Abstract

Education is a basic human need with the aim of achieving high productivity. The results of field surveys in Banawa Regency show that the availability of educational facilities to meet educational needs, based on population projections in 2044, has not yet reached the optimal level. Therefore, careful planning is needed in improving and placing educational facilities. This research aims to evaluate the availability of educational facilities according to the needs of the population, by applying an analysis of the carrying capacity of facilities based on public service standards regulated in SNI 03-1733-2004 concerning urban area planning. The methodology used involves analysis of the carrying capacity of facilities to determine the population's need for educational facilities, population projections using geometric formulas to calculate the expected number of residents in the projected year, as well as spatial analysis using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to assess the distribution of facilities. education in Banawa District. The findings from this research indicate that currently there are 82 units of educational facilities in Banawa District, consisting of 39 PAUD units, 31 elementary school units, 8 junior high school units, and 4 high school units. However, additional educational facilities are needed by 7 PAUD units, 5 elementary school units, 4 junior high school units and 8 high school units in Banawa District. Keywords: Education, Facilities, Carrying Capacity, Banawa

Abstract

The Sapiang Island cluster has potential for tourism activities, especially beach tourism. Data from the Central Sulawesi Tourism Office shows a continuous increase from 2022 to 2024. The number of tourists in Central Sulawesi in 2024 is highest in April and December, while the lowest is in August. By district/city, the highest number of visits is in Palu city with a percentage of 24.1 percent, followed by Morowali Regency with 12.2 percent, Sigi Regency with 10.4 percent, and Donggala Regency with 9.8 percent. The objective of this research is to analyze and evaluate the land suitability level for tourism development. The method used in this research is a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method. The data analysis was measured using coastal tourism land suitability analysis with bio-physical parameters modified by the researcher, with eight parameters. The results at the three points were categorized as Suitable (S1) with different percentages. The first observation point, Darat Island, received a score of 88.69%, while the second observation point, Bobonoan Island, received a suitability index score of 98.81%. The third observation point, Laot Island, received a suitability index score of 86.31%. The land suitability index results from the three observation locations conducted by the researchers obtained a value of 91.27%, which falls into the Suitable (S1) category for tourism activities. The results of the grouping of tourism activities based on physical parameters show that these physical parameters are dominant for beach recreation activities, with fourteen parameters being met.

Abstract

This study aims to implement the values of local wisdom of the Ngata Toro community in developing ecological literacy among students at SMAN 5 Sigi. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design, namely an untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples. The research population consisted of Class XI IPS 1 with 30 students as the experimental group and Class XI IPS 2 with 28 students as the control group. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test consisting of 20 items. The results of hypothesis testing (t-test) using IBM SPSS version 20 indicated that the mean posttest score of the experimental group was 79.17, while that of the control group was 60.18. The obtained Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.001, which is lower than 0.05 (Sig. 0.001 < 0.05), indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. It can be concluded that the implementation of the local wisdom values of the Ngata Toro community has a significant effect on improving ecological literacy among students at SMAN 5 Sigi.

Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to develop an interactive learning media in Microsoft Sway to enhance participants' spatial thinking skills.Methodology - Method study using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The study population consisted of grade 11 students at SMA N 1 Banawa across 8 classes. A sample of 30 participants was drawn from class XI C IPS. The instrument included 1) tests to think spatially as a pre-test and post-test, 2) questionnaire validation and eligibility expert technology learning, and 3) questionnaire teacher and participant responses to educate. Analyse data for effectiveness testing using the N-Gain test. Eligibility was measured based on expert validator results, technology learning outcomes, teacher and participant responses, and the educational use percentage formula.Findings - Research results obtained results validation media expert with a score of 96.2 is included in the excellent category, or worthy, which is Very worthy, and did need to be revised; however, for perfection, the fixed validator product provides suggestions for improvement. From the effectiveness test, an N-gain value of 0.50, or an enter criterion of medium, was obtained, indicating that Microsoft Sway interactive media was developed effectively to improve spatial thinking. "Feasibility test results based on teacher and participant responses yielded scores of 82 and 86, respectively, both classified as Good. This indicates the media is suitable for use and requires no revision. The interactive media developed in Microsoft Sway is practical and feasible for enhancing participants' spatial thinking skills.Contribution - This research provides a positive contribution to the application of technology, media, and digital teaching materials. Suggestions for future researchers include developing interactive Microsoft Sway-based media for other learning materials or subjects and conducting product trials on a broader scale.

Abstract

The integration of digital technology into geography education requires innovative learning media capable of facilitating students’ understanding of abstract concepts. One topic that often presents learning challenges is the lithosphere, as geological processes such as tectonism, volcanism, and seismic activity are difficult to visualize through conventional instructional resources. This study aimed to develop an interactive digital comic as a learning medium for lithosphere material in Grade X senior high schools and to evaluate its feasibility for classroom use. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, limited to the Analysis, Design, and Development stages. The research was conducted in four schools in Palu, Indonesia, involving one material expert, one media expert, four geography teachers, and 65 students. Data were collected through observations and questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The developed product integrated comic-based storytelling, interactive three-dimensional visualizations created with Assemblr Edu, web-based accessibility through Canva, and digital assessment activities. The validation results indicated that the interactive digital comic achieved a feasibility score of 96.66% from the material expert and 86.66% from the media expert. Practitioner validation scores ranged from 84% to 98%, while student responses reached an overall score of 89.96%. These findings demonstrate that the developed media is highly feasible for geography learning. The study highlights the potential of integrating visual storytelling, interactive multimedia, and digital technologies to support technology-enhanced geography education and facilitate students’ engagement with complex lithosphere concepts.

Abstract

This research discusses the impact of the Independent Campus Learning Policy (MBKM) launched by the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture. MBKM has created a new paradigm in the education system in Indonesia, especially in higher education. Tadulako University, as an educational institution that follows government policy directions, has implemented the MBKM program. In this context, geography education has been implemented and entered the next generation. Therefore, evaluation of the effectiveness of this program is considered important. Previous research has revealed the positive impact of Merdeka Belajar Merdeka Campus on student quality. Student quality involves increasing knowledge, understanding, experience, creativity, communication skills, social relations, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. This study investigates the impact of MBKM activities on students' abilities, particularly in basic competencies such as literacy, numeracy, and geography knowledge. This research method is a descriptive quantitative approach using survey methods. The survey was conducted on students who had participated in the MBKM program. The research instrument is a competency test that involves aspects of literacy, numeracy, and general knowledge of geography. The results showed that the MBKM program had a positive impact on improving student abilities. The geography education study program is also seen as excellent, with a literacy understanding level reaching 50% in the adequate category, a numeracy understanding level of 39% in the adequate category, and a general knowledge understanding level reaching 44% in the good category
