Abstract

Herein, we reported the synthesis and corrosion inhibition studies of poly (N-tert- amylacrylamide-co- N-phenyl acrylamide) copolymers. The copolymers are synthesized by free radical polymerization using NTA and NPAM monomers . The synthesized copolymers are subjected to corrosion inhibition behavior by EIS and PDP methods. Both the methods showed same results of 85.0 percentage of inhibition.

Abstract

Fe3O4 Nanocomposite Hydrogels were prepared by free radical polymerization using N-tert-amyl acrylamide , Acrylamide and Sodium acrylate monomers at 60OC. Fe3O4 NPs was intercalated via in situ method. The synthesized nanocomposite Hydrogels conformed by FT-IR spectroscopy. Surface morphology of the nanocomposite hydrogels indicated the ferrate nanoparticles are intercalated uniformly throughout the polymer matrix. The XRD pattern of the hydrogel showed the presence of nanoparticles in the matrix with certain crystallinity nature. UV-visible absorption studies reveal the catalytic activity of Methylene Blue dye molecules in the aqueous medium by the Nanocomposite hydrogels.

Abstract

RSPAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya merupakan rumah sakit tipe A yang sudah dilengkapi dengan Instalasi Pengolah Air Limbah (IPAL) sejak tahun 1997 dan saat ini mempunyai kapasitas IPAL mencapai 750 m3/ hari atau setara dengan 1.500 TT pasien. Dalam kesehariannya Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL) RSPAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya mengolah air limbah dengan kapasitas 218 m3/hari, tentu hal ini mempengaruhi penggunaan energi listrik dan potensi dampak lingkungan yang timbul. Dari kondisi tersebut perlu dilakukan evaluasi kebutuhan energi listrik dan potensi dampak yang timbul dengan menggunakan pendekatan Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) dengan menggunakan software SimaPro dan metode Impact 2002+. Dari hasil analisis LCA diketahui dampak respiratory inorganics, global warming, dan non-renewable energy merupakan 3 dampak terbesar yang timbul. Alternatif perbaikan yang dapat diberikan untuk menurunkan dampak lingkungan dari IPAL RSPAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya yaitu dengan menggunakan power inverter, pemantauan, pembersihan, pembaruan secara berkala pada unit pengolahan, menerapkan manajemen lingkungan bangunan, dan green hospital.

Abstract

Heavy metals, including iron (Fe), are commonly found in industrial wastes and end up contaminating water sources. Although their presence is essential in various industrial applications, high concentrations of heavy metals can lead to toxicity and health problems. Therefore, adsorption methods have been used as an approach to reduce the concentration of heavy metals in water. Maggot shells have been identified as potential biosorbents because they contain chitin compounds that can interact with heavy metals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of stirring time on the adsorption process of maggot shells on the heavy metal Fe. The adsorption method used was a batch system with a stirring speed of 150 rpm. The results showed that the increase in adsorption efficiency was consistent with the increase in stirring time. Stirring time plays a crucial role in enhancing the interaction between the biosorbent and Fe metal ions, resulting in increased removal efficiency. However, the effect of stirring time is limited after the saturation point is reached.

Abstract

The use of water in industrial activities is a problem that needs to be given strong attention to always be used as a benchmark for water quality, especially in the industrial activities of PT Petrokimia Gresik. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of ZA II factory wastewater as a substitute for NaOH in the pH neutralization process. The effectiveness of ZA II fertilizer wastewater as a pH neutralizer can be determined by testing the pH, TSS and PO4 levels. The method used in this research is neutralization. The variation used is a mixture of neutralized water, NaOH and ZA II waste water. The NaOH used was 0.1 ml; 0.3 ml; 0.5 ml. Based on the research results, it is stated that ZA II fertilizer wastewater can increase pH levels because of its alkaline nature, from 6 to 8. Utilizing ZA II wastewater can reduce the cost of using NaOH, which is relatively expensive. This research can reduce the cost of using NaOH 89.3% cheaper than before, namely IDR 9,000,000/month.

Abstract

The development of the times will always be accompanied by an increase in population, so infrastructure and a comfortable place to live are needed. However, currently many residential areas are close to public facilities such as stations, highways, airports, and so on. This condition causes noise intensity. Noise intensity can cause health, psychological, communication and productivity problems. Noise is a source of anxiety or pollution, especially in big cities in Indonesia. So, efforts are needed to deal with this. One solution is a natural barrier using Japanese bamboo plants (Pseudosa japonica). Noise measurements are carried out based on the Decree of the Minister of the Environment Number 48 of 1996, namely in a simple way. This research aims to determine the effect of using noise dampening using Japanese bamboo plants and the factors that influence it From the measurements and tests that have been carried out, it is concluded that this barrier can have a significant influence on noise reduction. Noise has little effect on temperature and altitude. The reason is the position of the building is still higher than the position of the bamboo plants which serve as barriers. The highest Ls values ​​are found on Mondays and Saturdays because these 2 days are the start of community activities and the start of holidays. Based on these results, it is necessary to improve the source and arrangement of Japanese bamboo plants according to technical instructions.

Abstract

Indonesia terkenal dengan kekayaan sumber daya alamnya yang sangat melimpah. Negara ini memiliki salah satu hutan terluas di dunia, lahan pertaniannya sangat subur, dan pemandangan alamnya yang memukau. Wilayah perairannya yang luas juga menyediakan berbagai jenis ikan yang memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan manusia. Salah satu jenis tambang yang krusial adalah pertambangan tanah liat. Tanah liat adalah jenis tanah yang terdiri dari partikel-partikel sangat kecil dalam skala mikroskopis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan deskriptif dengan tujuan memberikan gambaran yang sangat detail mengenai rencana pertambangan. Dalam kerangka penelitian ini, software Global Mapper juga digunakan. Pertambangan ini direncanakan akan berlokasi di Kabupaten Trenggalek, Provinsi Jawa Timur, dengan luas rencana seluas 4,88 hektar. Estimasi cadangan tanah liat mencapai sekitar ± 594.803 m3. Rencana produksi pertambangan tanah liat ini adalah sekitar ± 140 m3 per hari, dengan asumsi jumlah hari kerja efektif per bulan adalah 25 hari, sehingga rencana produksi tanah liat adalah sekitar ± 3.418 m3 per bulan atau ± 45.122 m3 per tahun. Rencana kegiatan pertambangan tanah liat akan dilakukan hingga tahun kelima, sesuai dengan rencana wilayah pertambangan. Indonesia is famous for its abundant natural resources. This country has one of the largest forests in the world, very fertile agricultural land, and stunning natural scenery. Its vast water area also provides various types of fish which have an important role in human life. One crucial type of mining is clay mining. Clay is a type of soil that consists of very small particles on a microscopic scale. This research uses a descriptive approach method with the aim of providing a very detailed description of the mining plan. Within the framework of this research, Global Mapper software was also used. This mining is planned to be located in Trenggalek Regency, East Java Province, with a planned area of ​​4.88 hectares. Estimated clay reserves reach approximately ± 594,803 m3. The clay mining production plan is around ± 140 m3 per day, assuming the number of effective working days per month is 25 days, so the clay production plan is around ± 3,418 m3 per month or ± 45,122 m3 per year. The planned clay mining activities will be carried out until the fifth year, in accordance with the mining area plan.

Abstract

̶Permasalahan lingkungan yang disebabkan oleh sampah telah menjadi problematika bersama. Upaya menjaga lingkungan sekitar perlu dikenalkan sejak dini sehingga tim bina desa pengolahan sampah Fakultas Teknik UPN Veteran Jawa Timur melakukan edukasi mengenai pemilahan sampah bagi siswa sekolah dasar di Desa Giripurno, Kecamatan Bumiaji, Kota Batu. Edukasi ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran dan kepedulian siswa terhadap kondisi pencemaran lingkungan akibat sampah. Pemberian materi edukasi meliputi konsep tentang sampah yang ada di lingkungan sekitar, klasifikasi sampah dengan analisa keadaan sekitar, pentingnya pemilahan sampah untuk dilakukan, manfaat pemilahan sampah serta dampak bila tidak melakukan pemilahan sampah dengan benar. Kegiatan edukasi kepada para siswa yang telah dilakukan ini memberikan pengetahuan bagi siswa-siswi SDN 02 Giripurno mengenai pemilahan sampah dengan benar. Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan kemampuan para siswa mengenai dampak negatif adanya sampah sehingga perlu dilakukan pemilahan serta mengetahui berbagai pemanfaatan sampah yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi kuantitas sampah.

Abstract

Desa Holimombo memiliki berbagai potensi sumberdaya alam. Potensi sumber daya alam yang dimiliki oleh Desa Holimombo yaitu potensi kelautan, geologi, serta hidrologi pariwisata. Salah satu permasalahan di Desa Holimombo yaitu tidak adanya sumber air permukaan. Sumber air yang dimanfaatkan masyarakat selama ini merupakan air yang keluar dari celah batu, tetapi mengalami percampuran dengan air laut (intrusi air laut) sehingga rasa air yang digunakan menjadi asin. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan air tanah sebagai sumber air bersih. PKM ini dilakukan di Desa Holimombo Kecamatan Wabula Kabupaten Buton pada tanggal 6 Oktober - 2 November 2023. Metode yang digunakan yakni sosialisasi, pengeboran air tanah, dan pelatihan pengukuran kualitas air. Pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam pemanfaatan air tanah sebagai sumber air bersih berkontrubusi besar terhadap pembangunan daerah. Keberadaan air tanah hasil pengeboran di Desa Holimombo dapat menjadikan daerah tersebut mandiri akan sumber air bersih. Air yang selama ini digunakan dengan kondisi yang tidak layak minum sesuai dengan standar Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia Nomor 492 Tahun 2010 bisa ditinggalkan dengan adanya sumber air baru.

Abstract

The northern coastal area of ​​Palang Sub-District is a densely populated area in the Tuban district with high differentiation of economic activities. The large population and heterogeneous community activities on the northern coastal of Palang Sub-District have the potential to become a source of pollution which results in a decrease in seawater quality. The research aim is to analyze seawater quality on the north coast of Palang Sub-District based on seawater quality parameters and the spatial distribution of the pollution index. It is hoped that this research can help local governments to monitor and control water pollution in the area. Sea water sampling was carried out in the dry season for 2 days at high and low tide conditions. This research analyzes the concentration values ​​of BOD, COD, NO3-, TSS, detergent, oil & grease, pH, temperature, and Total coliform compared to seawater quality standards of PP RI No. 22 of 2021 Appendix VIII on Marine Biota. The spatial distribution of the water quality pollution index is the result of interpolation using the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method from the results of measuring test parameters. The Pearson Correlation statistical test was carried out to determine the level of correlation between the parameters selected in determining water quality. The results of the research show a decline in the quality of the northern coastal waters of Palang-Tuban District with several parameter concentration average values ​​exceeding the quality standards, namely pH = 6.9 (QS = 7.0-8.5); TSS = 29.2 ppm (QS= 20 ppm); Nitrate = 0.4 ppm (QS = 0.06 ppm), BOD5 = 54.8 ppm (QS= 20 ppm), COD = 112.5 ppm (QS= 100 ppm). The water quality status shows that the water conditions are moderately polluted (ST1A), lightly polluted (ST1B-ST5B), and good conditions (ST4C & ST5C). Controlling and reducing the pollution load entering coastal waters needs to be carried out to prevent the quality of coastal waters from decreasing further. One of them is by creating wastewater treatment at every fishing port and fish auction.
