<![CDATA[Keterampilan berbicara merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang harus selalu dilatih agar mereka dapat berkomunikasi dengan baik.Di samping itu, karakter juga merupakan salah satu hal yang sangat penting karena orang yang sukses bukan hanya karena hard skill tetapi juga soft skill.Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa semester tiga Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris yaitu keterampilan berbicara dan karakter.Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam beberapa siklus penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran kolaborasi think-pair-share dengan konsep tri kaya parisudha. Setelah beberapa siklus, hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan dari pra siklus sampai siklus IV.Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran yang diterapkan telah berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dan mengembangkan karakter disiplin, jujur, kooperatif, kreatif dan saling menghormati.]]>

<![CDATA[In Bali, there are many schools that combine national and international curriculum, English is used as a medium of instruction. Moreover, English as a foreign language (EFL) is considered an important subject. Thus, these schools try to design the teaching-learning process that emphasizes language and its culture. After doing the library research by reviewing some related textbooks and research articles, this conceptual article figured out that the ideas of involving a native speaker and cultural authenticity in teaching EFL classes should be based on the learning objective. Both are important if the focus of the EFL class is put toward giving students a contextual experience of EFL use. However, if it is primarily intended to make the students experience the real cultural contexts of English, the ideas of involving the native speaker and cultural authenticity might be irrelevant. This might happen because teaching nowadays is intended to provide students to deal with the 21st century so that they should experience different cultural contexts that enable them to collaboratively work. To summarize, a native speaker and cultural authenticity are important in EFL class; however, they should not be used as a basic assumption of the success and failure of EFL class.]]>

<![CDATA[Writing is one of language skills that is the most difficult skill to be mastered. This skill should be taken into account in teaching learning process. The English teachers at high schools in Badung, Gianyar and Denpasar gave writing test to their students by using a test that provided some topics which made the students difficult to imagine, develop their ideas and sometimes the test was not appropriate for their students’ writing level. The present research was intended to figure out the achievement and the quality of the genre paragraph which was assessed by administering intensive and responsive writing assessment. The present research used an ex-post facto research design. The samples of the present study were taken from 16 schools in the aforementioned three regencies. The obtained data were then analyzed by means of norm-reference measure of five standard values. The result showed that 71% of the samples were successful; meanwhile, 29% of the samples were unsuccessful in writing genre paragraph which was assessed by administering intensive and responsive writing assessment. In addition, the quality of their genre paragraphs was mainly good, but the needed extra effort on narrative.]]>

<![CDATA[Amongst four English skills, writing becomes pivotal, and students must be capable in thisskill. Writing is a communication form where the writer delivers and arrange ideas into areadable form for a specific purpose. The present research was mainly based on thepreliminary observation towards 32 subjects in the X BDPM 1 class at SMKN 2 Denpasar inacademic year 2020/2021. The results showed that most of the subjects’ writing skill was stilllow. Besides, the present research was aimed at investigating whether or not the writing skillof the tenth-grade students of SMKN 2 Denpasar can be improved through ESA combined withpicture. To achieve the objective, the researcher conducted classroom action research whichwas done in two cycles. Furthermore, the required data were obtained by administering theresearch instruments: tests and a questionnaire. The collected data were then analyzed bycomparing the pre-test and post-tests, which showed significant improvements in the subjects’mean scores from the pre-test to post-tests. Furthermore, the questionnaire results showed thatthe subjects’ positive responses toward the implementation of ESA combined with picture. Itcould be concluded that writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMKN 2 Denpasar inacademic year 2020/2021 can be improved through ESA combined with picture.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was intended to know if there was any positive corralation between themastery of past tense and the ability of writing recount text of the twelfth grade students ofSMAN 1 Gianyar in academic year 2020-2021. There were in all 75 students taken as thesamples of the research using random sampling with lotery system. In the researchinstruments the samples were asked to write sentences in recount text and textconstruction test. The data obtained were statistically analysed using presequisit analysis(normality and homogeneity test) and Person Product moment correlational and t-test. It isrevealed that the alternative hypothesis is vividly accepted. It means that there wassignificant correlation between the mastery of past tense and the ability of writing recounttext of the twelfth grade students of SMAN 1 Ganyar in 2020-2021 academic year.]]>

<![CDATA[The present study aimed at figuring out whether writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMKN 1 Susut can be improved through the implementation of tell-show combined with picture. Tell-show was a teaching technique of writing in this study in which the subjects used writing columns during the online learning. The research was primarily based on the preliminary study of 26 tenth-grade students of SMKN 1 Susut in academic year 2020/2021. The research design was classroom action research, and the research was carried out through applying tell-show combined with picture within two cycles. Furthermore, the obtained data were collected by administering tests (pre-test and post-tests) and a questionnaire. The results showed that there was a significant improvement of the subjects’ descriptive text writing ability. The questionnaire also proved that the subjects’ responses toward the implementation of tell-show combined with picture were positive during the online class. In short, the present study clearly showed that writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMKN 1 Susut in academic year 2020/2021 can be improved through tell-show combined with picture.]]>

<![CDATA[The present study is an ex-post facto research with correlation design was intended to figure out the significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Blahbatuh in academic year 2021/2022. The samples of the research consisted of 60 students which were chosen by means of random sampling method with lottery system. The data were collected through administering the research instruments which were in the form of structured matching cloze procedure test and short answer test. The obtained data were statistically analyzed by using Pearson product moment correlation and t-test. The results of the data analysis clearly revealed the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In other words, the research findings confirmed that there is significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Blahbatuh in academic year 2021/2022.]]>

<![CDATA[School Literacy Movement (SLM) has now become a national movement that is mainly intended to enrich and develop students’ literacy skills. Every school is obligated to carry out this program; moreover, SLM program was initially applied in three public schools in Lembongan village precisely in the academic year 2016/2017. The present qualitative research with a case study design was mainly focused to fathom out the stage and the teachers’ perceptions of the implementation of the program. After administering the research instrument, observation, structured questionnaire, and semi-structured interview, the collected data were analytically triangulated. Finally, the present case study figured out that the implementation of SLM in three public elementary schools at Lembongan village was in the development stage. In addition, teachers considered that teachers’ roles, literacy practices, students’ characters, and literacy rewards were important in the implementation of the SLM program to achieve successful results.]]>

<![CDATA[The study aims at figuring out whether or not there is a significant correlation between reading habit and narrative text writing ability of the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Kediri in academic year 2021/2022. The samples, 60 students total, were selected using the cluster random sampling approach. The researcher employed a questionnaire to determine reading habits and a text construction test to determine the writer's aptitude for narrative texts. Using the SPSS 26.0 application, the researcher examined the data that had been gathered. The data were distributed normally and homogeneous, according to the results of the normality and homogeneity test. Additionally, the rcounted was greater than the rtable at 0.859. This indicates that the two variables had a correlation. The t-test also revealed that the tcounted was higher than the ttable, which was 60.161 > 1.672. Furthermore, based on the data analysis, the researcher concluded that there was a significant correlation between reading habit and narrative text writing ability of the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Kediri in academic year 2021/2022.]]>
