Abstract

The main objective of this research is to describe the intensity of the related variables practices and its variations that occurred. This research uses quantitative approach with survey research method. The subject of this research was 26 schools in 8 regencies of West Kalimantan. In the process of data collection, researcher used a close-ended questionnaire and the obtained data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics technique. Researcher also uses Microsoft Excel Software and SPSS 26 in processing and analyzing the obtained data. The findings indicated that the practices of the Learning Environment and Learning Organization variables were frequently implemented in most schools, reflecting a focus on school effectiveness. However, the Home-School Partnership variable was less frequently practiced, suggesting that schools faced challenges in achieving school effectiveness in this aspect. Researcher found the variations that occurred based on the region of origin and school levels.

Abstract

Penggunaan LKM cenderung sudah mulai dilakukan pada masa pandemic ini, hanya saja perlu adanya inovasi dari LKM yang akan digunakan dalam pembelajaran. LKM ELektronik dan memiliki muatan budaya lokal dengan penyajian menggunakan Bahasa internasional, yaitu Bahasa inggris menjadi inovasi baru pada pendidikan matematika. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan agar menghasilkan LKM Elektronik bermuatan Etnomatematika pada pakaian adat Dayak iban dan Bahasa Inggris yang layak digunakan. Metode dalam penelitian ini yang digunakan merupakan model penelitian pengembangan dari Borg and Gall. Teknik pengumpul data menggunakan teknik komunikasi tak langsung yaitu lembar validasi dan angket, dan teknik pengukuran, yaitu tes. Hasil penelitian LKM elektronik bermuatan etnomatematika dan bahasa inggris mencapai skor 83, 61% pada penilaian sebagai media dan 82,47% pada penilaian materi sehingga kriteria dinyatakan sangat valid; LKM elektronik bermuatan etnomatematika dan bahasa inggris mencapai persentase 83% kriteria sangat praktis; LKM elektronik bermuatan etnomatematika mencapai 75% mahasiswa yang memiliki nilai minimal baik, sehingga terkategori efektif. The use of LKM tends to have started during this pandemic, it's just that there needs to be innovation from LKM that will be used in learning. LKM electronic and has local cultural content with a presentation using international language, namely English, is an innovation in mathematics education. The purpose of this research is to produce an Electronic LKM containing ethnomathematics on Dayak Iban's traditional clothes and English that are suitable for use. The research method used is Borg and Gall's development research. Data collection techniques use indirect communication techniques, namely validation sheets and questionnaires, and measurement techniques, namely tests. The results of the electronic MFI research containing ethnomathematics and English reached a score of 83, 61% on the assessment as a medium and 82.47% on the assessment of the material so the criteria were declared very valid; Electronic LKM containing ethnomathematics and English reaches a percentage of 83% very practical criteria; Electronic LKM containing ethnomathematics reaches 75% of students who have a good minimum score, so they are categorized as effective.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of affirmation comics in fostering students’ motivation in English language learning. Using a classroom action research (CAR) design, the study followed four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. A total of 15 students participated in two cycles of intervention. Data were collected through observations and questionnaires, which included both closed-ended and open-ended items, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results showed an increase in students’ learning motivation, particularly in terms of self-efficacy and appreciation for English learning. The classroom atmosphere shifted from being negative and unfocused in Cycle 1 to more positive and collaborative in Cycle 2. Students responded positively to the visuals and emotional messages in the comics, although challenges remained in comprehending the vocabulary. Unlike previous studies that primarily used comics to enhance linguistic skills, this study highlights the novelty of affirmation comics as a motivational tool that directly addresses students’ psychological and affective needs. This indicates that affirmation comics function not only as visual aids but also as affective scaffolds to reduce anxiety, strengthen self-efficacy, and build a positive classroom climate. Practically, teachers can integrate short, linguistically accessible affirmation comics with guided reflections or collaborative tasks to sustain students’ motivation and engagement in English learning.

Abstract

This descriptive study examined metacognitive awareness levels among students in the English Education Study Program at IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Using a cross-sectional survey, data was collected from 420 students across various academic years and backgrounds. The Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) by Schraw & Dennison (1994), consisting of 52 items across eight indicators and two main factors, was used to assess students' metacognitive skills. Analysis with descriptive statistics revealed that 86% of the students reported a high level of metacognitive awareness. This is significant as metacognitive awareness is linked to academic success, such as higher-grade point averages. The most frequently reported indicators were Debugging Strategies, Conditional Knowledge, and Evaluation, while Information Management Strategies emerged as the least used. Notably, students scored lower on items related to remembering information and using visual aids like diagrams. These results highlight both strengths and areas for growth in students' metacognitive awareness, highlighting specific skills that could be further developed to enhance their academic performance.

Abstract

Decades-long researches in a language in contact field have proved that when a learner learns a new language, his/her knowledge regarding their first language might interfere with their learning. If it occurs, the learning process will be more challenging. The data in this research was collected by using document study technique on twenty-five research outlines written by preservice English teachers in order to investigate the potential of interferences of Indonesian subject – verb agreement pattern into English. To do so, a descriptive study was adopted. The data was analysed by incorporating error and contrastive analyses. The finding of this research confirmed that four types of subject – verb agreements pattern of English had been interfered by that of Indonesian. The grammatically incorrect sentences, which were caused by such interferences, occurred very individually. It means that the interference varies from one preservice English teacher to another.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to reveal: (1) the students‘English achievement; (2) the relationship between students‘ residenceand students‘ English achievement; and (3) the significant relationshipbetween students‘ residence and students‘ English achievement. Theresearchers used correlational research design as the design of thisresearch. The population of this research is 112 students of the tenthgrade of SMAN 1 Silat Hulu and the total number of sample are 60students who are chosen by using stratified sampling technique. Theinstruments used questionnaire and documentation. Based on the resultof research finding and discussion in this research, it can be concludedthat the average of English achievement of the students‘ who live withparents was higher than the students who live with no-relative and thereare a significant correlation between students‘ residence and students‘English achievement. Abstract

Background. The rapid integration of digital reading in higher education has changed how students engage with academic texts. Conflicting evidence remains on whether digital formats support reading comprehension as well as print. This gap matters given the growing reliance on screen-based learning and the cognitive demands of academic reading.. Purpose. This meta-analysis examined whether technology-enhanced reading improves comprehension compared to print among undergraduate students. The study addressed three aspects: (1) overall differences in comprehension between digital and print formats, (2) variations across pre-, during-, and post-COVID periods, and (3) the moderating role of text modality (text-only vs. multimodal). Method. Following PRISMA guidelines, this study synthesised data from 13 empirical studies published between 2017 and 2025, involving 1,029 undergraduate students across L1, L2, and EFL contexts. Effect sizes were calculated using Hedges' g within a random-effects model. Subgroup and meta-regression analyses were conducted to examine moderating variables. Results. The findings showed a small but statistically significant advantage for print reading over digital formats (g = 0.265, p < .001). This advantage was more pronounced in post-pandemic studies (g = 0.333) and in text-only materials (g = 0.291), while multimodal texts showed greater variability. Meta-regression indicated no significant change in effect size over time, and publication bias was minimal. Print reading consistently supported deeper comprehension, particularly for cognitively demanding academic texts. Conclusion. Print yields stronger comprehension than digital formats in undergraduate reading, especially for complex academic texts. This meta-analysis informs teaching practice by recommending print for high-stakes reading and metacognitive scaffolding when digital formats are used.

There are limited studies on coaching academic writing using genre pedagogy (GP) with adult learners, specifically Indonesian EFL teachers. Abstract

This pre experimental study was carried out at the English Education Department of IKIP-PGRI Pontianak. The population was the third semester students and the sample consisted of one class. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling.. The technique of data collection in this research apply menstrument technique. The instruments used to collect the data was reading test. The tool of data collection apply in this research was pre-test and pos-test. The finding was the power of two strategy was effective to the student’s reading ability, it show that in the effec size the power of two strategy categorize strong effect to the student’s reading ability. Based on the result of the research, it is recommended that the teachers and the students should use the power of two strategy as one of alternative strategy in teaching reading
