Abstract

Water pollution caused by heavy metal mercury is a serious problem today. This study aims to utilise jackfruit wood waste as a natural adsorbent in overcoming the problem of water pollution due to heavy metal mercury. The methods in this research include jackfruit wood preparation, hydrochar synthesis through pyrolysis, hydrochar activation, wastewater preparation, batch adsorbent optimum conditions, and dynamic adsorption process (Fixed-Bed Column). The results showed that the optimum adsorption condition was reached at 0.4 M HCl concentration, pH 3 and 80minutes contact time. The study also showed that the adsorption kinetics followed a second-order pseudo model with a rate constant of 1.712 x 10-2 g/mg.min. The research data also showed conformity with the Langmuir isotherm model, with an adsorption capacity of 63.036 mg/g. The results of this study prove that jackfruit wood waste is effectively used as raw material for making activated carbon for wastewater treatment applications in removing heavy metal mercury.

Abstract

Peatlands in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, are ecologically significant due to their acidic, organic-rich conditions, yet their microbial communities remain underexplored, particularly regarding their enzymatic potential. This study aimed to isolate and characterize amylolytic bacteria from peat soil collected at a depth of 143–150 cm in the LAHG CIMTROP area of Central Kalimantan. A total of 44 bacterial isolates were obtained using serial dilution and the gridding method. Screening for amylase activity identified isolate ENS31 as having the highest activity, shown by a clear halo on starch agar. ENS31 was further subjected to biochemical characterization and enzyme activity assays. The amylase enzyme exhibited optimal activity at pH 7 and 50°C, with a specific activity of 3.5 U/mg, and retained activity up to pH 12 (2 U/mg). These results indicate that ENS31 produces an enzyme stable in alkaline conditions despite originating from an acidic environment, demonstrating potential for industrial applications requiring pH and temperature-tolerant biocatalysts. This study contributes to understanding the functional diversity of peatland microbes and highlights tropical peat ecosystems as promising sources of novel enzymes.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pelatihan pembuatan lilin aromaterapi memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan keterampilan praktis dan kreativitas siswa. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan hardskill siswa dalam pembuatan lilin aromaterapi, sehingga mereka memiliki bekal keterampilan yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari maupun sebagai peluang wirausaha. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan meliputi pemberian materi secara ceramah dan praktik langsung pembuatan lilin aromaterapi. Peserta kegiatan ini adalah 80 siswa/i dari SMAN 1 Kasongan. Diakhir kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan evaluasi dengan pengisian angket oleh peserta untuk menilai pemahaman dan keterampilan yang diperoleh selama pelatihan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa 81,25% peserta memahami metode pembuatan lilin aromaterapi, sedangkan 90% peserta mampu membuat lilin aromaterapi secara mandiri. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan praktis dan kreativitas siswa.Abstract: The aromatherapy candle-making training plays an important role in enhancing students' practical skills and creativity. This activity aims to enhance students' hard skills in making aromatherapy candles, so they have a set of skills that can be applied in daily life as well as entrepreneurial opportunities. The training methods used include lectures and hands-on practice in making aromatherapy candles. The participants of this activity are 80 students from SMAN 1 Kasongan. At the end of the training activities, an evaluation was conducted with participants filling out a questionnaire to assess the understanding and skills acquired during the training. The evaluation results show that 81.25% of the participants understand the method of making aromatherapy candles, while 90% of the participants are able to make aromatherapy candles independently. Thus, this training has proven effective in enhancing students' practical skills and creativity.

Abstract

A community service activity entitled "Socialization and Education on the Dangers of Drugs for Students of SMPN 4 Tewah, Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province" was conducted as an early prevention effort against drug abuse among students. This outreach program aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the negative impacts of drugs from a health, social, educational, and legal perspective. The method used was interactive delivery of material through presentations, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions, enabling students to participate more actively and relate the knowledge gained to their daily lives. The results of the program demonstrated that it was well-run and effective. This was evidenced by a significant increase in student understanding based on pre- and post-test evaluations, with an understanding score of 94.8%. These findings demonstrate that the outreach and education on the dangers of drugs can positively contribute to raising student awareness of the importance of staying away from drugs. Thus, this activity serves not only as a learning tool but also as a strategic step in developing a healthy, productive, and integrated young generation.

Abstract

An analysis of the silica nanosol-hexadecyltrimethoxysilane hybrid has been carried out through optimizing the concentration of silica nanosol and determining the type of fabric regarding hydrophobicity. This research began with the synthesis of silica nanosol via the sol-gel method, where TEOS as a precursor was dissolved in a mixture of ethanol-distilled water with a base catalyst with a contact time of 2 hours. The concentration of silica nanosol was varied by 0.025, 0.05, and 0.075 mol. The dip-coating method was used to coat the fabric with nanosol, with a tensile rate of 3 cm per second. Then the fabric was re-coated with silica nanosol in HDTMS solution (4% wt/wt ethanol) and dried in a 120°C oven for 10 minutes. This research tested calico, cotton and mori fabrics. A Canon DSLR camera with a Thamron 100mm lens was used to measure the contact angle of the fabric surface. ImageJ software processes images to obtain contact angle values on the fabric surface. The fabric was then characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and the silica nanosol was characterized using a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The optimum concentration of silica-hdtms nanosol was obtained at a concentration of 0.075 mol with surface contact angles of cotton, mori and calico fabrics of 134, 132 and 135°. The flow speed of water with a slope of 100 on cotton, mori, and calico fabric produces flow speeds of 3.3, 6, and 5 m/s.

Abstract

Wadi merupakan produk fermentasi ikan tradisional khas Kalimantan Tengah yang memiliki cita rasa asam dan asin khas hasil fermentasi spontan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi garam, samu (beras sangrai), dan lama fermentasi terhadap karakteristik organoleptik wadi ikan patin (Pangasius sp.) serta menentukan perlakuan terbaik. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah faktorial, dengan empat perlakuan konsentrasi garam (6,25%, 12,25%, 25%, dan 50%), empat kadar samu (5%, 10%, 20%, dan 40%), serta empat waktu fermentasi (3, 4, 6 dan 8 hari) yang dilakukan secara anaerob pada suhu ruang. Uji organoleptik dilakukan oleh 25 panelis terhadap parameter warna, aroma, rasa, dan tekstur dengan memilik variasi paling disukai. Dari berbagai kombinasi perlakuan yang diuji, formulasi wadi dengan 50% garam, 10%  samu (beras sangrai) dan fermentasi selama 8 hari menunjukkan hasil terbaik, dengan skor kesukaan tertinggi untuk rasa (8,1), aroma (7,9), warna (7,8), dan tekstur (8,0). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa keseimbangan antara kadar garam, sumber karbohidrat (beras), dan waktu fermentasi sangat berperan dalam pembentukan cita rasa khas wadi. Kombinasi tersebut dapat direkomendasikan sebagai formulasi optimal dalam proses pembuatan wadi ikan patin khas Kalimantan Tengah yang berpotensi dikembangkan menjadi produk pangan fermentasi unggulan lokal dengan nilai ekonomi dan daya saing yang lebih tinggi.

Abstract

Clean water quality is a crucial factor in people's lives, especially for residents of Casadova Housing, Menteng, Palangka Raya, who rely on shallow wells as their main source of water. The results of the study showed that well water in this area still contains an unpleasant odor and has a low pH level (4.5), which does not meet the standards of the Minister of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017. Therefore, this community service activity aims to socialize clean water quality standards and provide solutions for handling acidic water for local residents. The implementation method includes counseling, demonstration of simple filtration technology, and technical assistance in improving water quality. The results of the activity showed an increase in residents' understanding of clean water standards and the application of simple technologies, such as the use of lime and aeration, to reduce the acidity level of water. It is hoped that this activity can improve the quality of life of residents with access to healthier and more consumable water.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan permasalahan kesehatan akibat terjadinya gizi buruk yang menyebabkan pertumbuhan pada anak menjadi terhambat. Prevalensi stunting Provinsi Kalimantan Tengah (Kalteng) pada Tahun 2022 masih tercatat 26,9%, menurun 0,5% dari tahun 2021 sebesar 27,4%. Angka tersebut masih belum memenuhi target pemerintah yaitu angka stunting menurun hingga dibawah 14%. Kelurahan Habaring Hurung, yang terletak di Palangka Raya, memiliki tingkat stunting yang masih cukup tinggi, terutama di kalangan anak-anak Meskipun upaya pencegahan dan penanganan stunting telah dilakukan melalui Posyandu di wilayah tersebut, namun peningkatan pengetahuan ibu terkait gizi dan kesehatan anak masih sering ditemui. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu terkait stunting melalui kegiatan yang bersifat edukatif dan partisipatif di Posyandu Kelurahan Habaring Hurung. Metode yang dilakukan terdiri atas persiapan beruapa survey lokasi, pelaksanaan berupa penyuluhan, dan evaluasi berupa pemberian pre-test dan post-test. Berdasarkan hasil pre-test dan post-test dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi peningkatakan pengetahuan terkait stunting sebelum penyuluhan dan sesudah penyuluhan. Hal tersebut dilihat dari adanya peningkatan kategori pengetahuan baik dari 22% menjadi 70%.

Abstract

Breast cancer can be initiated, one way or another, by overexpression of the HER-2 protein which can induce dimerization, resulting in metastasis in breast cancer cells. Pertuzumab is one of the methods used to treat metastatic breast cancer that is breast cancer cells that the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. Hydrazine is something hydro nitrogen compounds that has the formula N2H4 molecule. The hydrazine compound has chemical characteristics as a strong reducing agent because hydrazine plays a role as donor group hydrogen can reduce double bonds into single bonds through reaction hydrogenation. Research purposes This is o see the bond between Hydrazine as a linker with pertuzumab as an antibody for development of Antibody Drug Conjugate in silico with molecular docking. The docking method is used to know the conformation and free energy ties involved in the interaction between molecule (pertuzumab) and its ligand (hydrazine). In silico molecular docking was carried out with a number of stages such as ligand preparation, preparation of macromolecules, validation molecular docking method, docking hydrazine with pertuzumab protein and intermediate data analysis optimized hydrazine compound with which pertuzumab protein the lower mark energy bond so the stronger and stable the bond that occurs between hydrazine compound and pertuzumab protein . Obtained the result of docking is in the form of binding affinity from the results of addition of pertuzumab protein with the hydrazine ligand which is -6.8 which shows conformation formed stable or does not require great energy To do binding. Visualization results from complex molecule hydrazine compound against pertuzumab protein own identical confirmation on the part side active binding from pertuzumab protein macromolecules . The hydrazine compound can be bonded with pertuzumab and has potential as a new drug development in the targeting antibody drug conjugate breast cancer.
