Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of community leaders in promoting quality political participation in Kertasari Village, Suradadi District, Tegal Regency. The research focuses on: (1) the forms of roles carried out by community leaders, (2) the political communication strategies employed, and (3) the challenges faced in building citizens’ political awareness. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation, analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that: (1) community leaders serve as educators, mediators, and moral role models through informal spaces such as religious gatherings, community meetings, and personal communication; (2) the strategies applied are persuasive and contextual, considering citizens’ social backgrounds and levels of political literacy; and (3) participation challenges include political apathy, transactional influences, and limited access to information. To address these issues, community leaders employ cultural approaches and exemplary conduct. Abstract

This study aims to develop an environmentally contextualized reading corner as a solution to improve reading literacy among elementary school students in Dabin Wahidin Sudirohusodo, Lebaksiu District. Initial observations indicated low reading interest and comprehension skills among students, as well as underutilized reading corners in classrooms. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the development process included needs identification, design, expert validation, limited trials, and broad implementation. The results showed that reading corners designed with local environmental context and active teacher involvement significantly enhanced students' reading interest, text comprehension, and helped build a stronger culture of literacy. This program proved effective and can serve as an applicable instructional strategy that supports the School Literacy Movement (GLS) in a more targeted and contextual manner. In addition to improving cognitive skills, this literacy activity also strengthened students' social interaction through discussion and book sharing. Teachers played a strategic role in creating an engaging reading corner atmosphere and guiding structured reading activities. This research offers practical contributions to literacy development in primary education settings, particularly in areas with limited resources.

Abstract

The background of this research is the low level of literacy and numeracy in the Education Report Cards of Junior High Schools (SMP) in Tegal Regency, where learning is still conventional and isolated within specific subjects. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Math City Map (MCM) application in improving the pedagogical competence of mathematics teachers in Dukuhwaru District. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (Pretest-Posttest).  The participants consisted of 10 teachers from 5 schools. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired sample t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in the average score from 64.75 (pretest) to 85.35 (posttest), with a mean difference of 20.60 points. Statistical testing using the t-test yielded a p-value of 0.00003 (< 0.05), indicating a highly significant difference. Furthermore, regression analysis showed that the intervention contributed 69% to the final outcome. In conclusion, the application of MCM is effective in enhancing teachers' pedagogical competence and creating a contextual, meaningful learning atmosphere.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the implementation of communal cooperation (gotong royong) and social care values in the Libotan tradition of Pemaron Village, Brebes Regency, Central Java. Using a literature review method, this study synthesizes previous research findings concerning communal cooperation, social care, and local traditions in Indonesian rural societies. The review reveals that local traditions like Libotan function as social frameworks where the values of cooperation and social solidarity are manifested through collective labor, mutual assistance, and community participation. However, modernization and socio‐economic transformation pose challenges to the sustainability of these values. The article proposes a conceptual framework and field research instruments to empirically analyze these dynamics in Pemaron. The findings contribute to the academic discourse on sustaining local wisdom and social cohesion in Indonesian rural communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of parenting style and students' self-concept on academic achievement in Science, Mathematics, and English subjects at the junior high school level. This study uses a quantitative method, involving parents, students, and BK teachers in Bantarkawung District as samples. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, and data analysis used descriptive statistics and multiple regression to determine the relationship between independent variables (parenting style and self-concept) with the dependent variable (academic achievement). The results showed that parenting style and self-concept had a significant effect on learning achievement. Parenting styles that support and encourage independence have been shown to help form positive self-concepts in students, which in turn have an impact on improving academic achievement. In addition, students with strong and positive self-concepts tend to show better learning outcomes. These findings indicate that appropriate parenting patterns and healthy self-concepts are important factors in supporting students' academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of technology-based academic supervision on the performance of public junior high school teachers in Bantarkawung District. Technology-based academic supervision was implemented through the use of digital media, particularly classroom learning video recordings created by teachers. This research employed a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 105 teachers, with 83 teachers selected as the research sample. Data were collected using questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, t-tests to examine partial effects, and F-tests to determine simultaneous effects. The results show that technology-based academic supervision has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, as indicated by positive regression coefficients and significant t and F test results at a significance level of 0.05. These findings indicate that technology-based academic supervision can enhance the effectiveness of teacher professional development and support sustainable improvement in teacher performance

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of students and teachers regarding the development of QR Code-based content-differentiated learning methods in Civic Education (PPKn) at MAN Kota Tegal. The primary challenges in teaching PPKn include the tendency for material to be perceived as abstract and the diverse characteristics of students within the classroom. This study represents the preliminary stage of a Research and Development (R&D) project. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques involving semi-structured interviews with PPKn teachers, classroom observations, and the distribution of needs assessment questionnaires to 64 eleventh-grade students across two classes. The results reveal three main findings: (1) There is a diversity of student learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) that have not been optimally facilitated by current teaching methods, which remain dominated by lectures; (2) Students face difficulties in understanding conceptual and procedural PPKn material, yet they demonstrate a high interest in using mobile devices for learning; (3) Teachers require practical tools to implement content differentiation without significantly increasing their administrative burden. Furthermore, the availability of smartphones and internet access within the school environment is highly supportive. It is concluded that the development of QR Code-based content-differentiated learning methods is urgent and highly relevant for implementation at MAN Kota Tegal to bridge the gap in student learning needs.

Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is essential for preparing learners to address environmental, social, and economic challenges. This study examines the integration of ESD content in a Grade IX junior secondary school science textbook under the Merdeka Curriculum. Using qualitative content analysis, narrative texts, illustrations, tables, and learning activities were analyzed based on three sustainability pillars and five ESD components proposed by Tilbury and Wortman. The results show that ESD is present but unevenly integrated, with an average score of 5.2 out of 10. Environmental and social pillars are more dominant than the economic pillar. Critical and future-oriented thinking is emphasized, while participation, decision-making, and systemic approaches remain limited. These findings indicate that ESD integration is still partial and requires strengthening to support sustainability competencies and SDG 4.7.
