Abstract

Mangrove forests have an important role in regulating the stability of sea and land conditions, as well as forming various species of trees, shrubs and flora. One area that has a mangrove ecosystem in Bengkalis Regency is Teluk Pambang Village. Mangrove ecotourism in Teluk Pambang has good potential to be developed such as natural resources, characteristics and uniqueness of mangroves, diversity of mangrove species and regional comfort. The aims of this research are (1) know the potential and attractiveness of mangrove ecotourism and (2) determine the strategy of developing mangrove ecotourism in Teluk Pambang Village, Bantan Regency, Bengkalis Regency. This research began in December 2018 in the village of Teluk Pambang, Bantan Regency, Bengkalis Regency. The study was conducted using methods of field observation, observation and study of literature. Analysis of the ecotourism development strategy was carried out in the SWOT analysis. The potential of mangrove forest ecotourism in Teluk Pambang has beautiful natural scenery, a high level of security, and there are 10 species of fauna and 9 species of flora. Based on differences in the number of internal and external factors, the Strategy Matrix is in quadrant 1. Strategies to develop mangrove forest ecotourism, namely increasing human resources (HR), planting rare mangrove species, planting mangrove abrasion barriers, development, procurement of facilities and supporting infrastructure so both among the stakeholders.

In the distribution pattern of farmers sago marketing as producers sell their farming products to toke / factory owners distribute their products to cooperatives and end up to consumers. In the distribution pattern there is an activity of activity, namely physical distribution. Transportation and marketing smoothnes are also problems because accessibility is so far that it affects the quality of sago flour. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the distribution pattern of sago marketing and find out the physical distribution activities in each distribution pattern of marketing of sago in Mekar Sari Village, Merbau District, Meranti islands Regency. The method used was purposive sampling, a method considering samples taken from the criteria of respondents, sago farmers who settled in Mekar Sari Village, had sago plantation land in Mekar Sari Village, and could provide information to researchers. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis method. Based on the results of the study that the distribution pattern of sago marketing in Mekar Sari Village, Merbau Subdistrict, Meranti Islands Regency, there are two forms of sago distribution marketing pattern, namely medium distribution patterns and long distribution patterns and physical distribution activities in each sago marketing distribution pattern in Mekar Sari Village, includes post-harvest handling of sago flour and transportation of sago flour using sea transportation access, namely barges.

Abstract

Wildlife Reserve is a nature reserve forest that is designed as a place for wildlife that has distinctive value and beneficial for science and culture, also a source of national wealth and pride. This research was conducted to find out the use of traditional medicinal plants in Kerumutan Wildlife Reserve and approach the surrounding community. The type of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The population in this study were all communities around the Wildlife Reserve area. This research used purposive sampling, with research procedures namely interviews and observations. Observations were made using 1 observation track, located in natural forest. The track has long 1.5 km, which has 30 observation plots sized 5 m x 5 m. The distance between the plots was 30 m from the first plot to the next plot. The results showed there were 27 species with 19 families of medicinal plants that could be used and processed into medicines in the Kerumutan Wildlife Reserve forest area. Different uses and processing of plant species can produce medicines that can treat diseases suffered by the community. Medicinal plants were most widely used by the community as a febrifuge and abdominal pain.

Abstract

In visual way, distinguishing mangrove land cover located in Kembung river Bengkalis is hard to do especially if it is using far remote sensing technology. However by applying spectral analyze method, this problem is possibly fixed. It started by taking area sample (training area) 3x3 pixels as many as 10 areas for each classes of land cover, then the result obtained is analyzed by statistical variability test before continued to DMRT test to measure the ability of separation by using separability. Based on the analysis of variability to the spectral value of sattelite vision Sentinel-2A that F-hit (17,626) higher than F-tab (1,98), it showed the treatment has significant effect. The result of DMRT test on reflectancy value of spectral sattelite vision sentinel-2A can be classified into five spectral groups and DMRT test to the mangrove land cover consisted of four groups. Meanwhile, based on separability test there are 36 class pairs, 32 (90,9%) can be separated each way, while 4 (9,1%) can not be separated.

Abstract

Unmanned aerial vehicle is one way to get the information of spatial data that photographed in detail small objects on the land with coverage area that is not too broad. The photo shoot was done in the Riau University Arboretum and surrounding areas. The location of the photo shoot on the research including scientific development zone to study forest ecosystems, activities of Student Affairs and the place that usually visited by community. This research aims to mapping and to know the land cover in the Riau University Arboretum and to know value of the accuracy test of the aerial photography from the unmanned aerial vehicle. The aerial photography is analyzed by visual interpretation, the maximum scale based on spatial resolution and use omission commission testing accuracy to compare the value of the observed object in the field and aerial photograph. The bounderies of Riau University Arboretum is not in the field physically, so the Riau University Arboretum as a landmark. The result of the maximum scale is 1:100 with 2.77 cm spatial resolution, so it seems clear the land cover in the aerial photography i.e. vegetation, buildings, and undeveloped land. The result of accuracy test that was conducted showed that the percentage of accuracy reaches 95%, so that the data from the unmanned aerial vehicle can be utilized for mapping a region.

Abstract

Nibung (Oncosperma tigillarium) is a palm-like plant that grows in Southeast Asia and covers almost all parts of Indonesia. Nibung stem is very resistant to use in coastal areas by the community as building material and as a support pole. This study aims to determine the durable class of Batang Nibung (Oncosperma Tigillarium) from termite attack (Coptotermes curvignathus). This research method uses a Complete Random Design (CRD) balanced nest design. Nibung's Natural Endurance Test on Soil Termites (Coptotermes curvignathus) using SNI 01-7207-2006. Nibung stem as a whole has a decrease in average Weight Loss (WL) value of 15.37% and is included in the class IV durable, while the nibung stem which has the smallest WL is found at the base of the skin (Pk) which is 2.39% classified in the durable class I and the part that has the most WL is found on the tip of the skin (Uk), which is 24.09% belonging to the durable V class

Abstract

Salacca sumatrana Becc is one of the  Salacca zalacca which has been widely known to the public, especially in North Sumatra. Sitaratoit village is one of the  Salacca sumatrana Becc producing areas, which each household has  Salacca sumatrana Becc fields planted on its own as well as inherited from the family. The farmers decision on species selection was important as a consideration for developing agroforestry patterns in the future because risk factors were always present in each selection specific tree species. The purpose of this study was to identify the basis component selection of Salacca sumatrana Becc agroforestry based on community perceptions in Sitaratoit Village. The research data was obtained from in-depth interviews conducted in Sitaratoit Village using the purposive sampling method. This research showed that based on cultural, economic and ecological factors, the constituent components of  Salacca sumatrana Becc agroforestry in Siataratoit village were as follows: Salacca sumatrana Becc as the main commodity, Hevea brasiliensis, Durio zibethinus, and Persea americana as a shade tree and protective tree, Gmelina arborea and Toona sinensis as a land divider.
