Abstract

Tujuan pelatihan pemanfaatan Flip-book berbasis screencast-o-Matic video sebagai model pembelajaran dengan system asynchronous pelatihan untuk mengembangkan, membekali, menambah wawasan soft skill tenaga pendidik di SMK Alkhairat Pulau Morotai dalam mengoperasikan media pembelajaran berbasis e-learning dimasa penyebaran wabah Covid-19. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode observasi, ceramah, diskusi, dan pelatihan. Khalayak saran pelatihan yaitu tenaga pendidik di SMK Alkhairat Pulau Morotai. Waktu pelaksanaan program pengabdian masyarakan yaitu pada tanggal 27 Oktober 2021 di SMK Alkhairat Pulau Morotai, Kecamatan Morotai Selatan, Kabupaten Pulau Morotai. Peserta pelatihan program pengabdian masyarakat sangat merasa puas dengan padanya pelatihan e-learning system jaringan asynchronous. Selama proses pelatihan peserta pelatihan memperoleh wawasan baru tentang medesign bahan ajar dengan menggunakan Flip-book berbasis Screencast-o-Matic video dengan system asynchronous, dimana model pembelajaran ini dapat diterapkan pada proses belajar mengajar jarak jauh khususnya di daerah 3T dimasa pandemic. Respon positif yang diperlihatkan oleh peserta pelatihan membuktikan bahwa aplikasi Flip-book berbasis SoM dengan system asynchronous sangat penting untuk diterapkan di daerah daerah dengan akses internet yang buruk

Abstract

This research aims to improve students vocabulary mastery by using of mnemonic technique at eighth grade SMP IT Nurul Iman Pesawaran. This research used classroom action research design (CAR) to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery to support English language skills by using Mnemonic method (Harefa, 2020).The population of this research is the second grade SMP IT Nurul Iman Pesawaran, This research involves twenty students at the second gradeThis research consists of 3 cycles, the first cycle was carried out on March 5th 2024, in the first cycle the researcher made plans before entering class, such as lesson plans and learning media, then took action such as implementing the learning that had been designed, from the results of the learning the researcher carried out an evaluation then reflected in the second cycle. In this research, the researcher determined that the average score that students had to achieve was 75.00, and the results of the first cycle of learning using the mnemonic method got an average score of 61.00, because we had not reached the target, we carried out the second cycle on March 12th 2024. In the second cycle, the same as the first cycle, we reached the reflection stage and got a result of 67.75. Because we had not yet reached the target, we carried out the third cycle on March 19th 2024, by evaluating the learning that had not been optimal before, until we got an average score of 79.75. In this result, it shows an improvement students’ vocabulary mastery through mnemonic method for second grade of SMP IT Nurul Iman Pesawaran.

Abstract

Maritime English is essential for safe and effective communication in the global shipping industry, particularly in multilingual crew environments. Despite its significance, many cadets struggle to master technical maritime vocabulary due to traditional teaching approaches that prioritize grammar and general conversation. This study investigates the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in enhancing cadets’ mastery of maritime English technical vocabulary at Sorong Merchant Marine Polytechnic. Using a pre-test and post-test design, 20 cadets participated in simulation-based projects involving navigation planning, safety procedures, and maritime reporting. The results revealed a significant improvement in vocabulary acquisition, with average scores rising from 50.2% in the pre-test to 78.0% in the post-test. Statistical analysis using a paired-sample t-test confirmed the significance of this increase (p < 0.05). The findings suggest that PBL not only improves technical vocabulary comprehension but also supports the development of practical communication skills, critical thinking, and teamwork key competencies in maritime professions. This study recommends the integration of PBL into Maritime English curricula to better prepare cadets for real-world operational demands.

Abstract

This study was to know the effect of zoom app towards students' interest in learning. The population used in this study were 496 students majoring in Islamic Religious Education of STAIN Mandailing Natal. There were 38 students of the Department of Islamic Education to be sampled in this study. Data collection techniques that researchers use include questionnaires, pretest, posttest, and interviews The analysis data used the SPSS 16 program to determine the data tabulation and qualitative descriptive. The result of this study shown that there is an increased students' interest in learning by using zoom app as a learning modality during a pandemic. The use of it is proven to have a significant effect on students' enthusiasm for learning so that there is an increasing in students' interest in learning.

Abstract

English language acquisition is indispensable for cultivating communication competencies and fostering intercultural understanding from an early stage. However, Indonesian elementary students frequently encounter difficulties in vocabulary mastery due to repetitive instructional approaches and a deficiency of engaging, visual media tailored to young learners’ concrete learning styles. This research examines the efficacy of the gamified media, Animal Quest, in enhancing students’ English vocabulary. Employing a quantitative quasi-experimental methodology, forty first-grade students at SD Negeri 5 Pringsewu Barat were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and subsequently analyzed using SPSS 25.0 with paired and independent t-tests. The findings reveal a statistically significant improvement within the experimental group, which demonstrated a higher mean post-test score (87.05) compared to the control group (70.20). These results imply that gamification via Animal Quest effectively enhances vocabulary acquisition, engagement, and motivation among young learners. Furthermore, the study underscores that gamified storytelling media can serve as a valuable instructional innovation within primary English education, aligning with the objectives of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum and encouraging educators to adopt more interactive, student-centered pedagogical practices.

Abstract

This study “aimed to improve students’ vocabulary mastery through the implementation of the Make a Match learning model at Pontrenmu Darul Arqom Natar. The research was conducted as a Classroom Action Research (CAR) in two cycles, involving 10 eighth-grade students. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected using observation, documentation, and vocabulary tests, and were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings revealed significant improvements in students’ vocabulary achievement. The average score increased from 71.6 in Cycle I with 40% mastery to 83.3 in Cycle II with 90% mastery. Qualitative observations also showed that students became more enthusiastic, confident, and actively engaged in the learning process. In conclusion, the Make a Match model proved effective not only in enhancing vocabulary mastery but also in creating an interactive and enjoyable classroom environment. Therefore, this method is recommended as an alternative strategy for teaching vocabulary.”

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the impact of English speaking anxiety and academic achievement among second-semester English Education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung. Despite the recognized importance of speaking skills in EFL contexts, many Indonesian students experience significant anxiety that potentially impacts their academic performance. This research used a quantitative approach. The data were collected from 13 students through the adapted Speech Anxiety Thoughts Inventory (SATI) and speaking assessments evaluated with Brown and Abeywickrama's (2019) rubric. The Pearson correlation analysis showed a strong negative relationship between speaking anxiety and academic achievement (r = -0.876, p = 0.001), with anxiety accounting for 76.7% of the variance in speaking scores. Qualitative analysis of questionnaire responses identified fear of negative evaluation, limited vocabulary, and lack of confidence as primary anxiety sources. While the strong correlation indicates a significant relationship, the study's limitations, including small sample size and correlational design, preclude causal inferences. The finding underscores the need for pedagogical interventions addressing affective factors in language learning and suggests directions for future research with larger samples and experimentally designed.

Abstract

Textile waste and unused clothing remain environmental issues that require creative and sustainable utilization. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and skills in transforming textile waste into functional shopping bags that are unique and environmentally friendly. The activity was conducted by the Independent Community Service Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung on August 15, 2026, at Galeri Ruang UMKM, Pahoman, Bandar Lampung, involving 20 participants. The activities included education on waste utilization, a textile waste processing workshop, hands-on shopping bag production, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments. The results showed that each participant successfully produced one shopping bag. The participants’ average score increased from 54.9 to 87.4, representing an increase of 32.5 points or 59.2%, with all participants showing improvement. The activity also encouraged greater awareness of textile reuse and the dissemination of acquired skills to surrounding communities as an effort to sustain the program.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve students’ digital literacy and awareness in preventing cyberbullying through education on social media ethics, self-reflection, and strengthening the role of bystanders. The activity was conducted through educational sessions, interactive discussions, identification of forms of cyberbullying, reflection on digital behavior, and strengthening strategies for preventing and responding to cyberbullying. Participants were actively engaged in understanding the impacts of cyberbullying, evaluating their social media behavior, and developing commitments to safe, ethical, and responsible digital media use. The results indicated an improvement in students’ understanding and awareness of the forms, impacts, and prevention strategies related to cyberbullying. Students also demonstrated a better understanding of the importance of protecting privacy, using respectful communication, verifying information, and avoiding the dissemination of bullying-related content. The activity demonstrates that educational and reflective approaches can serve as preventive strategies for fostering a healthy, safe, and inclusive digital culture within the school environment.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen the Islamic character of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Ambarawa, Pringsewu, in using social media through an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) approach. The activity was conducted on August 13, 2026, involving 26 eighth-grade students. The activity was based on the high level of students’ social media use, which was not yet fully accompanied by an adequate understanding of ethics, responsibility, information verification, and privacy protection. The activity was implemented through interactive education, material delivery, discussions, and case studies concerning social media behavior. The materials focused on applying the values of tabayyun, honesty, trustworthiness, politeness, privacy protection, and responsibility for shared content. The results indicated improved participants’ understanding and awareness of the importance of applying Islamic values in digital activities. Participants demonstrated a better understanding of the importance of verifying information, using respectful language, protecting privacy, and considering the potential impact before sharing content. This activity demonstrates that Islamic Religious Education can serve as a strategic approach to developing ethical and responsible digital behavior.
