Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi khususnya kecerdasan buatan atau Artificial Intelligence (AI) akhir-akhir ini berkembang sangat pesat. Dalam konteks pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, terdapat berbagai jenis AI yang dapat digunakan untuk menguatkan proses pembelajaran. Namun masih banyak guru Bahasa Inggris pada jenjang pendidikan SD, SMP, dan SMA/SMK di lingkungan Yayasan Perguruan Rakyat Saraswati Pusat Denpasar yang memerlukan penyegaran pemahaman dan peningkatan keterampilan dalam mengintegrasikan AI ke dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, para guru memerlukan pelatihan tentang integrasi AI dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Hal inilah yang mendorong Prodi Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar untuk melaksanakan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat. Kegiatan pelatihan yang dilaksanakan secara hybrid dengan menghadirkan narasumber luar negeri, Gleann R. Corpuz, Ph.D. Beliau adalah Assistant Professor di Cagayan State University – Sanchez Mira Campus, Filipina. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru-guru Bahasa Inggris dalam mengintegrasikan AI. Peningkatan ini dapat dilihat dari hasil pre-test dan post-test serta kuesioner yang diberikan. Para guru juga sangat antusias dan aktif selama kegiatan. Mereka mengikuti seluruh kegiatan dengan rajin dan semangat.

Abstract

In today's global world, reading and speaking English well is a key skill for helping students do well in class. Learning methods can affect how well students learn in places where English is a foreign language (EFL). This study aims to determine how EFL students feel about and deal with the difficulties of combining two popular language teaching methods, Reciprocal Teaching (RT) and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), in higher education institutions. A mixed-methods approach was used to gather data from English Language Education Study Program students. This included observations, questionnaires, and interviews. The results show that most students think combining RT and CLT is a good way to help them understand what they read, speak fluently, and learn with others. RT strategies help make predictions, ask questions, clarify, and summarize texts. CLT, on the other hand, promotes real-life communication activities like group discussions and role-playing. Students also expressed a preference for interactive, contextual, and collaborative learning. But this study also found several challenges, such as insufficient time to learn, anxiety when speaking and a tendency for some students to prefer independent learning. Cultural factors, learning styles, and support affect students' involvement and reactions to both approaches. These findings contribute to developing more effective, student-centred, and relevant English language learning.

Abstract

Gizi pada balita dipengaruhi oleh faktor sosioekonomi dan latar belakang sosial budaya yang berhubungan dengan pola makan dan nutrisi. Nutrisi yang tidak adekuat dalam lima tahun pertama kehidupan berakibat pada gangguan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan fisik, mental dan otak yang bersifat irreversible. Ukuran keberhasilan dalam pemenuhan nutrisi adalah status gizi. Status gizi balita mencerminkan tingkat perkembangan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat dalam suatu negara serta berhubungan dengan status kesehatan anak di masa depan. Pencatatan status gizi pada Banjar Titih telah dilakukan setiap bulan oleh petugas dengan mencatat status gizi secara langsung dengan metode antropometri yakni mencatat berat badan dan umur balita pada KMS (Kartu Menuju Sehat). Selain itu ada faktor lain yang mempengaruhi status gizi balita yaitu konsumsi makanan dari balita serta pengaruh faktor ekologi dari tempat tinggal orang tua yang belum tercatat oleh petugas. Dari beberapa penelitian yang telah dilakukan tersebut maka diusulkan sebuah analisa dalam pengelompokan status gizi yang ada pada Banjar Titih menggunakan metode K-Means. K-Means merupakan salah satu metode clustering/pengelompokan non hirarki. Teknik pengelompokkan datanya sederhana dan cepat. Sehingga dengan menggunakan metode K-Means dapat memberikan informasi kelompok cluster status gizi balita pada Banjar Titih.

Abstract

It is crucial to learn a new language, especially English, an international language. Nowadays, having the ability to speak English is an essential ability for students to have. Good speaking skills will help them communicate with each other, speak their minds, pronounce words correctly, and construct sentences in grammatically correct terms. This research aims to analyze the students' perception and challenges of speaking skills in the 21st -century. Twenty-six students were taken randomly from three classes enrolled in the Speaking for Informal Interaction of the English Language Education Study Program, Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar. The researchers used open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the qualitative research approach. Recordings and documents supplemented the instruments. The collected data were transcribed, classified, interpreted, and concluded as the findings of this study. The finding reveals students' perception of the need for English textbooks to support their communicative competencies and some challenges affecting their ability to master speaking skills. Lacking in terms of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, self-confidence, lack of knowledge, fear of making mistakes, low motivation, fear of criticism, shyness, and nervousness are some challenges the students face. Based on the students' perceptions and challenges, the lecturers are suggested to develop a textbook that can accommodate the student's needs and challenges. Students need a coursebook to build confidence to speak in public.

Abstract

Penerapan Artificial Intelligence (AI) khususnya ChatGPT menjadi tantangan bagi para guru Bahasa Inggris di SMP (SLUB) Saraswati Denpasar. Para guru masih memerlukan pendampingan agar penerapan ChatGPT dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dapat terlaksana secara optimal. Hal inilah yang mendorong Prodi. Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Unmas Denpasar untuk melaksanakan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang berbentuk pendampingan. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara, tim pelaksana dan mitra menyepakati untuk melaksanakan kegiatan pendampingan. Kegiatan pendampingan dilaksanakan dalam empat tahap: penyusunan perangkat pembelajaran, penerapan ChatGPT dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di kelas secara langsung, pemberian kuesioner kepada para siswa, dan evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan pendampingan. Kegiatan pendampingan menunjukkan bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris SMP (SLUB) Saraswati Denpasar mampu menyusun perangkat pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan ChatGPT saat mengajarkan Bahasa Inggris. Di samping itu, guru menunjukkan penguasaan yang sangat baik saat menerapkan ChatGPT dalam pembelajaran teks deskriptif. Para siswa merasakan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman materi pelajaran dan minat belajar, serta mereka juga dapat belajar secara mandiri dengan menggunakan ChatGPT. Integrasi ChatGPT dalam pembelajaran membuat proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris menjadi lebih menarik, interaktif, jelas, dan variatif, serta mampu meningkatkan motivasi siswa selama pembelajaran.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendukung pengembangan UMKM Oim's Kitchen, sebuah usaha mikro di Denpasar yang bergerak di bidang kuliner, khususnya produksi donat dan puding. Fokus utama kegiatan adalah meningkatkan kapasitas produksi dan daya saing melalui: (1)bantuan Alat produksi yang pemberian alat-alat produksi modern untuk meningkatkan efisiensi, konsistensi, dan kualitas produk. Hal ini diharapkan dapat membantu UMKM memenuhi permintaan pelanggan dengan lebih baik sekaligus menurunkan waktu dan biaya produksi. (2) Desain Kemasan Inovatif yang Penyediaan desain kemasan yang menarik, fungsional, dan sesuai standar pasar. Kemasan inovatif tidak hanya meningkatkan daya tarik visual produk tetapi juga memberikan nilai tambah, meningkatkan kepercayaan konsumen, dan memperluas peluang pemasaran. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan kapasitas produksi, penampilan produk yang lebih profesional, dan peningkatan daya saing Oim's Kitchen di pasar lokal. Dengan pendekatan ini, UMKM diharapkan dapat berkembang lebih mandiri, berdaya saing tinggi, serta berkontribusi pada pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal.

Abstract

Penggunaan teknologi dalam pengajaran merupakan suatu hal yang tidak dapat dipisahkan. Kemampuan guru dalam menggunakan media variative dalam mengajar menjadi kunci penentu jalannya proses pembelajaran. Selain membantu proses belajar, teknologi juga berperan dalam proses penilaian. Dalam pengabdian Masyarakat ini, guru diberikan pengetahuan dan pelatihan dalam membuat dan menggunakan penilaian berbasis daring. Penerapan penilaian berbasis daring ini diharapkan mampu memberikan alternatif pilihan bagi guru terutama dalam memberikan penilaian. Adapun manfaat dari pelatihan penilaian berbasis daring ini adalah: (1) meningkatkan pertisipasi siswa, (2), memudahkan guru dalam memberikan koreksi dan penilaian, serta (3) Meningkatkan pemahaman dan retensi siswa.

Abstract

Online learning has significantly transformed lecturers' methodologies and students' learning experiences in English Language Teaching (ELT). This qualitative case study explores the perceptions and challenges of online ELT in the post-pandemic context, aiming to inform the design of effective future online learning environments. Data were gathered through document analysis, unstructured questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews with six lecturers and ninety students from the English Language Education Study Program at Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar. Findings indicate that online ELT has enhanced flexibility and accessibility, boosting learners' self-confidence and fostering self-directed and reflective learning through structured educational presentations. However, challenges persist, including the need for lecturers to maintain student engagement and provide effective feedback online, ensuring that even disengaged students participate actively. Additionally, the objectivity of online assessments and the technological divide are critical concerns. The study underscores the necessity of meticulously addressing these challenges and perceptions to cultivate more dynamic and inclusive online ELT classrooms in the future.

Abstract

Innovative teaching model in the 21st century is of necessity because in this digital transformation era, lecturers deal with tech-savvy students. These students should be taught differently; it can be done by integrating teaching technique with newly-updated and technological-based media or platform. In English Education Study Program, the lecturer still made use of conventional technique and it was monotonous and uninteresting. The present qualitative research with case study design was mainly intended to fathom out the students’ perceptions and the benefits of implementing TPS-Flipgrid in EFL speaking class. The implementation of TPS-Flipgrid in the present qualitative research with case study design for the sake innovating EFL speaking class has brought the language learning into certain level. The research clearly figured out that the perception of the third semester students was positive. They thought that TPS-Flipgrid was an innovative and flexible teaching model; besides, this model could invite active involvement and equalize classroom and online face-to-face interaction. The teaching model has successfully improved the students’ speaking performances and their 21st century life skills such as collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking. Considering the significant results of applying TPS-Flipgrid, the implementation of this teaching model should be continuously carried out and improved

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the influence of occupational health and safety on employee performance at PT PLN (Persero) Sulutenggo Regional Main Unit (UIW) UP3 Gorontalo, ULP Telaga; (2) determine the influence of the work environment on employee performance; and (3) determine the influence of workload on employee performance. The study sample consisted of 112 respondents, and the analytical tool used was multiple linear regression. Furthermore, the study employed a descriptive quantitative method, collecting data both online through Google Forms and offline via questionnaires. The findings indicate that (1) partially, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program significantly influences employee performance, with a significance value of 0,000 < 0,05 and T count value > T table (5,011 > 0,676); (2) partially, work environment has a significant influence on employee performance, with a significance value of 0,000 < 0,05 and T count value > T table (3,615 > 0,676); (3) partially, workload has a significant influence on employee performance, with a significance value of 0,000 < 0,05 and T count value > T table (5,297 > 0,676); and (4) simultaneously, occupational health and safety, work environment, and workload have a positive and significant influence on employee performance, with a significance value of 0,000 < 0,05 and F count value > F table (16,536 > 2,69). The determination coefficient (R) is 0,661, indicating a moderate correlation, whereas the R-square value is 0,437, which indicates that 43,7% of employee performance is influenced by occupational health and safety programs, work environment, and workload, whereas the remaining 57,3% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study, such as compensation, motivation, leadership, training, and other factors that can be explored in future research.
