Abstract

Historically, Bangladesh has been host to numerous religious minorities, such as Buddhists, Hindus, Sheiks, Animists, and Atheists. It made a significant contribution to the continuation of social, political, and religious concord among people of many religious views after the liberation war. In varied communities like Bangladesh, religious concord is especially dependent on religious cooperation. This study used a mixed-method approach to investigate the dynamics of religious cohabitation in Bangladesh, depending on Islamic texts, particularly the Quran and Hadith, to provide background. In this study, the concepts and ideals that facilitate peaceful coexistence among various religious groups in Bangladesh are examined through an analysis of pertinent passages and teachings. The study also evaluates Bangladesh's current state of minority groups’ social, political, and religious rights. The study’s conclusions add to the conversation on religious coexistence and provide useful advice for promoting interfaith harmony and understanding in Bangladesh and elsewhere. The outcome demonstrates that Islam places a strong emphasis on treating minorities and individuals of all religions with respect and decency. Bangladesh is a multicultural country that is suitable for coexisting peacefully with individuals of different backgrounds. Regardless of caste or religion, people here are kind and considerate of one another. At times conflicts are seen between Muslims and non-Muslims as people think most of them are personal and political provocations.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the key factors influencing student motivation and behavior in higher education, with a specific emphasis on student engagement, counseling, and mental health services. The main objective is to understand how these components contribute to students’ academic and personal development, enhance their learning experiences, and foster a healthy and inclusive campus environment. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework draws from Self-Determination Theory (SDT), which highlights the significance of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in motivating individuals. Literature review: The literature review supports the role of student-centered support systems, particularly mental health and counseling services, as essential for academic persistence and emotional resilience. Methods: A qualitative research approach was adopted, employing focus groups and in-depth interviews with a diverse set of participants. These included faculty members across various disciplines, professional counselors, mental health practitioners, and students. Results: The study reveals that intrinsic motivation—fostered through an inclusive and supportive academic culture—is a major determinant of student success. Students who actively engage in academic and extracurricular activities demonstrate more positive behavior and show higher levels of motivation and resilience. Counseling and mental health services play a crucial role in helping students navigate emotional and psychological stress, thus sustaining their engagement and well-being. Implications: The findings have significant implications for higher education institutions. They underscore the need to prioritize mental health services and student engagement programs as core components of student success strategies. Institutions should create opportunities for leadership, peer support, and inclusive learning to strengthen students’ sense of belonging and community. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its integrated perspective, combining academic, psychological, and social dimensions to propose a holistic model for fostering student motivation and behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comparative study on the concept of ideal teacher competence according to Al-Ghazali and Abdullah Nashih Ulwan, as well as examine their relevance and application in the modern education system. Teacher competence, which includes aspects of knowledge, skills, and morals, is an important element in shaping the quality of education. Al-Ghazali and Abdullah Nashih Ulwan, as prominent scholars, have made significant contributions in formulating the characteristics of the ideal teacher from the Islamic perspective. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, where data is collected through an in-depth literature study of the works of the two figures. The results of the study show that although there are some similarities in the views of Al-Ghazali and Abdullah Nashih Ulwan related to the competence of ideal teachers, such as the emphasis on noble morals and mastery of science, there are also differences in the context of their application. Al-Ghazali emphasizes more on the role of teachers in building the character of students and the educational community, while Abdullah Nashih Ulwan focuses more on the aspects of mastery of knowledge and teaching methods. The novelty of this study lies in a comparative analysis that reveals the relevance of the views of these two scholars in answering the challenges of modern education, including in the application of technology and curriculum development. The implications of this research are expected to be a reference for policymakers and education practitioners in formulating teacher competency development strategies based on Islamic values, which are by the demands of the times without ignoring religious principles.

Abstract

Youth radicalization presents serious threats to the peace and stability of society, particularly in educational environments. The purpose of this study is to investigate how Student-Centered Learning (SCL) at Islamic Junior Schools functions as a deterrent to radicalization. Critical thinking, inclusivity, and active student involvement are all promoted by SCL and are essential in lowering a person's vulnerability to extreme views. This study investigates the use of SCL in promoting an inclusive learning environment through a qualitative method that includes teacher and student interviews. The results show that SCL encourages critical thinking and respect for one another, assisting students in interacting with a range of perspectives and fending off extreme influences. However, obstacles including insufficient training for teachers and a lack of resources prevent SCL from reaching its full potential in counter-radicalization initiatives. To optimize the effectiveness of SCL as a preventive measure against radicalization, the study emphasizes the necessity of professional growth and institutional support. Educational officials and organizations hoping to establish more secure and welcoming learning environments should take note of these findings.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the role of Conti Entertain, a digital entertainment platform, as a gateway to gambling behavior among adolescents, focusing on the challenges and potential solutions. With the rapid growth of digital technology, platforms like Conti Entertain, which integrate gaming and entertainment with monetary incentives, have increasingly attracted young audiences. Theoretical framework: Theoretical underpinnings of this research draw from theories of adolescent cognitive development, social influence, and digital consumer protection. Literature Review: A literature review highlights that digital gambling, particularly through mechanisms like loot boxes and random rewards, has become a growing concern within the digital entertainment ecosystem. Methods: This research adopts a qualitative methodology using a case study approach. Data collection methods include in-depth interviews with adolescents, parents, and experts in digital media, psychology, and law, along with content analysis of features within Conti Entertain that promote gambling tendencies. Results: The findings reveal that Conti Entertain significantly influences gambling-like behaviors through mechanisms such as loot boxes, random rewards, and monetization features that blur the line between gaming and gambling. Adolescents are particularly susceptible to these tactics due to their developing cognitive control and peer influence. The study identifies inadequate regulations and lack of parental supervision as major challenges aggravating the issue. Implications: The implications of this study underscore the necessity for stricter regulations on digital entertainment platforms to protect young users from exploitative monetization schemes. Parental awareness and active engagement in monitoring online activities are equally critical. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its focus on Conti Entertain as a specific case study within the broader digital gambling landscape. These findings contribute significantly to understanding the link between digital entertainment and gambling behavior among adolescents, offering practical solutions to address this pressing issue.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors influencing entrepreneurial interest among students (santri) in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) affiliated with HEBITREN (Himpunan Ekonomi Bisnis Pesantren, or Pesantren Business Economics Association) in Solo Raya, Central Java, Indonesia. The research identifies three key determinants: self-efficacy, risk tolerance, and environmental conditions. Using a mixed-method approach that integrates quantitative and qualitative analyses, the study surveyed 130 students from two HEBITREN-affiliated institutions: Muhammad Al-Fatih Islamic Boarding School in Sukoharjo and Al-Izzah Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta. The findings highlight self-efficacy as the most significant factor shaping entrepreneurial interest, reinforced by its integration into the educational curriculum and its strong alignment with Islamic values. In contrast, while risk tolerance and community influence contribute, their influence is comparatively marginal. Additionally, the study identifies insufficient entrepreneurial training facilities and limited institutional human resources as barriers to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among santri. These findings emphasize the need for targeted policy interventions to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem within pesantren, particularly through infrastructure improvements, enhanced self-sufficiency initiatives, and practical entrepreneurial training. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic education and economic empowerment, providing critical insights for policymakers and educational institutions on the role of pesantren in cultivating future entrepreneurs.

Abstract

This research aims to find a model of human Islamic education for the Dayak Bakumpai tribe in Puruk Cahu, Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan, and factors that support and hinder the implementation of humanism Islamic education. This research was qualitative research using the field study method. Data were collected through observation, field interviews, and documentation in the form of manuscripts and articles related to the research's subject. The object of this research was Islamic education institutions comprised of formal, non-formal, and informal education institutions. The research subjects were Islamic religious teachers, preachers, Bakumpai Dayak people, and religious leaders. The approach used was ethnography-phenomenology, emphasizing studying and interpreting the nomenclature of the Dayak ethnic group. The analysis was done using descriptive analysis, which looks for correlation and significance between the data collected to arrive at results that are in line with the predicted outcomes. The findings of the research indicate that the humanism Islamic education model of the Dayak tribe can be divided into three categories: (1) formal education; at SMA Muhammadiyah, this was accomplished through a self-development program in the form of extracurricular activities such as the martial arts Tapak Suci, Hizbul Wathon, and counselling and guidance. (2). Non-formal education; at Pondok Pesantren Karya Pembangunan in the form of Speech training, Nasyid, Habsyi, and leadership training. (3). Informal education; in the form of arisan (a kind of social gathering activity), community development for converts, and religious lectures in mosques. Humanism Islamic education was influenced by several factors, such as Sufism, immigrants, trade, and marriage.
