Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of tray spacing variations on the performance of tray aerators in reducing iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) concentrations in well water. A quantitative experimental method was used with three tray spacing variations (30 cm, 40 cm and 60 cm) and different tray levels. The results indicate that the tray aerator with 40 cm tray spacing achieved iron removal efficiencies of up to 85.83% and manganese removal efficiencies of up to 35.14%, outperforming other spacing configurations. Tray spacing and aeration time were found to have a significant effect on removal efficiency, with 40 cm spacing providing an optimum balance between turbulence and contact time. In addition, the highest increase in dissolved oxygen (DO) occurred at 30 cm tray spacing. This study concludes that proper tray spacing arrangements can improve the effectiveness of tray aerators in treating well water.

Abstract

Pengomposan adalah proses dekomposisi bahan organic dengan memanfaatkanaktivitas mikroorganisme. Pengomposan ini menggunakan bahan debu sabutkelapa dan kottoran kambing dengan tabahan bioaktivator orgadec. Pupuk kandangyang sudah masuk proses pengomposan kemudian di analisa kadar Nitrogen (N),Karbon (C), pH, suhu, kadar air dan rasio C/N. Hasil analisa kemudian dibandingkan dengan standart baku mutu SNI 19-7030-2004. Analisa pupuk kandangdilakukan pada hari ke 7, 14, 21, 28, dan 35 hari. Hasil analisa pupuk kandangdengan variasi bahan 1:1:1 lebih efektif dan memerlukan waktu pengomposan yangrelative cepat yakni <30 hari, dibandingkan dengan variasi 1:1:0 dan 1:2:1 yangmemerlukan waktu dekomposisi yang realtif lama yakni >35 hari.

Abstract

PMKP Kupang merupakan pabrik pembuatan minyak kayu putih yang telahberoperasi di Kabupaten Mojokerto dan dimiliki oleh Perum Perhutani. Dalammelakukan pekerjaannya pegawai produksi mendapatkan tekanan yang cukup tinggisehingga beban kerja mental pegawai meningkat. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukananalisis reksiko beban kerja mental yang dialami oleh pegawai dan faktor yangmempengaruhinya. Sehingga PMKP Kupang dapat menentukan langkah yang tepatuntuk memperbaiki hal tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalahNASA-TLX yang merupakan metode untuk mengetahui seberapa besar beban kerjamental. Dari hasil perhitungan NASA-TLX didapatkan nilai beban kerja seluruhpegawai sebessar 80,6 (sangat tinggi) dengan indicator beban kerja mental terbesar pada PMKP Kupang adalah faktor Tingkat Usaha (TU) sebesar 270.

Abstract

Jumlah sampah yang dihasilkan masyarakat Surabaya di tahun 2020 mencapai 2.913,18 ton perhari. Dengan laju pertumbuhan penduduk yang semakin meningkat seperti yang terjadi di Kelurahan Wonorejo, Kota Surabaya yang memiliki laju pertumbuhan penduduk tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besaran timbupan sampah pada TPS. Metode yang digunakan untuk pengambilan dan pengukuran sampel adalah SNI 19-3964-1994. Berdasarkan hasil pengambilan sampel,besarnya timbulan sampah di Kelurahan Wonorejo adalah 2,94 m3/orang/hari. Kemudian rata- rata komposisi sampah organik mudah membusuk, sampah organik sukar membusuk, dan sampah anorganik secara berturut- turut adalah 44,3%, 1,3%, dan 54,5%.

Abstract

Peningkatan aktivitas laundry di perkotaan Surabaya menimbulkan peningkatan penggunaan deterjen ,dimana kandungan dalam deterjen memiliki pengaruh buruk terhadap lingkungan .Penelitian ini menggunakan metode adsorpsi dengan karbon aktif komersial aliran upflow dengan Variasi debit 5 ml/menit, 10 ml/menit,dan 15 ml/menit dengan variasi tinggi 10 cm,15 cm, dan 20 cm serta waktu sampling 2 jam,4 jam, 6 jam, 8 jam, 10 jam dan 12 jam . Hasil yang diperoleh efisiensi tertinggi dari penyisihan fosfat sebesar 99,07 % dan surfaktan anionic (detergen) 95,35 %. Debit optimum adalah 5 ml/menit dengan ketinggian 15 cm fosfat dan 20 cm surfaktan anionic (detergen).Model yang sesuai adalah freunlidch, dimana nilai R2 0,9418.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan potensi biofuel mikroalga menggunakan Oxidation Ditch Algae Reactor. Produksi biomassa, klorofil a dan lipid C. vulgaris meningkat seiring waktu, diamati menjadi 2440 mg / L, 3,78 mg / L, dan 16,91% setelah 7 hari, dengan limbah tahu. Produksi biomassa, klorofil a dan lipid adalah 2050 mg / l, 2,4 mg / l, 14,34%, dengan limbah penyamakan kulit. Produksi biomassa, klorofil a dan lipid adalah 2430 mg / l, 3,47 mg / l, 16,79%. Produksi biomassa, klorofil a dan lipid Spirulina Plantesis meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya waktu dan diamati bahwa 3320 mg / L, 4,81 mg / L, dan 23,86% setelah 7 hari, dengan limbah tahu produksi biomassa, klorofil a dan lipid meningkat. bersama waktu. dan mengamati 3210 mg / L, 2,67 mg / L, dan 19,34% setelah 7 hari, dengan limbah dari penyamakan produksi biomassa, klorofil a dan lipid dari S. Abstract

Black soldier fly shell as biocoagulant is considered effective in removing pollutants, making it a potential alternative coagulant in the coagulation-flocculation process. However, studies on the environmental impact of natural coagulant production need to be conducted as an assessment of the sustainability of natural coagulants. This study aims to analyze the environmental impacts caused by the production of black soldier fly shell biocoagulant using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with the ReCiPe 2016 method through Midpoint and Endpoint approaches using the SimaPro 9.6.0.1 software. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was conducted with a gate-to-gate system boundary and a functional unit of 0.1 kg of raw biocoagulant material. Based on the results, the Midpoint approach showed the largest impact category as human carcinogenic toxicity with a total score of 1.07. Additionally, the Endpoint approach identified the largest impact category as human health with a total score of 20.7 Pt. The biggest contributor to the environmental impact in the production of black soldier fly shell biocoagulant is the chitosan dissolution stage, amounting to 5.11 Pt from the total human health impact. This is caused by electricity use, which affects human health.

Abstract

The northern coastal area of ​​Palang Sub-District is a densely populated area in the Tuban district with high differentiation of economic activities. The large population and heterogeneous community activities on the northern coastal of Palang Sub-District have the potential to become a source of pollution which results in a decrease in seawater quality. The research aim is to analyze seawater quality on the north coast of Palang Sub-District based on seawater quality parameters and the spatial distribution of the pollution index. It is hoped that this research can help local governments to monitor and control water pollution in the area. Sea water sampling was carried out in the dry season for 2 days at high and low tide conditions. This research analyzes the concentration values ​​of BOD, COD, NO3-, TSS, detergent, oil & grease, pH, temperature, and Total coliform compared to seawater quality standards of PP RI No. 22 of 2021 Appendix VIII on Marine Biota. The spatial distribution of the water quality pollution index is the result of interpolation using the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method from the results of measuring test parameters. The Pearson Correlation statistical test was carried out to determine the level of correlation between the parameters selected in determining water quality. The results of the research show a decline in the quality of the northern coastal waters of Palang-Tuban District with several parameter concentration average values ​​exceeding the quality standards, namely pH = 6.9 (QS = 7.0-8.5); TSS = 29.2 ppm (QS= 20 ppm); Nitrate = 0.4 ppm (QS = 0.06 ppm), BOD5 = 54.8 ppm (QS= 20 ppm), COD = 112.5 ppm (QS= 100 ppm). The water quality status shows that the water conditions are moderately polluted (ST1A), lightly polluted (ST1B-ST5B), and good conditions (ST4C & ST5C). Controlling and reducing the pollution load entering coastal waters needs to be carried out to prevent the quality of coastal waters from decreasing further. One of them is by creating wastewater treatment at every fishing port and fish auction.

Abstract

This community engagement aims to improve skills in batik design through digital applications. Islamic boarding school or also known as pesantren is Indonesia’s oldest religious educational institution. Along with rapid industry advancements, such a school is expected to follow the development by creating innovations with commercial and representative value. Based on this motivation, a training program on design software and blog-based online publishing tools for beginners is given to the students in Babussalam Pesantren, Jombang Regency, Indonesia. The idea of batik is discussed in this article as a part of the entrepreneurial knowledge and skill at the pesantren, preparing the students for future entrepreneurship. This community project consists of two kinds of training—(1) designing batik with an innovative and contemporary pattern using a software application such as CorelDRAW and (2) designing and commercializing the batik product using free publishing online platforms such as Blogger or Blogspot, as the widely known domain. The participants are 28 high school students aged 16–18 years old, including 14 male and 14 female students. To observe the process of learning, pre- and post-questionnaires were conducted. The results show that 84% and 89% of students have not used CorelDRAW and blog-based media before, respectively. However, after the training, the students show enthusiasm, with 73% expressing interest and 63% wanting to deepen their knowledge of CorelDRAW design. Furthermore, 27% of students show interest in blog design and 37% want to learn further. Hopefully, with this entrepreneurship training, pesantren students are ready and confidently enter the business community.

Abstract

Clean water treatment is always a challenge with the increasing pollution of water resources. This study focuses on an economic engineering approach in clean water treatment using various types of coagulants, namely using natural-based coagulants (moringa seed coagulant and maggot shell coagulant) and metal-based coagulants (alum coagulant). The main objective of this study is to analyze the comparison of technical aspects and cost aspects in the process of making coagulants and clean water treatment processes. This research method, in the technical aspect involves the coagulation-flocculation process in the removal of pH, turbidity, TSS, and color parameters, and in the cost aspect involves laboratory and industrial simulation methods to measure cost efficiency in coagulant production and clean water treatment by analyzing capital costs and operational costs. These results indicate that the use of natural-based coagulants, especially moringa seed coagulants, is more efficient overall than maggot shell coagulants and alum. Moringa seed coagulant can be 10-25% more cost-effective than maggot shell coagulant and alum, while maggot shell coagulant only provides a 15% cost savings in TSS processing compared to alum. Moringa seed coagulant is significantly more cost-effective because it has a low optimum dosage for processing pH, turbidity, TSS, and color, and is more environmentally friendly because it does not contain high levels of contaminants like metal-based coagulants.
