Abstract

Tundang art is a form of oral literature from the Malay community in West Kalimantan that contains educational, moral, religious, and cultural values passed down through generations. This study aims to reveal the structure and function of tundang art as a traditional educational medium within the Malay society, focusing on tundang verses themed around the 27th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) of West Kalimantan Province. The research employs a structural and functional approach with a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through documentation, transcription, and text analysis of 15 purposively selected tundang verses. The results show that structurally, the tundang verses have a consistent rhyme pattern (a-b-a-b), consist of four lines per stanza, each line containing 6–9 syllables, with a division between the sampiran (opening) and isi (content) reflecting the typology of Malay pantun. Functionally, tundang serves as a medium for moral education (instilling ethics and politeness), religious education (strengthening Islamic values), cultural education (preserving local customs and traditions), and entertainment (engaging through rhythm and wordplay). This study concludes that tundang not only functions as a performing art but also as a rich educational vehicle, making it highly potential for development in literature learning based on local wisdom.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of webtoon media use on the short story writing skills of 11th grade students at Abdi Wacana Christian High School in Pontianak. The method used is experimental research with a pre-experimental design and a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection was carried out using tests and documentation. The research population included all 119 students in the 11th grade at SMA Kristen Abdi Wacana Pontianak, with a sample size of 15 students. Data analysis was performed using a t-test to determine the difference between the pretest and posttest results. The analysis results show that the average pretest score was 41.33, which is considered adequate, while the average posttest score increased to 66.67, which is considered excellent. The t-test results show a calculated t-value of 6.677, which is greater than the table t-value of 2.145 at a significance level of 0.05, indicating a significant difference between before and after the treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of webtoon media has a positive and significant effect on improving the short story writing skills of 11th grade students at Abdi Wacana Christian High School in Pontianak.

Abstract

Pembelajaran menulis komik jenaka di perguruan tinggi sering kali menghadapi tantangan dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan kreativitas mahasiswa. Webtoon sebagai media digital berbasis visual menawarkan potensi besar untuk membantu mahasiswa memahami struktur naratif, mengembangkan humor yang efektif, serta meningkatkan literasi visual dalam menulis. Namun, pemanfaatan Webtoon dalam konteks pembelajaran menulis komik jenaka masih terbatas dan belum banyak dikaji secara sistemati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan Webtoon sebagai media pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis komik jenaka mahasiswa serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan metode survei melalui kuesioner dan wawancara terhadap mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia di IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa merasa Webtoon membantu mereka memahami struktur dan teknik menulis komik jenaka, meningkatkan motivasi dalam menulis, serta mempermudah pengembangan ide cerita. Selain itu, faktor internal seperti minat dan kreativitas mahasiswa, serta faktor eksternal seperti dukungan dosen, akses terhadap sumber belajar, dan tantangan teknis turut memengaruhi efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis Webtoon. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Webtoon dapat menjadi media pembelajaran inovatif yang menggabungkan teknologi dengan kreativitas, sehingga mampu meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran menulis komik jenaka di perguruan tinggi. Oleh karena itu, penerapan Webtoon dalam kurikulum menulis kreatif perlu dipertimbangkan lebih lanjut untuk mengakomodasi kebutuhan mahasiswa di era digital.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to characterize directed speech actions in 100 Temiang Sawi Villages, Landak Regency, using the Dayak Pantu language. Pragmatics is the subject of inquiry. The study was conducted in Temiang Sawi Village, Ngabang District, Landak Regency, using a descriptive, qualitative research design. The data source in this research is the native Dayak Pantu language speaking community from 100 Temiang Sawi Village, Landak Regency. Data collection techniques and tools, direct communication techniques, listening techniques, skillful involvement with data collection tools, namely recording devices, data cards and documentation. Data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and inference from the data outcomes are all steps in the data analysis process. Furthermore, the data found in the research are four types of directive speech act data, namely ordering, ordering, begging and giving advice. The total amount of data on commands, orders, requests and suggestions was tens of data found. Command forms the words to ask, order, call, suggest, hope. Ordered forms of the words instructions and advice. Invoke soft and rough word forms. Providing suggestions on the form of words for opinions, suggestions and recommendations.

Abstract

Studi korelasional ini dirancang untuk menelaah signifikansi hubungan antara penguasaan elemen pembangun puisi dan kompetensi menulis puisi siswa di SMP Negeri 3 Monterado. Riset ini didasari oleh urgensi pedagogis akibat rendahnya capaian menulis siswa, yang diasumsikan berkorelasi dengan minimnya pemahaman teoretis terhadap struktur puisi. Desain kuantitatif diaplikasikan melalui pendekatan korelasional. Instrumen pengumpulan data mencakup angket (N=29) sebagai pengukur Variabel X dan tes unjuk kerja untuk menilai Variabel Y. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman (M=77,97) dan keterampilan menulis (M=70,10) berada pada kategori "Baik". Uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan hubungan positif dan signifikan (rhitung = 0,373 > rtabel = 0,355), meskipun tergolong rendah. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa pemahaman unsur puisi berkontribusi secara signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa, namun faktor lain di luar pemahaman teoretis turut berpengaruh.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan sikap kesetiaan bahasa siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Ashabul Kahfi terhadap berbahasa Indonesia, mendeskripsikan sikap kebanggaan bahasa siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Ashabul Kahfi terhadap bahasa Indonesia serta mendeskripsikan sikap kesadaran siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Ashabul Kahfi akan adanya norma berbahasa Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa teknik komunikasi langsung, komunikasi tidak langsung, dan dokumentasi. Alat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa pedoman wawancara, angket, dan dokumentasi. Teknik pemeriksaan keabsahan data pada penelitian ini adalah triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik. Teknik analisis data penelitian menggunakan model interaktif. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa sikap kesetiaan, kebanggaan, dan kesadaran akan adanya norma bahasa siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam ashabul kahfi dapat di kategorikan baik. Temuan ini memberikan gambaran positif tentang penggunaan bahasa Indonesia di kalangan siswa SMP Islam Ashabul Kahfi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works and their short story writing ability among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Kakap. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The population of this study consisted of all eighth-grade students, totaling 30 students. Data were collected using a multiple-choice objective test consisting of 25 items to measure students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works, and one essay test item to assess students’ ability to write short stories. The results of data analysis indicate that: (1) the total score for mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works reached 23.76, with an average score per student of 79.20 from 30 respondents. This result shows that students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works falls into the good category; (2) the total score of students’ short story writing ability from the essay test reached 21.56, with an average score per student of 71.86, which is also classified as good; and (3) correlation analysis using the mean formula and Pearson product-moment correlation reveals that there is a relationship between mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works and students’ short story writing ability. The research data show that the calculated r-value is greater than the r-table value (0.4052 > 0.361), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between students’ mastery of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of fictional literary works and their short story writing ability at SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Kakap.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the process of learning novel writing skills, the obstacles faced by students, and the solutions implemented by teachers in overcoming difficulties in writing novels for grade XII students of SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1, Kubu Raya Regency. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. The research subjects included Indonesian language teachers and grade XII students. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the process of learning to write novels is carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Teachers deliver material about the elements and structure of novels, provide examples, and guide students in developing story ideas based on personal experiences. However, learning is still dominated by lecture methods so that active student participation is not optimal. The main obstacles faced by students include difficulty in developing story ideas, low vocabulary mastery, weak development of plot and characterization, and low writing motivation. In addition, limited variations in learning methods and media also contribute to the low quality of student writing. The teacher provided solutions including encouragement and motivation, intensive guidance, relevant novel examples, gradual writing exercises, and utilizing students' personal experiences as sources of story ideas. These efforts were deemed effective in helping students understand the novel writing process and increasing their writing creativity. This research is expected to serve as a reference for teachers in developing more effective, creative, and meaningful novel writing lessons.

Abstract

Background: Public opinion analysis has become increasingly important in the digital era, where social media platforms generate large-scale textual data reflecting public perceptions toward environmental policies. Advances in Natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning enable systematic sentiment classification to support data-driven decision-making. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of several sentiment classification models in analyzing Indonesian-language social media data related to environmental policies. Method: The research employed a text mining pipeline including data crawling, preprocessing (case folding, tokenization, stopword removal, and stemming), and vectorization using TF-IDF. Three classification models Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) were trained and evaluated using accuracy and F1-score metrics. Results: Experimental findings indicate that LSTM achieved the highest performance with 91.7% accuracy and 91.2% F1-score, outperforming SVM (88.5%) and Logistic Regression (84.2%). Sentiment distribution analysis shows that public opinion is dominated by positive sentiment (47.5%), followed by neutral (32.0%) and negative (20.5%). Overall: The results demonstrate that deep learning-based models provide more robust contextual understanding and more reliable sentiment mapping for environmental policy analysis.
