Abstract

This article aims to describe the abductive reasoning process in solving algebra. In this research, the literature study method was used. Based on the results of studies that have been conducted, abductive reasoning helps students make creative and flexible guesses, especially when the solution is not clear at the start. By applying abductive reasoning to solve algebra problems, students are directed to recognize abductive problems, identify various solutions then select the best solution, and assimilate. The solution found must be re-evaluated because there is no guarantee that the solution obtained from the abductive reasoning process is correct.

Abstract

Does Problem-Based Learning Integrated into PHET Improve Mathematical Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Ability? Objectives: This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the use of PBL combined with PHET rather than PBL about mathematical critical thinking and problem-solving ability. Methods: This research employed an experimental approach involved a sample of 63 students of grade VIII’s favorite MTs in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, divided into 2 classes (PBL class combined with PHET and regular PBL class). The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics combined with Mann-Whitney’s statistical test. Findings: This research finds out that  there is no difference in the influence of the intervention on the application of PBL combined with PHET with the usual PBL group in developing students' mathematical problem-solving ability, and there are differences in the influence of interventions on the implementation of PHET integrated PBL and the application of ordinary PBL in developing students' mathematical critical thinking ability. Conclusion: Based on findings, the importance of providing adequate computer facilities for students when they want to implement website-based learning media such as PHET. Keywords: PHET, PBL, problem solving, critical thinking, and mathematics.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i2.202215

Abstract

Abstract:Teaching skills must be mastered by the teacher so that learning is meaningful, efficient, and enjoyable. Teacher teaching skills between male and female teachers have a significant effect on learning achievement, learning motivation, and student curiosity in studying. The purpose of this study was to investigate the teaching skills of student-teacher candidates in (PLP/microteaching) in schools in terms of gender differences. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were taken by 4 mathematics education students at UIN Surabaya who were conducting microteaching at private Islamic High School Sidoarjo, East Java, consisting of 2 female students and 2 male students. The research instruments were the Lesson Implementation Plan assessment supervision sheets and teaching practice observation sheets. Data analysis techniques consist of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results of this study found that the category of teaching skills for two female students was in the very good category, while one male student was in the very good category and one student was in the good category.Abstrak:Keterampilan mengajar harus dikuasai oleh guru agar pembelajaran yang dilakukan bermakna, efektif dan menyenangkan. Keterampilan mengajar guru laki-laki dan perempuan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar, motivasi belajar, dan rasa ingin tahu peserta didik dalam pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu investigasi keterampilan mengajar mahasiswa calon guru dalam PLP (Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan) di sekolah ditinjau dari perspektif gender. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini diambil 4 subjek mahasiswa pendidikan matematika UIN Surabaya yang sedang melakukan microteaching di MA Swasta Sidoarjo Jawa Timur, yang terdiri 2 mahasiswa perempuan dan 2 mahasiswa laki-laki. Instrumen penelitian ini yaitu lembar supervisi penilaian Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) dan lembar observasi praktik mengajar. Teknik analisis data terdiri dari pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa kategori keterampilan mengajar dua mahasiswa perempuan berada di kategori sangat baik, satu mahasiswa laki-laki berada di kategori sangat baik dan satu mahasiswa berada di kategori baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan permainan tradisional Hompimpa terhadap peningkatan pemahaman konsep peluang dalam pembelajaran matematika. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep peluang yang bersifat abstrak, serta masih dominannya metode pembelajaran konvensional yang kurang melibatkan pengalaman langsung siswa. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain one-group pretest-posttest, yang melibatkan 33 siswa kelas VIII-E SMP Negeri 2 Waru pada tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pilihan ganda berisi lima soal yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah penerapan pembelajaran menggunakan permainan Hompimpa. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan inferensial menggunakan uji normalitas Shapiro–Wilk dan uji-t berpasangan (paired sample t-test) melalui bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 25. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada peluang pemahaman konsep, dengan rata-rata skor meningkat dari 0,6061 menjadi 0,7576 dan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa penerapan permainan Hompimpa efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep matematika. Selain itu, pembelajaran menjadi lebih interaktif, menyenangkan, dan bermakna. Oleh karena itu, permainan tradisional dapat dijadikan strategi pembelajaran yang relevan, kontekstual, dan berbasis budaya lokal untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di sekolah.Kata Kunci: Permainan Hompimpa, pemahaman konsep

Abstract

 Pembelajaran matematika umunya dipandang sebagai salah satu  bidang pelajaran yang tidak mudah dan abstrak di kalangan peserta didik. Sebagai upaya untuk menanggulangi hal tersebut sehingga dibutuhkan model pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar melalui keterlibatan aktif dari peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, model pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan aspek kolaboratif dan diferensiasi menjadi penting diterapkan guna meningkatkan hasil belajar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengkaji pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Group Investigation (GI) yang terintegrasi dengan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi terhadap hasil belajar matematika peserta didik kelas VII di MTs Taswirul Afkar Surabaya. Pembelajaran diferensiasi yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini merupakan diferensiasi dalam aspek proses. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuantitatif dan menggunakan desain penelitian One Group Pretest-Posttest. Pengumpulan data didapatkan dari hasil pretest dan posttest berupa soal esai, selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Uji Normalitas Shapiro-Wilk, Uji Homogenitas Levene Test, dan Uji Sample Paired T-Test. Hasil dari analisis data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Group Investigation (GI) yang dikombinasikan dengan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa secara signifikan. Secara umum, siswa menunjukkan perubahan positif dalam proses belajar mereka seperti meningkatnya motivasi, keaktifan dalam proses pembelajaran dan rasa percaya diri selama mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan model GI yang terintegrasi dengan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar matematika siswa.

Abstract

Pemecahan masalah dalam matematika memiliki peran penting. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantara salah satunya yaitu gender. Kemampuan penting yang menjadi inti dari pemecahan masalah yaitu proses matematisasi. Proses matematisasi terbagi menjadi dua yaitu matematisasi horizontal dan matematisasi vertikal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan proses matematisasi siswa vertikal dan horizontal dalam pemecahan masalah matematika SPLTV berdasarkan perspektif gender. Jenis penelitian digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek diambil dari siswa kelas X MAU dan MBI yang diberikan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika. Kemudian melalui tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika diperoleh dua siswa laki-laki dan dua siswa perempuan untuk melakukan tes proses matematisasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan mengolah hasil tes, wawancara, dan observasi. Data direduksi, dikategorikan berdasarkan jenis matematisasi dan gender, kemudian disajikan dalam bentuk deskriptif naratif untuk menggambarkan proses matematisasi siswa dalam pemecahan masalah SPLTV. Selanjutnya dilakukan penarikan kesimpulan untuk menentukan karakteristik matematisasi horizontal dan vertikal siswa serta makna temuan penelitian. Siswa laki-laki dan siswa perempuan memenuhi semua indikator dari proses matematisasi horizontal, sedangkan dalam indikator proses matematisasi vertikal siswa laki-laki hanya memenuhi satu indikator dan siswa perempuan memenuhi dua indikator.

Abstract

The formation of study groups at the junior high school level plays an important role in improving the quality of learning and promoting equality in student learning outcomes. However, the process of grouping students is still largely carried out manually based on teachers’ intuition, subjective observations, or attendance data, which may lead to mismatches in students’ abilities and hinder the optimal achievement of learning objectives within the school environment. This study aims to identify study groups based on students’ academic data at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Samarinda. The data used include scores in science (exact) and non-science (non-exact) subjects, exam results, assignment scores, attendance records, and parents’ educational backgrounds. The research stages consist of data cleaning, feature engineering, standardization, the application of the DBSCAN algorithm, and evaluation using the Silhouette Score. The analysis results reveal three main clusters: cluster 0 with 89 students (medium achievement), cluster 1 with 50 students (high achievement), and cluster 2 with 5 students (low achievement). In addition, 14 students (8.9%) were identified as noise. The Silhouette Score value of 0.217 indicates that the cluster separation quality is relatively weak; however, DBSCAN successfully detected outliers that may not be identified by other algorithms. These findings suggest that, although the cluster quality is not yet optimal, the applied algorithm remains useful for exploring students’ learning patterns and can serve as a basis for more targeted learning interventions.

Abstract

Employee performance evaluation is a crucial aspect of public organizational management, including at the public broadcasting institution TVRI East Kalimantan Station. To date, attendance indicators obtained from the Employee Management Information System (SIMPEG) have often been used as the primary benchmark, as the data are objectively and structurally available. However, a single attendance-based approach risks overlooking more substantive aspects of work achievement. Therefore, this study integrates attendance data with the Employee Performance Targets (SKP) to construct a more representative performance label. The method employed is a classification approach using the Naïve Bayes (GaussianNB) algorithm. The research dataset consists of attendance records (normal attendance, leave, official duty, study assignment, early departure, absence, and total working days) and quantized SKP scores. Performance labels were generated using a composite score (0.30 × attendance percentage + 0.70 × normalized SKP), which was then categorized into three classes: Excellent, Good, and Needs Improvement. The model was trained using SIMPEG and SKP data that had undergone preprocessing, data partitioning, and class balancing. Experimental results show that the model achieved an accuracy of 0.83, with a precision of 0.86, recall of 0.84, and F1-score of 0.83 on the test data. These results indicate that the model can consistently recognize employee performance patterns across all categories. Practically, this study offers a simple, efficient, and easily implementable predictive framework to support more objective processes of coaching, monitoring, and reward allocation within TVRI East Kalimantan Station.

Abstract

Hasil belajar matematika siswa di MTs Taswirul Afkar masih rendah karena pembelajaran cenderung masih berpusat pada guru melalui penerapan model Direct Instruction yang menekankan metode ceramah dalam penyampaian materi, tanpa dukungan penggunaan media pembelajaran yang interaktif serta menarik, sehingga partisipasi tinggi peserta didik untuk memahami materi pelajaran menjadi terbatas. Kondisi ini diperkuat oleh temuan awal di kelas yang menunjukkan sebagian besar siswa belum mencapai KKM. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menelaah penerapan model Cooperative Learning berbantuan media digital bernama QuizWizzher sebagai upaya meningkatan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Riset ini dijalankan melalui pendekatan kuantitatif melalui desain one group pretest–posttest. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 25 siswa. Instrumen diperoleh melalui pretest dan posttest, nilai rata-rata pretest dan posttest menunjukkan adanya peningkatan, di mana rata-rata posttest lebih tinggi sebesar 5,600 poin dibanding pretest. Proses analisis data dilaksanakan melalui penerapan uji Paired Sample t-Test dengan SPSS 27. Nilai t hitung tercatat -4,802 memiliki derajat kebebasan (df) 24, sedangkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,005. Oleh karena itu, hasil analisis menunjukkan jika hipotesis nol (H0) tidak diterima serta hipotesis alternatif (H1) diterima artinya model Cooperative Learning berbantuan QuizWizzher terbukti efektif mendorong peningkatan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Gold is one of the most important investment commodities in the global financial system, widely recognized for its role as a safe-haven asset and its ability to preserve value during periods of inflation, economic instability, and geopolitical uncertainty. Despite its relative stability compared to other financial instruments, gold prices exhibit significant volatility driven by various macroeconomic factors, including exchange rate movements, inflation dynamics, global monetary policy decisions, and market sentiment. As a result, accurate gold price prediction remains a critical challenge for investors, financial analysts, and policymakers. This study aims to conduct a comparative performance analysis of two machine learning algorithms, namely Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Support Vector Regression (SVR), in predicting gold prices represented by the XAU/USD currency pair. The research utilizes daily historical gold price data from 2004 to 2025 obtained from the Kaggle platform. The dataset includes key financial attributes such as Open, High, Low, Close prices, and trading Volume. Data preprocessing steps involve data cleaning, chronological sorting, handling missing values through linear interpolation, feature selection, and normalization using the Min-Max scaling technique. The dataset is then divided sequentially into training and testing sets with an 80:20 ratio to preserve temporal dependencies. The LSTM model is designed to capture long-term temporal patterns using the closing price as a time series input, while the SVR model leverages multiple input features to model non-linear relationships through kernel-based regression. Model performance is evaluated using Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and the coefficient of determination (R²). The experimental results demonstrate that the LSTM model outperforms the SVR model across all evaluation metrics. The LSTM achieved an RMSE of 0.0082, an MAE of 0.0060, and an R² value of 0.9969, indicating a very high level of predictive accuracy and strong generalization capability. In contrast, the SVR model recorded an RMSE of 0.0289, an MAE of 0.0143, and an R² of 0.9611, reflecting lower precision, particularly during periods of high price volatility. These findings confirm that LSTM is more effective in capturing complex temporal dependencies and non-linear dynamics inherent in gold price time series data. Consequently, LSTM is recommended as a superior approach for long-term gold price forecasting, while SVR may serve as a complementary or baseline predictive model in financial time series analysis.
