Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an acute infectious disease that remains a public health problem in Indonesia, particularly in tropical areas with high population density. Community-based prevention efforts through health education are essential to reduce the incidence of DHF. This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge, awareness, and preventive behaviors regarding DHF through health education for residents of Kenjoro Hamlet, Pesanggrahan Village, Mojokerto Regency. The target participants were mothers or parents of children aged 0–5 years and the elderly, who are vulnerable groups to DHF infection and complications. The method used was participatory health education employing booklet media, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The material covered the definition, risk factors, transmission, signs and symptoms, management, and prevention of DHF through the Mosquito Breeding Site Eradication Program (PSN) 3M Plus. The activity was conducted on February 13, 2026, with 26 participants. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in knowledge, indicated by the proportion of correct answers rising from 50% in the pre-test to 95% in the post-test. In addition, several environmental risk factors were identified, such as stagnant water, uncovered water storage containers, and discarded items that could serve as mosquito breeding sites. In conclusion, health education effectively improved community knowledge and awareness regarding DHF prevention and encouraged the adoption of clean and healthy living behaviors through the 3M Plus program. Similar activities need to be conducted continuously with support from community health centers, village authorities, and active community participation to reduce the risk of DHF transmission.

Abstract

Nutritional issues in toddlers remain a public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly related to stunting, malnutrition, and feeding patterns that do not comply with the principles of balanced nutrition. The lack of knowledge of mothers as primary caregivers is one factor contributing to inappropriate child feeding practices. This activity aims to improve the knowledge of mothers of toddlers regarding balanced nutrition through health education at the Pagerejo Village Integrated Health Post (Posyandu). The method used is a participatory educational approach through interactive counseling, discussion, and evaluation using a pre-test and post-test design. The activity was carried out on February 18, 2026, at the Pagerejo Village Health Post (Ponkesdes), involving 30 mothers with toddlers aged 0–5 years. The material provided included the concept of balanced nutrition, the "Isi Piringku" principle, toddler nutritional needs, the importance of animal protein, and stunting prevention. The evaluation results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 58.6 in the pre-test to 79 in the post-test, with a percentage increase of 34,8%. Abstract

Hypertension is a crucial global health challenge often referred to as the silent killer due to the absence of obvious early clinical symptoms and the low level of patient awareness regarding their condition. This condition necessitates strong preventive measures at the grassroots level through massive and continuous health education. This community service activity aims to improve public health status through in-depth education on the dangers of hypertension and to build a commitment to lifestyle changes through the CERDIK behavior guidelines. The activity was conducted in the polyclinic waiting room of the Gedeg Community Health Center (Puskesmas Gedeg) from February 20 to 21, 2026, involving a target audience of 40 adult and elderly patients. The implementation approach focused on health promotion and prevention through interactive two-way lectures, which were reinforced by visual stimuli using leaflets. The program's achievement and success levels were evaluated using pre-test and post-test questionnaire instruments. The results showed a predominance of female participants (60%), with a diverse age range between 20 and 82 years. There was a significant increase in the participants' average score, rising from 70.25 before the intervention to 91.75 after the health education. Evaluation calculations indicated a 30.6% increase in knowledge and material absorption. In the post-test results, all participants (100%) successfully reached the "Good" knowledge category, shifting drastically from the pre-test results where the majority were still in the "Sufficient" category (45%). In conclusion, this educational activity effectively and tangibly improved participants understanding of the definition of hypertension, its risk factors, complication prevention, and the application of the CERDIK lifestyle.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) is often refractory to oral analgesics. It is a complication of diabetes mellitus that causes sensory disturbances. Oral pharmacological therapies, including antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and opioids, often have limited efficacy and may cause systemic adverse effects. Objective: This prospective observational cohort study evaluated whether anatomical pain location and lidocaine dose predict the short-term analgesic response to targeted intramuscular lidocaine injection at the patient’s site of maximal pain in patients with diabetic neuropathic pain. Methods: Thirty-one adults with DNP treated at Bhayangkara Hospital were enrolled. They received 1% plain lidocaine at doses of 3, 4, or 5 mg/kg, administered intramuscularly at the site of maximal pain. Pain intensity was assessed at baseline and at 30 minutes, 1, 2, 4, and 6 hours after injection using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the Neuropathic Pain Symptom Inventory (NPSI). Result: The results showed a dose-dependent decrease in mean VAS scores, and this dose-response trend was statistically significant (ANOVA, p = 0.018). The composite NPSI score decreased by an average of 34.2%. Furthermore, patients with dorsal foot pain and those experiencing electric shock/paresthesia sensory phenotypes showed the greatest reductions in pain scores. Conclusion: These findings indicate that targeted IM lidocaine produced rapid short-term analgesia within 30 minutes, lasting approximately 4 to 6 hours. Anatomical targeting and dose selection may influence analgesic outcomes and may support individualized, symptom-directed strategies for managing diabetic neuropathic pain.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension increasingly appears among young adults, with lifestyle factors often shaping variations in blood pressure. Specific background: Medical students frequently experience academic demands, irregular routines, and stress, making them a relevant group for examining dietary patterns and psychological conditions connected to blood pressure. Knowledge gap: Limited studies have assessed diet and stress simultaneously in a homogeneous young adult cohort with similar academic pressures. Aims: This study explored diet and stress patterns linked to blood pressure categories in medical students. Results: Among 81 respondents, most reported good dietary habits and normal blood pressure, while stress ranged from normal to very severe. Statistical analysis showed no measurable connection between diet patterns and blood pressure, whereas stress levels corresponded to differences across blood pressure categories. Novelty: The study focuses on a single academic cohort with shared workloads, offering a clearer understanding of how stress aligns with blood pressure variations. Implications: These findings highlight the need for structured stress-management strategies in academic environments to support cardiovascular health among young adult students. Highlights Diet patterns show no observable link to blood pressure among young adult students. Stress levels correspond to variations in blood pressure categories within the cohort. Academic environments may require targeted stress-management initiatives to support student well-being. Keywords Diet Pattern, Stress Level, Blood Pressure, Young Adult Students, Medical Education
