Abstract

Permasalahan di desa Tegallega – Kabupaten Karawang, salah satunya adalah pengairan lahan persawahan melalui pemanfaatan air hujan semata dan mengakibatkan rendahnya kuantitas pemanenan padi. Nilai ekonomi dari bidang usaha ini terbilang rendah terutama dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan sehari-hari bagi warga desa tersebut. Permasalahan ini menuntut adanya kegiatan ekonomi lain dengan memanfaatkan persoalan yang lebih dahulu ada di lokasi masyarakat. Hasil rembuk bersama antara pemangku desa, dan mitra pelaksana terhadap kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) mahasiswa Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (UNSIKA) menyepakati kegiatan pemanfaatan penumpukan sampah organik di desa Tegallega yang selama ini juga merupakan permasalahan sebagai bahan makanan dalam membudidayakan maggot BSF. Peluang ekonomi mandiri adalah produk jual kering ketika maggot telah mencapai fase dewasa. Kegiatan pelaksanaan menggunakan metode pendekatan yang bersifat   persuasif edukatif berupa ceramah, diskusi, dan praktek. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat melalui program KKN menunjukkan bahwa mitra Gapoktan desa Tegallega bersikap antuasias tinggi selama pemberian teori dasar pembudidayaan maggot BSF. Komunikasi dua arah juga terjadi sebagai bentuk indikator adanya pemahaman dan penyerapan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, informasi dan budaya bagi masyarakat Tegallega yang disampaikan oleh pakar pembudidaya maggot. Proses terapan juga berlangsung sebagai parameter pemahaman teori dengan menunjukkan lokasi penyediaan budidaya dari awalan tetasan telur menuju maggot BSF (larva dewasa). Produk jual dari maggot tersebut mengalami proses pengeringan dan menghasilkan produk larva – pelet kering. Lanjutan pemantauan menjadi evaluasi dan tolak ukur nilai ekonomi dengan memberikan tahapan pengemasan, label, dan izin edar produk baik pertokoan maupun ­e-commerce sebagai bentuk perluasan nilai ekonomi atas penjualan produk.

Abstract

PKS Kertajaya is a subsidiary of PTPN VIII, which focuses on the palm oil industry. a number of main processing and supporting equipment for this factory. One of the key aspects of the production process is the use of the boiler. This equipment produces steam, which is needed by various palm oil production processes and even factory utility areas. Therefore, the research study focused on the quantity of fuel used in producing the steam. The palm oil industry utilizes the solid waste from fresh fruit bunches, namely fibers and shells. The variable variation is in the percentage of the two fuels. From the estimation results using the direct method, it was found that the feeding conditions of 50:50, 60:40, and 70:30% were able to provide an increase in boiler efficiency values along with decreasing operational fuel costs. However, if you compare it with the quantity of fuel that has been applied by the industry, the percentage of 50:50% is the optimum condition, both in terms of boiler efficiency and economic value, which is one level higher than the current condition. This consideration is viewed from the estimation side as well as the amount of carbon content owned. Apart from that, the palm oil industry continues to maintain performance during routine maintenance of boiler equipment. Ingredients other than carbon are able to make short- to long-term contributions to producing steam. PKS Kertajaya merupakan anak perusahaan PTPN VIII yang berfokus di bidang industri kelapa sawit.  Dari sejumlah peralatan utama proses maupun pendukung pabrik ini. Ssalah satu aspek kunci proses produksinya berada pada penggunaan boiler. Peralatan ini menghasilkan uap air yang dibutuhkan ragam proses produksi minyak kelapa sawit bahkan area utilitas pabrik. Oleh karena itu, kajian penelitian difokuskan ke kuantitas bahan bakar yang digunakan dalam memproduksi steam tersebut. Pihak industri kelapa sawit memanfaatkan peran limbah padat dari tandan buah segar, yaitu serabut dan cangkang. Variasi variabel berada pada persentase kedua bahan bakar tersebut. Dari hasil estimasi melalui penggunaan metode langsung didapatkan bahwa kondisi pengumpanan 50:50, 60:40, dan 70:30% mampu memberikan peningkatan nilai efisiensi boiler dengan seiring menurunnya biaya operasional bahan bakar. Akan tetapi, jika membandingkan dengan kuantitas bahan bakar yang telah diterapkan pihak industri maka persentase 50:50% adalah kondisi optimum baik sisi efisiensi boiler dan nilai ekonomi yang lebih tinggi satu tingkat dari kondisi saat ini. Pertimbangan ini ditinjau dari sisi estimasi dan juga jumlah kandungan karbon yang dimiliki. Selain itu, pihak industri kelapa sawit tetap menjaga performa selama terutama pelaksanaan perawatan rutin peralatan boiler. Kandungan selain karbon mampu memberikan kontribusi baik jangka pendek hingga panjang dalam memproduksi uap air.

Abstract

Saat ini kebutuhan bahan bakar minyak terus menjadi besar bersamaan dengan meningkatnya populasi dan berkembangnya Teknologi. Namun cadangan sumber energi minyak bumi yang berasal dari fosil terus menjadi menipis karena sifatnya yang tidak dapat diperbaharui. oleh karena itu, perjuangan buat mencari asal tenaga alternatif yang dapat diperbaharui (renewable) butuh ditingkatkan. Salah satu sumber tenaga alternatif yang kala ini banyak dibesarkan ialah Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) yang umum diketahui dengan nama Biodiesel. Biodiesel ialah bahan bakar alternatif yang menjanjikan serta dapat terbuat dari minyak goreng sisa, lemak hewani ataupun minyak nabati yang dikonversikan ke dalam metil ester lewat proses transesterifikasi memakai alkohol. Reaksi transesterifikasi ini membutuhkan katalis dalam penggunaanya. Setelah di amati, katalis heterogen menjadi katalis yang paling efektif dalam pembuatan biodiesel melalui reaksi transesterifikasi.

Abstract

Kemasan merupakan wajah dari sebuah produk jual. Hal ini menjadi salah satu poin utama yang dilihat oleh konsumen. Pengaruh kemasan terhadap produk UMKM adalah kemampuan penekanan biaya produksi. Bentuk kemasan botol yang telah dimiliki sebelumnya mendapatkan transformasi menjadi jenis standing pouch dengan mempertimbangkan faktor – faktor produksi. Kehadiran varian kemasan mampu memberikan peningkatan penjualan produk. Perubahan kemasan dari botol ke standing pouch memiliki keunggulan lebih jika ditinjau di aspek intensifikasi dan ekstensifikasi baik dari segi perluasan peralatan produksi, kemasan, dan penjualan produk jahe merah. Tinjauan keunggulan tersebut merujuk dari sejumlah faktor produksi dan sebagai penutup efisiensi dari nilai marginal produksi dengan cara mengaplikasikan fungsi Cobb-Dauglas.

Abstract

The discussion regarding detailed comparisons of air-cooled heat exchanger designs using mathematical equation calculations was carried out based on several literature sources related to heat exchanger design using simulation model calculations in the Aspen EDR V10 software.. This ACHE-type heat exchanger is designed to carry out processes with hot fluid in the form of saturated water vapor at a pressure of 2 bar and cold fluid in the form of air at a pressure of 1,101 bar. The saturated water vapor used has a temperature of 251,2oF, and the air used has a temperature of 84,2oF. The variables used for comparison are the performance parameters of the heat exchanger, which include the log mean temperature difference, pressure drop (ΔP), fouling factor (RD), heat transfer rate (Q), and overall heat transfer coefficient (U). The calculation results show that the mathematical model calculations and the simulation model in the software have differences, but that does not change the fact that the two calculation models produce tool performance parameter values that are in accordance with operating standards when viewed from the pressure drop value, fouling factor value, and heat transfer coefficient value. Abstract

Ginger is one of Indonesia's most abundant and widespread cultivated plants and is widely used in people's daily lives as a raw material and additive in the manufacture of food and beverages. One type of ginger that is in great demand in the herbal beverage industry is red ginger. The bioactive compounds found in ginger include 6-gingerol, 6-paradol, 6-methylshogaol, 8-methylshogaol, 8-gingerol, 10-gingerol and 6-shogaol. Red ginger contains various bioactive compounds with pharmacological effects such as analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antioxidant and cardiotonic effects. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is a microscopy technique used to produce high-resolution images of the surface of an electron sample. This study aimed to analyze the porosity of red ginger powder against variations in temperature and sugar content. The temperatures were 80 and 90°C with a sugar content of 60 and 100%. The results showed that the increase and decrease in the percentage of porosity values were caused by differences in temperature variations applied to the crystallization process. The rate of red ginger powder's porosity that approaches the fresh red ginger rate is red ginger powder at 80°C and 60% crystallization agent. The research results contributed to the characteristics of the materials used and the development of red ginger drink powder products.

Abstract

Red ginger (Zingiber officinale) is recognized as a medicinal plant with multiple benefits. The medicinal benefits of red ginger necessitate cautious handling and treatment to avoid damaging the compounds present in ginger. Producing red ginger powder to make an instant red ginger drink is one of the most frequent methods of ginger processing. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of raising the temperature during the evaporation-crystallization process (at 80 and 90 oC). Then, the proportion of crystallization agent is rock sugar (at 60 and 100%), which alters the color of red ginger extract, both in terms of research outcomes and commercial products. Each specimen is provided in the form of a solid stage (red ginger powder) and a liquid phase, whereby the red ginger powder is dissolved in hot water (approximately 50 oC). The color of both products was analyzed using a chromameter. The results indicate that the product samples' color changed with the color components L (dark-light), a (red-green), and b (yellow-blue). These changes were caused by an increase or decrease in the amount of dye in the red ginger extract. This caused carotenoids (red) and oleoresin (yellow). Additionally, they indicated a Maillard reaction due to the increase in temperature during the evaporation-crystallization process. The optimum outcomes of this research were observed when fresh raw materials were exposed to 90 °C and 100% cube sugar content. Notably, the color values exhibited no significant discrepancies from those of commercially available red ginger products.

Abstract

Box dryers are widely utilized in the chemical processing, food, and agricultural industries for drying purposes. The efficiency of these dryers significantly impacts energy utilization. Low thermal efficiency suggests inefficient heat utilization compared to the energy required for drying. Therefore, analyzing thermal efficiency is crucial to optimize energy usage, enhance drying effectiveness, and identify avenues for improvement. This study employs a direct method to assess the thermal efficiency of a box dryer. Data from observations, operational parameters, and literature form the basis for calculating thermal efficiency. Results indicate thermal efficiency ranging from 89.00% to 92.00%, with a drying feed mass rate of 77–91 kg/hour over six hours of operation. These findings classify the box dryer equipment as highly efficient. The industry maintains this efficiency through periodic maintenance schedules and optimization of drying conditions. This research provides a foundational analysis of box dryer performance, aiming to streamline the drying process and minimize energy consumption. The outcomes contribute to ongoing efforts in industrial sectors to enhance operational sustainability and economic viability.

Abstract

Shell and tube exchanger merupakan salah satu alat penukar panas yang menyediakan efisiensi perpindahan panas yang tinggi. Peralatan ini digunakan untuk mengubah amonia gas menjadi amonia liquid dengan media pendingin berupa air pendingin (disirkulasikan melalui tube). Kontak fluida proses selama di dalam alat penukar panas menjadi salah satu permasalahan dengan hadirnya pengotor maupun terbentuknya korosi pada material tube. Hal ini mampu memicu kerusakan pada dinding tube dan akibatnya berlanjut kebocoran pada tube. Studi artikel ini melibatkan penggunaan persamaan matematis terkait pergantian material tube desain yaitu carbon steel ke 309 stainless steels. Sejumlah parameter dalam shell and tube exchanger terevaluasi untuk meninjau A, U, dan perubahan yang terjadi pada dimensi alat penukar panas. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa adanya perbedaan nilai AC, Af  pengotor, UC, Uf pada material carbon steel dan 309 stainless steel sehingga kedua material memberikan kisaran sebesar 32,52-33,82; 520,16-521,46 m2; 21691,15– 22558,79; dan 14006,65–1410,17 W/m2.K; secara berturut-turut. Kemudian, perubahan nilai ID ­shell dan jumlah tube berupa 1069 menjadi 1070 mm dengan 906 menuju 908 buah. Peningkatan nilai parameter yang terevaluasi sebesar 3-4% pada peralatan penukaran perpindahan panas dari penerapan material 309 stainless steel dibandingkan carbon steel sebelumnya. Capaian ini mampu menyediakan laju perpindahan panas lebih baik bagi shell and tube condenser dan menjadi pertimbangan positif untuk mengganti material tube. Opsi tersebut jika dilanjutkan turut membutuhkan peninjauan kembali untuk aspek dimensi penukar panas terhadap area industri untuk proses penukar panas yang telah beroperasi selama ini.

Abstract

To be able to survive in a world of work that changes and develops dynamically, humans are required to continue to improve their abilities periodically. Companies not only require good academic skills but also additional skills that support the company's needs. Relevant abilities (hard skills) balanced with qualified interpersonal skills (soft skills) will be very helpful in work. This ability is useful for creating career opportunities or improving career paths. So, students are required to have quality personal abilities before entering the workforce. The purpose of scientific writing is to provide a description of the self-competencies needed by a chemical engineering graduate as evaluation material for preparation for entering the real world of work. soft skills needed by a chemical engineering graduate, such as analytical skills, problem-solving skills, good communication skills, teamwork, and leadership skills. In this era of globalization, communication skills intersect with foreign language skills such as English and Japanese. Some multinational companies expect their employees to be able to speak foreign languages for the smooth operation of the company. Various efforts have been made by Chemical Engineering at Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang in order to accommodate students and help them develop their potential. Through several activities such as chemical engineering software training, procurement of foreign language classes, and routinely holding public lectures by presenting practitioner teachers from companies. It is hoped that chemical engineering graduates from Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang will have sufficient provisions to face the world of work.
