedua nilai tersebut lebih mengarah pada kegiatan sosial, sedangkan IPA adalah ilmu yang mempelajari gejala alam. “Buku Teks Pelajaran” (BTP) is the newest textbook used in “Kurikulum 2013”. “Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam SMP/ MTs Kelas VII Semester 1 dan 2 cetakan ke-2 tahun 2014 (edisi revisi)” is a compulsory book used to teach Science in Middle School. The existence of character education inside BTP hasn’t been confirmed because previously there never been an analysis on BTP. This research will analyze the existence of character education in the textbook used to teach biology in middle school. Data used in this research were a textbook and an interview with a science teacher and the data gathering techniques are literature analysis, interviews, and documentation. Data reduction analysis was used in accordance to the Miles & Huberman analysis model. This research proved that the Biology textbook for 7th Grade Junior High School contains character education values in accordance with the indicators of character education essay that was published by Indonesian Ministry of Education in 2010. There were 16 character education values inside the textbook, those values are religious, honesty, independence, cooperation, creativity, discipline, democratic, curiosity, the national spirit, love of the homeland, appreciate the achievements, communication, passion to read, environmental awareness, and responsibility. The Biology textbook for 7th Grade Junior High School contains all character education values except for the social empathy and love for peace values.

Abstract

Problem based learning (PBL) aims to form student’s problem-solving, which require ananalysis, evaluation, and creation abilities (Higher order thinking or HOT). Implementation of PBL is often used, but has not been analyzed based on syntax and its characteristics. The sample of the study consisted of 53 students divided into two classes XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 4. Data sources include the observation’s results of learning in the classroom, student feedback questionnaire, student answers on questions HOT, teacher’s questionnaires and interviews. Data were analyzed by descriptive percentage and pearson correlation. The result showed that all phases of PBL’s syntax is well implemented. The investigation, development & presentation, and the analysis of the problem-solving process are well implemented, but it is excellent on student organizing and problem-orientation phases. As much as of 20,13% of students had an ecxellent HOT, 57,86% is good, 16,98% is fair, and 5,03% is poor. The correlation between PBL implementation and HOT capability is 0,36 which is categorized positive but weak.

Abstract

Utilization of teaching materials with the latest innovation called mobile learning can be applied in learning using Android-based smartphones. Kingdom Plantae is a complex material so it needs effective teaching materials using Information Technology (IT). The development of IT has not been utilized as teaching materials. This study aims to develop Android-based e-module as a teaching material for the X-class students of Plantae kingdom's worthy, practical and effective materials. Research and Development (R & D) stages include identification of potential and problems, data, e-module design, e-module validation, revision I e-module design, small-scale trial, revision II e-module design, large-scale trials, final revision and product of the Android-based e-module material of Plantae kingdom. Data completion method is done by giving questionnaire of media and material validity, and questionnaire of practicality on small and wide scale test. Data analysis used descriptive percentage. The result of the research shows e-module worthy of teaching materials with material percentage of material 81,75% and media 88,46%. E-modules are practically used as teaching materials with a percentage of 83.05% scale test and 88.06% widescreen scale and e-modules with effectively average N-Gains of 0.61 (medium category). Based on these results, can get Android-based e-module can be used as a teaching material of high school students X class of Plantae kingdom.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze collaborative skill through guided inquiry strategy on cell bioprocess material and analyzerelationships of collaborative skill with student's cognitive result. Student’s collaborative skill which assessed were student’s participation in experimental activities, students’s participation in discussion activities, adaptation in grup and flexible work. This research method uses one shot case study with pre-experimental design. The subjects of this study were students of class XI MIPA 1, XI MIPA 2 and XI MIPA 3 with a total of 107 students. The collaborative skill of student’s assessed using observation, self-assessment and peer assessment. Then the results of the assessment were correlated with student cognitive study results. A total of 91.6% of students have excellent collaborative skills and 8.4% of students have good category. The correlation test results showed that there is a positive relationship between collaborative skill and student test result. It can be concluded that guided inquiry strategy is effective toward students collaborative skill and gives positive relationship between collaborative skill and student's cognitive result

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the readiness of biology laboratories to support practical work in State High Schools throughout Tegal Regency. The readiness refers to the availability of all things that can support practical activities including the readiness of infrastructure facilities and laboratory management. This study used quantitative descriptive research design. The population in this study is all independent biology laboratories in State High Schools throughout Tegal Regency that used for practical works. The sampling technique used is saturation sampling. This study has been done at biology laboratory of SMA Negeri 1 Bojong, SMA Negeri 1 Kramat, SMA Negeri 1 Warureja, SMA Negeri 1 Balapulang, SMA Negeri 1 Pangkah, SMA Negeri 1 Slawi, SMA Negeri 2 Slawi, SMA Negeri 3 Slawi, dan SMA Negeri 1 Pagerbarang. The data were obtained using the observation method, questionnaire, and interview with reference to Permendiknas Number 24 Year 2007, Permendiknas Number 26 Year 2008, and Permendikbud Number 24 Year 2016. Further, the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The result of the study shows that the readiness of infrastructure facilities and management successively scored 58.5% and 62.8% which is belonged to sufficient criteria. The conclusion of this study is the biology laboratories in State High Schools throughout Tegal Regency is ready enough to support biological practical work with an average readiness of 60.52%.
