Abstract

This community service aims to strengthen the role of teachers in educating students who come from broken home families in SMP Negeri 2 Siantar.This activity is beneficial for minimizing the negative activities of  broken home students at school due to attracting teachers’ and other students’ attention. In this context, the teacher’s role is very important in providing a comprehensive education to students and helping them overcome challenges related to their family conditions. This article highlights some of the major roles that teachers can play in educating broken home students, including creating a safe learning environment, providing emotional support, developing social and emotional skills, and collaborating with parents and other professionals to provide the right kind of attention to these students.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh rangkaian gambar terhadap kemampuan menulis teks narasi siswa di kelas VIII Smp Negeri 10 Pematang Siantar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pada taraf signifikansi 5%, nilai t hitung (t hitung) melebihi nilai t kritis (t tabel), dengan perbandingan masing-masing sebesar 2,62 dan 1,671. Hal ini jelas menunjukkan bahwa skor t melebihi nilai t kritis yang diperoleh dari tabel, sehingga hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Pada dasarnya, hal ini menyiratkan bahwa penggunaan rangkaian gambar sebagai alat pembelajaran mempunyai dampak besar terhadap keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas delapan. Selain itu, penggabungan rangkaian gambar dalam penulisan teks narasi mendorong peningkatan keterlibatan, kreativitas, produktivitas, dan inovasi siswa, sekaligus menumbuhkan rasa tanggung jawab yang lebih besar. Ini memfasilitasi pembangkitan dan pengembangan ide, penyempurnaan struktur kalimat, pemilihan kosakata yang sesuai, dan pengorganisasian struktur teks yang tepat agar selaras dengan cerita. Lebih lanjut, pendekatan ini mengarah pada peningkatan motivasi dan sikap siswa terhadap pelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya dalam konteks menulis teks narasi. Siswa menunjukkan minat yang lebih besar untuk mengikuti pembelajaran dan memanfaatkan media ini. Mereka terlibat aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan sepanjang pembelajaran, menunjukkan kesediaan mereka untuk bertanya dan mengungkapkan ide-ide unik. Antusiasme dan kemauan untuk menulis dan menyelesaikan tugas secara keseluruhan meningkat secara signifikan. Penggunaan rangkaian gambar sebagai alat pengajaran yang menarik berfungsi untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan minat siswa dalam mengikuti kelas menulis.

Abstract

This research was intended to find out types of translation shift in category shift according to J.Catford  of students in translating recount text from English into Indonesia at SMP Swasta Ben's Group Buntu Bayu Hatonduhan. Therefore, the researcher formulated a question as the problem. As follows: “What are the translation shift used in translating recount text from English into Indonesian?" The researcher was used qualitative design. The researcher used grade eight students of SMP Swasta Ben's Group Buntu Bayu Hatonduhan as the population and used 25 students as the sample. The instrument of the research of this research was test recount text. The data were collected by analyzed the result of students’ translation and correction. The research finding showed that students were types of translation shift in translating recount text from English into Indonesia. From the results of students' translations in the first recount text, it was found that the highest number of types of translation shifts found in the results of students' translations was unit shifts of 135 data from 25 students. The second highest types of translation shifts were structure shifts of 75 data from 25 students. And the third highest was class shifts of 62 data from 25 students, and the last was intra-system shifts of 28 data from 25 students. Then from the results of students' translations in the second recount text, the first highest was class shifts of 153 data from 25 students, the second highest was structure shifts of 67 data from 25 students, the third highest was unit shifts of 55 data from 25 students, and the last was intra-system shifts of 26 data from 25 students. It can be concluded from both recount texts translated by students from English to Indonesian, that all contained types of translation shifts (category shifts), namely structure shifts, class shifts, unit shifts, and intra-system shifts.

Abstract

This research aims to found out the students’ translation method of students’ used translating narrative text from English Into Indonesian.This research described the kinds of translation method that used by students at grade nine in SMP SWASTA Ben’s Group Buntu Bayu Hatonduhan in translating activity. This research used qualitative method to describe the result of analysis kinds students used translation method in translating narrative text. To collect the data, the researcher used the students document study as the instrument to get the result of translation toward given text to the students. Furthermore, the students translated the text based on their comprehension. The subject of this research was twenty students at grade nine in SMP SWASTA Ben’s Group Buntu Bayu Hatonduhan. The findings of this research showed that there are some methods that students’ used in translating process. They are Literal Translation, Faithful Translation, Adaptation translation, Free Translation, Idiomatic Translation, Communicative Translation. In fact, the students’ used one until four methods in translate text. From the result of research, the researcher found that the students used six kinds in translating narrative text. They are literal, faithful, adaptation, free, idiomatic and communicative translation. As a result, Communicative Translation kind was mostly used by the students’ and none of students’ translated the text by using word for word, and semantic translation.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the types ’f inflectional morphemes used by e”ghth-grade students in writing recount texts and determine the most dominant type. A descriptive quantitative design was applied to 30 students from one eighth grade class. Data were collected through writing tests and documentation, then analyzed by identifying, classifying, and calculating the frequency of inflectional morphemes based on Yule (2020). The results show that there are seven types of inflectional morphemes used by the students: plural (-s/-es), possessive (-’s), progressive (-ing), past tense (-ed), past participle (-en/-ed), comparative (-er), and superlative (-est). The percentage of each type is as follows: plural 116 occurrences (30.4%), possessive 11 occurrences (2.93%), progressive 58 occurrences (16%), past tense 160 occurrences (45.07%), past participle 26 occurrences (4.8%), comparative 1 occurrence (0.27%), and superlative 3 occurrences (0.53%). Among these types, the past tense is the most dominant inflectional morpheme used in students’ recount writing. The findings indicate that students are generally able to express past events through their writing.

Abstract

Peningkatan kompetensi guru merupakan salah satu kunci utama dalam menciptakan kualitas pembelajaran yang lebih baik. Salah satu strategi yang dapat ditempuh adalah melalui penulisan buku ajar. Kegiatan ini tidak hanya mendorong guru untuk memperdalam materi pelajaran yang diajarkan, tetapi juga meningkatkan keterampilan menulis dan kemampuan menyusun bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Dengan demikian, penulisan buku ajar menjadi sarana pengembangan profesionalisme guru sekaligus mendukung kemandirian mereka dalam merancang pembelajaranMetode yang dapat digunakan dalam penulisan buku ajar biasanya mencakup tahap perencanaan, penyusunan, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap perencanaan, guru melakukan analisis kebutuhan siswa serta menyesuaikan dengan kurikulum. Tahap penyusunan mencakup pengembangan isi materi, penyajian yang sistematis, serta penggunaan bahasa yang mudah dipahami. Selanjutnya, tahap evaluasi dilakukan melalui uji coba atau masukan dari rekan sejawat untuk memastikan kualitas buku ajar. Proses ini mendorong guru untuk berpikir kritis, reflektif, dan kreatif dalam menyusun materi pembelajaran.Secara keseluruhan, penulisan buku ajar dapat menjadi sarana efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru. Kegiatan ini tidak hanya memperluas wawasan dan memperdalam penguasaan materi, tetapi juga meningkatkan keterampilan pedagogik serta profesionalisme. Dengan metode yang tepat, guru mampu menghasilkan karya yang bermanfaat bagi siswa, sekolah, maupun pengembangan dirinya sendiri. Oleh karena itu, penulisan buku ajar sebaiknya terus didorong sebagai bagian dari strategi peningkatan mutu pendidikan
