Abstract

This research aims to examine how the song “Berakhir di Aku” by Idgitaf represent the emotional realities and struggles of Sandwich Generation, especially among Generation Z, and how the use of social media platforms TikTok and Instagram facilitates expression and interaction within this group. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a virtual ethnography approach, collecting data through virtual interviews, observation of social media content, and literature review. Data analysis is conducted using Cyber Media Analysis, which explores various levels of digital interaction. The findings indicate that “Berakhir di Aku” serves as a significant medium for emotional release and self-reflection, while TikTok and Instagram function as virtual spaces that support the process of self-acceptance through diverse forms of expression and communication among members of the Sandwich Generation. This study contributes by finding that social media is not only used as a means of entertainment, but has an important function as a space for emotional support and identity socialization, which facilitates the process of self-acceptance among members of the Sandwich Generation, through intense virtual interactions.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed public relations practices within government institutions. Social media has emerged as a strategic instrument for disseminating public information, emphasizing transparency, interactivity, and community participation. This study aims to analyze the role of the Public Relations Office of the West Java Provincial Government in managing the Instagram account @humas_jabar as an instrument for public dissemination. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, using data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (2019), while Rogers’ (2003) Diffusion of Innovations theory served as the conceptual framework to understand the communication strategies implemented by Humas Jabar. The findings reveal that the @humas_jabar account is managed systematically through stages of planning, production, and content distribution, emphasizing message relevance, visual strength, and participatory public engagement. The communication strategies adopted reflect the five key attributes of innovation diffusion: relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability. Through a visual and interactive approach, Humas Jabar successfully establishes two-way communication between the government and the public, enhances public trust, and strengthens the image of the regional government as a transparent and responsive institution. Therefore, Instagram functions not only as an information medium but also as a strategic platform for realizing accountable and human-centered public communication governance in the digital era.

Abstract

AbstrakKeterampilan berbicara di depan umum (public speaking) merupakan kompetensi esensial bagi siswa yang mempersiapkan diri ke jenjang pendidikan tinggi, khususnya pada bidang Studi Komunikasi. Namun, banyak siswa SMA masih menghadapi hambatan psikologis berupa kecemasan dan kesulitan dalam mengekspresikan ide secara percaya diri di depan publik. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan di SMAN 15 Garut dengan mengintegrasikan platform media digital lokal, yaitu podcast "Suara Garut", sebagai sarana pembelajaran praktis. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design melalui tahapan sosialisasi teori komunikasi dasar serta praktik langsung simulasi produksi konten berbasis audio-visual . Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman siswa terhadap elemen verbal-vokal-visual, teknik vokal, serta perbedaan karakteristik komunikasi panggung dan podcast. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan penguasaan strategi yang lebih baik dalam mengelola kecemasan dan mengatasi kondisi kehilangan fokus (blank) saat berbicara. Simpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah penggunaan media berbasis podcast efektif dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang relevan dan interaktif, yang secara nyata memperkuat kecakapan public speaking siswa sebagai bekal akademik di masa depan. Kata kunci: skill komunikasi; pembelajaran media digital; podcast; public speaking; suara garut. AbstractPublic speaking is an essential skill for students preparing for higher education, particularly in the field of Communication Studies. However, many high school students still experienced anxiety and difficulty expressing their ideas confidently in front of others. To address this issue, a public speaking outreach program was conducted at SMAN 15 Garut by integrating a local digital media platform, the “Suara Garut” podcast, as a practical learning tool. The activity included the delivery of fundamental communication concepts and hands-on practice through audio-based simulation exercises using the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The implementation of the program resulted in improved student understanding of verbal–vocal–visual components, vocal techniques, and distinctions between stage communication and podcast delivery. Students also demonstrated better strategies for managing anxiety and overcoming “blank” moments while speaking. Overall, the use of podcast-based media proved effective in providing a relevant, engaging environment that strengthened students’ public speaking abilities as preparation for future academic pursuits. Kata kunci: communication skills; digital media learning; podcast; public speaking; suara garut.
