Abstract

Geothermal manifestation on the Sungai Medang and Semurup, Kerinci Regency appear along the Sumatran Fault System. Geological setting as well as this are interesting things to understand from the linkage between of them. To know this process, it is necessary to understand the fault structure mechanism and the presence geothermal features manifestations. The aim of this research in addition to understanding the linkage between of them, which comprehend the fault mechanism of the fault structure, so as to know the role of the fault structure in the appearance of geothermal features manifestation. Geothermal manifestation in Sungai Medang has geothermal features manifestation surface including hot spring, hot pool, geyser dome, hydrothermal alteration rock, sinter silica, and carbonate sinter. The fault structure measured and analysis on the eastern part of Siulak Fault segment of the Sungai Medang was found to be a normal right slip fault, but western part of Siulak Fault segment on the Semurup which strike-slip fault and normal right slip fault. The existence of geothermal features manifestation surface in fault zone of Siulak Fault segment is evidence that, the role of faults is as a controlled by apeear geothermal manifestation. The fault structure mechanism is the result of dextral movement of Siulak Fault which forms a pull-apart basin. This basin is single fault-bend basin as one master fault of active segment. The fault regime stress analysis obtained direction compressional force is trending north-northwestern and south-southeastern. This regime stress is locally stress on Sungai Penuh Basin.

Abstract

Bukit Duabelas National Park (BDNP) Jambi Province is a national protected area that has geodiversity. BDNP forms northwest – southeast oriented, morphologically connected to the Barisan Mountains by the Bangko Basin. Digital elevation model observations show that the morphological orientation of these hills is surrounded by valleys and plains occupied by Paleogene-Neogene sedimentary rocks. The presence of Schist Terantam Formation provides interesting information about the exposed basement. This research uses remote sensing, field observations and stratigraphic analysis, as well as assessing geological complexity. The BDNP Territory is geologically influenced by geological structures such as faults and folds as a result of the simple shear deformation mechanism. Schist from the Terantam Formation and Granite and Pegmatite Intrusions are a consequence of simple shear mechanisms and tectonic orogenesis. Geological complexity of geosite assessment based on the criteria of petrological features, landscape, age of formation, fossil appear, tectonic basement, basement group, cultural diversity, other geological information. The proposed geosite is Terantam Inselberg which is composed of the Terantam Formation of Carboniferous and Jurassic-age of Granite and Pegmatite. The uniqueness of this proposed geosite is that the rocks exposed are the oldest basement rocks on the Sumatra Island. The landscape with Inselberg morphology, of course, is unique and is very rarely found in other areas, then the presence of ethnic groups from the Inner Child Tribe who inhabit the area characterizes cultural diversity. Comparing this proposed geosite with geosites of national and international value in the MJUGGp Territory, it can be concluded that the Terantam Inselberg Geosite is in between the two positions.

Abstract

IN THE 4.0 ERA, ALMOST EVERY ACTİVİTY RELATED TO THE EARTH REQUİRES İNTEGRATED AND SUSTAİNABLE GEOLOGİCAL DATA AND CONCEPTS. These activities include exploration and exploitation of geological resources. Earth Engineering students are led to be able to understand all types of rocks as the basis of earth science. Rock outcrops are clear and can be seen in real terms in the field. Therefore, the condition is quite far from campus, causing an effective learning media for prospective Bachelor of Earth Engineering students to recognize rocks. With the establishment of this Karang-Earth Park, it can be the right solution for this problem. The existence of this geopark miniature will later be taken from the rock outcrops in the Merangin-Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark Territory. This area was chosen for display rocks, because it is very complete of all types of rocks that are unique in terms of the age of the rocks, which were 323 Ma Carbon to Quaternary age.

Abstract

The magmatic arc of Sumatra Island, which is indicated by the presence of the Barisan Mountains zone on the west side of Sumatra Island with a general direction northwest - southeast, makes Mount Masurai, which is administratively in Merangin Regency, Jambi Province, become one of the volcanoes on Sumatra Island. Geographically, the peak of Mount Masurai is located at coordinates 101o 51' 28.60" E and 2o 30' 09.19" S with an elevation 2915 masl. The eruption period of Mount Masurai is estimated to have occurred twice during the eruption period. Based on the lack of information about volcanoes, this research was conducted to determine the characteristic and distribution of pyroclastics from Mount Masurai. In the area around Mount Masurai, remnants of volcanic eruptions were found, in the form of pyroclastic flows and falls. From data collection based on the results of geological mapping and petrographic analysis, pyroclastic rocks were found in the area around Mount Masurai with lithology in the form of Andesite Breccia, Laharic Breccia Pumice Breccia, Lapilli stone and Tuff. This is reinforced by the results of petrographic analysis of rock samples which are dominated by the presence of a glass

Abstract
