Abstract

This study discusses hadiths related to stock investment from an Islamic perspective, focusing on a hadith narrated by al-Khamsah from ‘Amr bin Syu’aib, sourced from his father and grandfather, which has been authenticated by Tirmidzi, Ibnu Khuzaimah, and Hakim. After confirming the authenticity of the hadith, the next step is to provide syarah (explanation) to clarify its meaning. This research employs the methods of takhrij and syarah, along with a disciplinary approach that includes theological, historical, and philosophical perspectives. The study aims to answer several key questions regarding the content of the hadith on investment, the authenticity of the hadith related to investment, and the explanation of hadiths that support stock investment in Islam. The methodology used is a thematic (maudhui) approach with textual, contextual, and intertextual analysis. In conclusion, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught that investment should be conducted with honesty and commitment. The hadith regarding stock investment is accepted and serves as guidance for Muslim practices. Investment is encouraged in Islam, as it can create employment opportunities and prevent the accumulation of wealth. However, it must avoid prohibited elements in both the object and method of investment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the roles and contributions of contemporary hadith scholars, both from the international arena and Indonesia, in the development of hadith studies in the modern era. Using a qualitative research method with a library research approach, this study explores the biographies, scholarly works, and methodological approaches employed by these scholars in understanding and teaching hadith. Prominent figures such as Nasaruddin Al-Albani and Yusuf al-Qaradawi at the international level, as well as K.H. Hasyim Hasyari, Quraish Shihab, Syuhudi Ismail, Teungku Muhammad Hasbi al-Shiddieqy, and Kamaruddin Amin in Indonesia, are the primary focus of this research. Contemporary hadith scholars not only preserve the classical tradition of hadith scholarship but also offer new approaches that are relevant to current social and intellectual contexts. Their thoughts reflect efforts to integrate hadith texts with modern realities, promoting a more inclusive and contextual understanding of hadith. This study is expected to provide both academic and practical insights for the advancement of hadith studies and serve as a valuable reference in understanding the dynamics of contemporary Islamic scholarship

Abstract

Hadith holds an important position as the second source of Islamic teachings, serving not onlyas a basis for legal rulings but also shaping social and economic values. This study aims toanalyze how the principle of ta’awun (mutual assistance) found in authentic hadiths isimplemented through the tabarru’ mechanism in Islamic life insurance products in Indonesia. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a library research method, byvalidating the sanad and matan of the hadith and analyzing the content of Islamic lifeinsurance policy documents. The result shows that the tabarru’ mechanism in Islamic lifeinsurance genuinely applies the value of solidarity through contribution-based donations, shared risk claim schemes, surplus underwriting arrangements, and an interest-free qardh(benevolent loan) mechanism. These findings demonstrate that the principle of ta’awun, derived from authentic hadith and supported by Quranic verses, can be practically andsystematically actualized through the tabarru’ mechanism as a risk protection instrumentbased on Islamic principles. This study is expected to enrich the literatur on applied hadithstudies and provide input for the development of Islamic finansial practices that remainaligned with authentic sources.

Abstract

Suicide is a serious mental health issue that affects many adolescents around the world, including Muslims. Although Islamic teachings strictly prohibit suicide, the phenomenon persists, indicating a gap between religious teachings and the reality faced by adolescents. Various factors, such as academic pressure, identity conflict, and the influence of social media, contribute to the increased risk of suicide among adolescents. This study aims to explore the hadith perspective on suicide and develop a prevention model based on Islamic teachings, with a focus on adolescents. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive analysis approach. Data were collected through a literature study that delved into hadith related to suicide, as well as literature that discussed psychological factors such as depression, anxiety, and stress. This approach allowed the researcher to provide a comprehensive understanding of Islamic teachings and the factors that influence suicidal behavior. The results show that the traditions that discuss suicide are of authentic quality and provide strong moral guidance. They emphasize the prohibition of suicide and teach the importance of valuing life and finding solutions to difficulties. In addition, this study found that the integration of psychological and spiritual approaches in addressing the problem of suicide is still less than optimal. This study recommends the development of a suicide prevention model that integrates hadith values with psychological approaches. By creating a supportive environment, comprehensive religious education, and adequate psychological support, it is expected to reduce the suicide rate among Muslim adolescents. These efforts are essential to building better mental resilience and creating a healthier and more productive generation.

Abstract

Living Hadith refers to the actualization of the Prophet Muhammad’s sayings and teachings within the social, cultural, educational, and da’wah life of Muslim communities. This approach emphasizes that hadith is not merely a textual tradition but a living guide manifested in daily religious and social practices. Through rituals such as the Prophet’s Birthday (Maulid), communal prayers (tahlilan), almsgiving, and grave visits, hadith becomes a moral and spiritual source shaping Muslim character and social solidarity. In education and da’wah, hadith values are internalized through learning, role modeling, and digital media. However, the development of Living Hadith faces academic challenges due to the lack of standardized methodology, as well as socio-cultural issues like syncretism and misinterpretation. Modernity and globalization also demand new interpretations to ensure the relevance of hadith in the digital era. This study concludes that Living Hadith serves as a bridge between divine revelation and social reality, portraying Islam as a dynamic, contextual, and universal religion of mercy (rahmatan lil ‘alamin).

Abstract

This research explores the commodification of the Prophetic tradition (hadiths) regarding umrah as a marketing strategy employed by hajj and umrah travel agencies on Instagram in South Sulawesi and uncovers the patterns of commodification and the integration of authoritative religious figures. This qualitative study analyzes the contents of Instagram posts from travel agencies with over 2,000 followers registered by the Ministry of Religion. The study applies Pattana Kitiarsa's commodification theory and the Theory of Reasoned Action to analyze how religious messages are adapted to serve marketing objectives. The findings reveal three primary patterns of hadith commodification: leveraging authoritative figures to enhance credibility, interpretating hadiths to align with marketing goals, and maximalizing inspirational messages to attract customers. These strategies align with Reasoned Action Theory, highlighting perceived benefits and social influence in consumer decision-making. This study offers a unique contribution by focusing on the commodification of sacred texts in the digital marketing realm, particularly in Indonesia's Islamic travel sector. The implications underscore the importance of establishing ethical guidelines for integrating religious content into marketing, while also providing marketers with valuable insights into responsibly engaging with religious audiences.

Abstract

The gap between prophetic ownership principles in hadith and contemporary economic practices forms this research background. This study aims to analyze ownership concepts in hadith and explore their relevance to modern economics. The research employs qualitative methodology with descriptive-analytical approach through literature review. Findings reveal that ownership from hadith perspective constitutes trust (amanah) rather than absolute right. Three fundamental principles emerge: moral and social responsibility of owners, limitations preventing economic exploitation, and lawful wealth acquisition mechanisms. Implementation of these principles in modern economic systems manifests through Islamic banking, anti-monopoly regulations, and ethical digital economic development. The study formulates a tiered ownership model based on maqashid syariah with equitable redistribution mechanisms as alternative solution addressing global economic disparities.

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between prophetic hadith and Pasang ri Kajang, the customary normative system of the Ammatoa Kajang community, through the framework of wilaayat al-amr in environmental governance. Situated at the intersection of hadith studies and Islamic constitutional thought, the study moves beyond textual interpretation to analyze how ecological hadiths function as sources of public authority in regulating collective environmental conduct. While previous scholarship has discussed Islamic environmental ethics and indigenous ecological traditions separately, their interaction as parallel normative authorities remains insufficiently explored. Using a qualitative normative-comparative method, this study analyzes selected ecological hadiths through dirāyah al-hadith, supported by maqashid al-shari‘ah and legal pluralism approaches. These findings are then compared with Pasang ri Kajang as a form of customary environmental law. The study finds that prophetic authority and Ammatoa customary leadership represent distinct yet functionally comparable forms of ecological governance. Prophetic authority operates universally, whereas Ammatoa authority functions locally as a socially autonomous institution that may also be recognized as a form of constitutional legitimacy within plural legal systems. This article argues that wilaayat al-amr should not be confined to formal state power alone, but may also include legitimate authority oriented toward public welfare (maslahah ‘ammah). By proposing the concept of authoritative ecological convergence, this study contributes to hadith studies, Islamic constitutional law, and environmental governance by offering a model through which religious norms and indigenous authority may coexist in promoting ecological sustainability. More broadly, the findings suggest that contemporary environmental policy should incorporate socially legitimate local authorities as strategic partners of the state in conservation governance. Such an approach may strengthen legal compliance, reduce jurisdictional conflict, and enhance the sustainability of environmental regulation.

Abstract

The science of Hadith serves as an epistemological foundation ensuring the authenticity and validity of the Sunnah as a primary source of Islamic law. However, contemporary studies on Hadith tend to emphasize the technical aspects of sanad and matn criticism, while its philosophical dimensions remain underexplored. This article aims to reconstruct the conceptualization of Hadith science through three perspectives of the philosophy of science—ontology, epistemology, and axiology—and to explain its implications for the development of Islamic law. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach and philosophical analysis of classical and contemporary sources, this study finds that ontologically, Hadith science preserves the authenticity of prophetic teachings; epistemologically, it establishes an empirical-verificative and rational system of knowledge for understanding the Sunnah; and axiologically, it directs the application of Hadith toward human welfare and the realization of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah. Thus, Hadith science is not merely a technical discipline but a dynamic system of knowledge that supports the renewal of Islamic law while maintaining authenticity, rationality, and relevance to contemporary contexts.
