Abstract

Deforestation of forest areas has a direct impact on the condition of flora and fauna, disturbed biodiversity and can lead to the extinction of certain species, one of which is kulim. Kulim is MPTS (Multipurpose Tree Species), almost all parts of the tree have high economic value, the wood is widely used by the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution and characteristics of the habitat of the kulim (Scorodocarpus borneensis Becc.) In the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve. The research method used is a survey method using vegetation analysis. The method of vegetation analysis in this study is a combination of the pathway and checkered line method. The results of the research that have been carried out indicate that the pattern of distribution of the skin in the Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve which is located on the three research lines forms a clustered distribution pattern. This is evidenced by the standard morisita degree obtained which shows Ip > 0. Kulim lives on sandy loam soils with a yellowish brown color and an average pH of 4,6 (acid). The average temperature is 26,8 °C and the average humidity is 84,9%. Other vegetation contained in the research plot amounted to 59 types with the level of seedlings, saplings, poles and trees. Keywords:Distribution pattern, habitat, kulim, Bukit Bungkuk Nature Reserve

Abstract

Orangutancan be used as one of the most unique primate species in Indonesia. The shrinking and destruction of lowland forest, which is the habitat for orangutan has now reached a critical point. Forest fires and rampant poaching have caused the orangutanpopulation to decline. The formulation of an orangutanconservation strategy is necessary to preserve the orangutan population. One of the efforts to prevent the extinction of endangered species is to maintain natural individuals under controlled conditions and under human supervision, known as ex-situ conservation. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of orangutan welfare in ex-situ conservation at Kasang Kulim Zoo. The welfare level oforangutan inex-situconservation at Kasang Kulim Zoo got a good predicate with a final score was 78.35. The aspects of orangutanwelfare include being free from hunger and thirst, free from environmental discomfort, free from pain, injury and disease, free from fear and pressure and free from behaving normally. Keywords :Orangutan, ex-situ conservation, intensity, prosperity level

Abstract

Shorea leprosula  is a Dipterocarpacean tribe that is very adaptive in open areas, both in submerged and dry peatlands. This is one of the triggering factors for cultivating Shorea leprosula plants in Riau, which are predominantly peatlands. Superior plants of Shorea leprosula need to use fertilizers as a medium to improve plant quality. One of them is cow urine waste that can be used at an affordable price and is easily available and has a function as a plant pest control. This study aims to determine the response of the growth of Shorea leprosula to the application of liquid cow urine fertilizer under the shade of oil palm stands. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 4 (four) treatments, with four replications in order to obtain sixteen experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of five Shorea leprosula seedlings, with a total number of 80 seedlings. The treatment carried out was administration of cow urine. The results showed that the dose of liquid cow urine fertilizer had an effect on the growth of Shorea leprosula sedlings in the treatment of 20% cow urine liquit fertilizer (K1) by showing the percentage of 100% life yield, and the increase in seed height of 6,86 cm.Keywords : Shorea leprosula, cow urine, peat

Abstract

Peatland is the result of the accumulation of organic matter from weathering vegetation. Peat restoration is a process to restore the ecological function of peat areas. The efforts to restore peat are carried out through three approaches, one of peat restoration is regrowth. Dyera lowii Hook.f is one types of local plants of double yield peat bog forest namely sap and wood with high economy. The purpose of this research is to determine the best application of the cocopeat composition as plant media to the growth of Dyera lowii. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications so that 20 units of the experiment would be obtained. The treatments are: C1 (without application of cocopeat/ control) C2 (application of cocopeat 25%-75% peat soil) C3 (application of cocopeat 50%-50% peat soil) C4 (application of  cocopeat 75%-25% peat soil) C5 (application of cocopeat 100%). The data obtained from the research results were analyzed with variance using SPSS 20.0. furthermore if the results of the variance have a significant effect, further analysis will be carried out using the (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The best application of the composition as plant media, namely cocopeat 75% and 25% peat soil in general showed the best result increase in seedling height of 1,16  cm, increase in seedling diameter of 1,23 mm, and top root ratio of 1,91.                                                                                                                                   Keywords: Cocopeat, Dyera lowii Hook. f, seedling media

Abstract

Bird in Indonesia is a protected animal and one of the biodiversity that must be preserved from extinction and the decline in species diversity which has an important role in the forest ecosystem. The purpose of this research was to determine the diversity of bird species found in Imbo Putui Customary Forest in Petapahan Village, Kampar Regency. This study uses a the point count method by following a predetermined transect path, which is divided into three observation paths. Parameters observed included bird species, number of birds, time of encounter and bird activity. The results showed that the diversity of bird species found in Imbo Putui Customary Forest was 30 bird species from 19 families. The index of bird species diversity in the Imbo Putui Indigenous Forest area shows 3.11 with a high category and the Relative Abundance Value (IKR) of bird species in each Imbo Putui Customary Forest area is low. Keywords : Bird, customary forest, animals.

This research uses observation method, survey method and literature study. Observation method is carried out by direct observation of the research object, survey method data is collected by conducting direct interviews with agroforestry land owners and literature studies are obtained by studying literature, reports, scientific works, research results, and other sources related to research. Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner based on the results of observations that had been made. The results of this study found 3 types of basic components of agroforestry land owned by farmers. The constituent components are forestry plants as many as 16 species and 125 trees, agricultural plants found as many as 9 species and plantation crops namely oil palm plantations. Total income from agroforestry business is Rp. 57,418,500/year. This value contributes 48% of the total income of farmers. Keyword: agroforestry, contribution, revenue, composition.

Abstract

The people of Rumbio Village are people with an average profession as farmers. The people of Rumbio Village have an economic level at the middle to lower level and need special attention from the government. One way to improve the economic level of the Rumbio village community is by forming their skills in post-harvest processing of agricultural products. This skill is needed for processing agricultural products in this case red ginger. based on this, a community service activity entitled "Improving Community Skills in Rumbio Village, Kampar Regency through Red Ginger Processing" was carried out. The method of application is carried out in the form of socialization and direct practice, namely processing red ginger into instant ginger, this activity is carried out in the meeting hall of the Rumbio Village office with the target community, namely the PKK women of Rumbio village. activity, where the participants were very enthusiastic and contributed to the processing of instant ginger, then the results were also obtained that this instant red ginger can generate profits twice as much as the initial capital spent. Processing of instant ginger is a very promising business opportunity, so it is important to improve the skills of the target community in processing red ginger into instant ginger, the increase is seen from the achievement of the activity indicators, namely technical and non-technical knowledge of making instant red ginger.
