Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegemilangan Candi Borobudur sebagai simbol peradaban toleransi dunia dan pembentuk karakter masyarakat. Borobudur melahirkan nilai-nilai luhur dari berbagai aktivitas dan rutinitas yang secara bertahap menjadi bagian dari pembudayaan dalam membentuk karakter baik masyarakat. Cerminan tersebut lahir dari keteladanan dan pembiasaan warga yang menginternalisasi nilai-nilai hidup melalui keberadaan Candi Borobudur. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data diperoleh melalui triangulasi sumber dan metode. Analisis data dilakukan dengan model Miles dan Huberman yang mencakup reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegemilangan Borobudur sebagai simbol toleransi dunia mampu memperkuat karakter masyarakat melalui dua hal utama: (1) Borobudur sebagai simbol toleransi dunia yang membentuk perilaku dan karakter masyarakat melalui kegiatan rutin dan kunjungan spiritual, serta menjadi contoh harmoni antarumat beragama; (2) Borobudur menjadi simbol yang menginspirasi pembentukan karakter baik di masyarakat sekitarnya melalui pesan toleransi yang tersirat. Secara keseluruhan, keberadaan Candi Borobudur tidak hanya berdampak pada pelestarian nilai sejarah dan budaya, tetapi juga memiliki kontribusi signifikan dalam membangun karakter masyarakat yang inklusif, toleran, dan berkepribadian luhur.   This study aims to determine the splendor of Borobudur Temple as a symbol of world tolerance civilization and the formation of community character. Borobudur gives birth to noble values ​​from various activities and routines that gradually become part of the culture in forming good community character. This reflection is born from the exemplary behavior and habits of residents who internalize life values ​​through the existence of Borobudur Temple. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity is obtained through triangulation of sources and methods. Data analysis is carried out using the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the splendor of Borobudur as a symbol of world tolerance is able to strengthen community character through two main things: (1) Borobudur as a symbol of world tolerance that forms community behavior and character through routine activities and spiritual visits, as well as being an example of harmony between religious communities; (2) Borobudur becomes a symbol that inspires the formation of good character in the surrounding community through an implied message of tolerance. Overall, the existence of Borobudur Temple not only has an impact on preserving historical and cultural values but also has a significant contribution in building the character of an inclusive, tolerant and noble society.

Abstract

Civic disposition plays a crucial role in shaping students into responsible and active citizens, but its characteristics in the school environment require further study. This study aims to analyze the civic disposition of junior high school students and the factors influencing its development. A quantitative survey method was used involving 120 seventh-grade students from three public junior high schools in Magelang, Indonesia. A structured questionnaire measured five dimensions of civic disposition: responsibility, participation, politeness, empathy, and patience. The results showed that responsibility, politeness, and empathy were in the high category, while participation was in the medium category, and patience was the lowest dimension. These findings suggest that although students possess good ethical and social awareness, they still need encouragement to participate more actively in civic activities and to increase their patience in social interactions. Civic education should prioritize the balanced development of responsibility, participation, and patience to strengthen students' overall civic character. Recommendations are provided for strengthening learning programs that foster moral character and encourage active student involvement.
