Abstract

This article identifies a problem with students' ability to speak in public, especially in the use of English. Therefore, the researcher provides a method as a goal to improve the speaking ability of students specifically in the use of English. therefore, researching a method in this case Focus Group Discussion as a Communicative Activity in Improving Students' Speaking Skills at SMAN 5 Barru. From this article, speaking improvement can be contained from two things, namely looking at the conversation and how much vocabulary is used as a benchmark for improving students' speaking. The method used by the researcher is a quantitative research model with three stages, namely pre-test, treatment and post-test to obtain results. From these results, after being given the Focus Group Discussion method, there was an increase from before the method was given. Therefore, the Focus Group Discussion method is good to use in the learning process to improve students' speaking skills, especially in learning English.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan menganalisis implikasi dari banyaknya pemilih tanpa KTP-el terhadap kualitas data pemilih pada pemilu tahun 2024. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, tulisan ini akan mengurai dinamika proses pemutakhiran data pemilih yang berujung pada ditemukannya ribuan pemilih tanpa KTP-el di kabupaten Pangkajene dan Kepulauan (Pangkep), Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Tulisan ini menjadikan UU 7/2017, PKPU, surat dinas dan peraturan terkait lainnya, terkait dengan kepemilikan KTP-el sebagai sumber utama penulisan. Sebagai bagian dari menjaga hak pilih setiap warga negara saat pemilu, pemilih yang telah bersyarat disusun dan ditetapkan secara berjenjang oleh KPU. Ditemukannya ribuan pemilih tanpa KTP-el tersebut selain berimplikasi pada kualitas data pemilih juga pada hilangnya hak pilih di TPS, bila sampai hari pemungutan suara mereka (pemilih tanpa KTP-el) tidak melakukan perekaman KTP-el. Sementara UU 7/2017 maupun PKPU, pemilih wajib menunjukkan KTP-el saat hendak menyalurkan hak pilihnya di TPS.

Abstract

This research only focuses on analyzing students' difficulties in reading skills. Based on preliminary research, it shows that students still face difficulties in reading skills related to aspects and factors of reading skills. Therefore, this research aims to analyze students' difficulties in reading skills in Class IX of SMPN Lembang Bosang 12 Selayar Islands in the 2023/2024 academic year. descriptive qualitative research design was used in this research. Class IX was taken as a sample because it had lower reading scores than other classes.Document analysis, and interviews were used to collect data. The three main phases of data analysis are data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.After analyzing the data, the results showed that there were 3 aspects of students' difficulties in reading skills. Thus, the most difficult aspect that students face in reading skills is vocabulary. Based on student interviews, there are three factors of difficulty in reading skills. Thus, the factors of difficulty faced by students in reading skills are that students experience difficulty in understanding reading in long sentences, difficulty in using strategies, and difficulty in concentrating

Abstract

The objective in this research was to help students in writing with using quillbot grammar checker at SMA 9 Muhammadiyah Makassar in the academic years of 2022/2023.the study used quantitative research as its methodology. Pre-test and post-test about composing recount text were employed in this study. Students in the XI class at SMA 9 Muhammadiyah Makassar during the academic years 2022-2023 were focus of this study. In this study, samples were chosen at random, and the total population was 122 students, and the sample number was 24 students. The researcher used the writing test to gather quantitative information. The type of test was a recount text in which different topics are given to recount. The mean score of pre-test in the terms of students’ writing was 76, while in the post-test was 93, 4, and the improvement was 22, 89%.  It could be concluded that helping students’ writing shows that the using quillbot grammar checker improved the students’ writing, especially in terms of content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. It indicated that there is significant improvement in students writing skills after being used quillbot grammar checker. Based on the result, quillbot grammar checker needed by students. It showed that using quillbot grammar checker was effective to help in learning process especially in writing. The researcher advised students to use any similar tools or website if it necessary but don’t forget to learn more about writing and always keep practice.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover students' communication perspectives in online listening subjects. The method used in this research was qualitative method in the kind of phenomenological research. The research instrument to collect the data was a semi-structured interview. The subjects of this study were third-semester students of the English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar.Based on the results of this study, the perspective of student communication in online listening classes, students stated that the way the lecturer conveys material in the online listening class is direct via Zoom or Google meet. Meanwhile, in terms of interaction, some students answered that communication was done in writing on WhatsApp. Then, In terms of delivering feedback, almost all students mentioned that the lecturer delivered it in groups (one class). Whereas in terms of doing assignments students prefer to do them individually. Most students have a good opinion after studying these topics, and it helps them understand many situations in real life. Furthermore, most of the students mentioned that these themes influenced their understanding of culture because they heard how languages are in other countries. especially on differences in accent and pronunciation.

Abstract

This research describe the use of the flipped classroom method in English learning. The aims of this study was to see how to improve students' speaking skills through the flipped classroom model using recount text as a treatment tool. This study was conducted at SMAN 12 Gowa with the subject of the research being the students of class X MIPA 1 which consist of 27 students. This research design used a pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design. The results of this research indicate that, there is a comparison of the pre-test and post-test results which show that students' speaking ability before using the flipped classroom method is still lacking, while at the post-test stage students' speaking ability has increased significantly.. It can be proven from the results of the mean values ​​of grammar, fluency, and vocabulary, the mean speaking value can be obtained. The mean speaking value before the test was around 31.20, while the mean value after the test was 78.40, with the test results after the test increasing. Based on these data, it can be concluded that there is an increase in student learning outcomes by implementing flipped classes on speaking skills

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat telah dilaksanakan di Desa Muara Badak Ulu, Kecamatan Muara Badak, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur yang memiliki potensi besar dalam pengembangan Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM). Desa ini memiliki sumber daya lokal melimpah serta masyarakat dengan jiwa wirausaha sehingga UMKM berpeluang menjadi penggerak utama perekonomian desa. Program ini difokuskan pada digitalisasi dan manajemen keuangan bagi UMKM dengan tujuan meningkatkan literasi digital, memperkenalkan pencatatan berbasis aplikasi, serta mendorong penggunaan sistem pembayaran elektronik dan layanan perbankan digital. Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi tiga tahap. Tahap pra-pelaksanaan berupa pendataan awal, tahap pelaksanaan berupa seminar, pelatihan manajemen keuangan digital, serta praktik penyusunan laporan keuangan menggunakan Microsoft Excel. Tahap pasca-pelaksanaan berupa pembagian template Excel, pendampingan penggunaan QRIS dan aplikasi kasir digital, pembagian sertifikat peserta, serta dokumentasi melalui Gdrive. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman pelaku UMKM mengenai pentingnya pencatatan keuangan sistematis, pemisahan modal usaha, serta penerapan teknologi digital untuk mendukung keberlanjutan usaha. Output nyata kegiatan meliputi pembagian template laporan keuangan digital, fasilitasi pembuatan QRIS, serta pendampingan akses layanan perbankan seperti Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR). Kegiatan ini membuktikan kolaborasi akademisi, pemerintah daerah, dan perbankan menghadirkan solusi praktis memberdayakan UMKM melalui digitalisasi keuangan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana implementasi merdeka belajar dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan nonformal di daerah tertinggal. Penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan Dimana dalam hal ini, peneliti melakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu studi pustaka (studi literatur). Studi literatur merupakan bentuk penelitian yang dilakukan melalui penelusuran-penelusuran dengan membaca berbagai sumber baik buku, jurnal, dan terbitan-terbitan lain yang berkaitan dengan topik, isu atau permasalahan yang ada. Pendidikan nonformal di daerah tertinggal merupakan suatu bentuk pendidikan yang dilaksanakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat, hal ini berbeda dengan konsep pendidikan yang diminati di kota - kota besar. Dalam hal ini masyarakat desa tertinggal menyesuaikan kondisi mereka dengan pendidikan dalam arti kata mereka tidak akan meninggalkan identitas kepribadian mereka dan budaya mereka. Harus diakui bahwa dalam merdeka belajar kita tidak boleh membatasi hak akan pendidikan bagi seluruh masyarakat atau warga belajar, akan tetapi yang harus dipertimbangkan adalah bahwa tidak semua masyarakat memiliki kemampuan yang sama, baik kemampuan akademik maupun sosial ekonominya.

Abstract

Undang-Undang No. 7 Tahun 2017 tentang pemilihan umum telah mengatur tentang kebijakan afirmasi dengan memberikan kouta 30% terhadap bakal calon legislatif Perempuan didalam setiap periode pemilihan umum sejak tahun 2019, namun hal ini masih dianggap belum maksimal pada lembaga legislatif di Kabupaten Mamasa (Sulawesi Barat). Berdasarkan data keterwakilan Perempuan dalam pemilu tahun 2024, presentasenya masih di angka 8%, artinya masih kurang dari yang diharapkan. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mencermati mengapa kebijakan afirmasi tersebut belum berhasil mendorong keterwakilan Perempuan secara maksimal di Kabupaten Mamasa. Tulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus yang didasarkan pada wawancara mendalam dengan informan. Hasil Analisa pada tulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa kebijakan afirmasi yang ada, belum maksimal dalam menghasilkan keterpilihan calon legislatif Perempuan. Kondisi ini dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor seperti kurangnya pemahaman politik  kader Perempuan dari partai politik, proses perekrutan calon perempuan, serta kesiapan figur perempuan.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the students’ reading habits through The Identity-Based Habits Laws at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The data were collected at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. This research used a descriptive qualitative method, and the instruments used an interview. The findings of this research show that students have diverse reading habits, preferences, and time spent. They prefer apps, textbooks, and various genres. Distractions like cellphone interference and notifications can hinder reading experiences. Consistent reading habits, schedules, and discipline were essential. The result of the interview of this research showed that The Identity-Based Habits Laws at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar outlines four key habits to improve students' reading habits: making reading obvious, making reading attractive, making reading easy, and making reading satisfying. These habits involve reducing distractions, engaging in conversations with friends, setting simple goals, and finding books that help overcome life's challenges, focusing on genres like novels, fiction, fantasy, action, crime, dark romance, and self-development.
