Abstract

Mangrove forests are biological resources found in coastal areas that have ecological and economic functions. Bruguiera gymnorrhiza is a type of mangrove that grows in the middle and back zones with a muddy sand substrate. The fruit can be used as a local food source, especially in coastal areas that have the potential of mangrove forests, but of course must pay attention to the sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem. This PKM aims to apply the technology of processing the Bruguiera gymnorrhiza mangrove fruit for gulmerda cake and syrup which has a high selling value. The methods used in the Community Partnership Program (PKM) activities are lectures, practice, hedonic testing and mentoring. The results of PKM have increased public knowledge in utilizing raw materials that are around their environment to be processed into products that have a selling value, motivating people to be more independent and confident in developing businesses to improve community welfare, organoleptic testing, Cake gulmerda products are products that have higher score. The formation of the entrepreneurial group "Let's Feel Creative" in the context of the sustainability of training activities. Keywords: Diversification, processed mangrove fruit, gulmerda cake, Dau syrup, North Maitara

Abstract

The study of condition status and identification of problems of seagrass damage in the waters of South Kayoa District, South Halmahera Regency aims to determine the status of seagrass ecosystem conditions and identify problems of seagrass ecosystem damage in the waters of South Kayoa District, South Halmahera Regency. Based on the research results on the status of the level of damage to the seagrass ecosystem in the waters of the South Kayoa District, South Halmahera Regency, about the Decree of the Minister of State for the Environment no. 200 of 2004. The station I (Pasir Putih) has an area of 61.23 significant damage. Station II (Ngute-Ngute) damage area 49.69 moderate damage. Station III (Posi-Posi) has an area of 39 moderate damage. Station IV (Sagaole) Damage area 46.90 moderate damage. Station V (Pass), with an area of 60.28, is under significant damage. While the factors causing the seagrass damage were identified due to natural factors in the form of waves and human factors in the form of ship/boat mooring, ship/boat anchorage, breakwater construction, resident settlements, dock construction, Doro (road opening in the seagrass area), construction of public roads, fishing fish and non-fish and seaweed cultivation.

Abstract

The waters of Bacan Island are a fishing ground for skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), using pole and line fishing gear with FADs. The pole and line fishery business carried out by fishermen or entrepreneurs at the Bacan coastal fishing port should earn a continuous profit. Therefore, a business feasibility study on the pole and line fishery business is very important given the considerable uncertainty in the business, because this fishery business is highly dependent on the fishing season and natural factors. The research has been carried out in the coastal fishing port of Bacan. Data collection in the field was carried out for 2 weeks, from 6 to 19 May 2021. The study used a descriptive survey method. Data related to investment, operational, maintenance costs, average number of catches/trips, average number of fishing trips and fish prices were obtained through structured interviews using questionnaires with respondents (ship owners, skippers, and crew fishermen). Sampling of respondents was done by purposive sampling. The results showed that financially (profit) and investment (Net B/C, IRR, BEP, and PP) the pole and line fishery business KM Mina Maritim 145 capacity 30 GT and KM Inka Mina 520 capacity 37 GT was feasible to be cultivated throughout the year. Based on business feasibility (financial and investment criteria), the huhate fishery business of the two ships has high sustainability. The pole and line fishery business in the research location has a high sustainability status, therefore it needs attention from the local government, so that the fishery business continues for the sake of increasing regional income and community welfare while still paying attention to the sustainability of the natural resources used.

Abstract

Gastropods are included in the mollusk phylum which is known to be well-associated with seagrass ecosystems. The gastropod community is an important component in the food chain in seagrass beds and ecologically seagrass beds have an important role in the ecosystem. Seagrass ecosystems are habitats and food sources for fish and other aquatic biota. One of the biota commonly found in seagrass beds is Gastropods. This study was conducted to know the composition of gastropod species, types of gastropod associations, and gastropod microhabitat niches in seagrass ecosystems on Donrotu Island. Gastropod sampling was carried out at low tide. The gastropod samples found were then put into a plastic bag that already contained a label. Furthermore, the gastropod samples were brought ashore to count the number of individuals of each type and determined based on morphological characteristics such as shell shape, shell color, shell mouth opening, and spiral circle based on Dharma (1992) instructions. Based on the results of the study, the composition of the types of gastropods found in the seagrass ecosystem on the island of Donrotu was as many as 13 species. There were 13 pairs of gastropod types that had positive associations and 65 pairs of no associations. The type of gastropod that has the widest habitat niche is Cypraea tigris and the narrowest are Naticarius coillei and Pseudovertagus aluco.
