The statistical test results showed that there was abnormal data, so the statistical test used in this study was a nonparametric statistical test, U Mann Whitney. Abstract

The existence of street vendors (PKL) has become a continually relevant topic of discussion over time. Street vendors are often perceived as a social problem within community structures. On the other hand, their presence significantly contributes to the circulation of the local economy. This study aims to identify the social interaction patterns of street vendors in the Digulis Area of Pontianak. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative method. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, while data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews. The instruments used for data collection include observation sheets and interview guidelines, which were designed based on George Simmel’s theory. Data analysis techniques employed in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification as proposed by Miles and Huberman. The results show that the social interactions among street vendors in the Digulis Area of Pontianak occur in a harmonious and dynamic manner. Conflicts rarely occur due to collective awareness of maintaining harmony, while competition still exists but takes place in a healthy way. In addition, cooperation and social exchange are evident through practices of mutual assistance, borrowing trading materials, and sharing information among vendors. The form of social domination that emerges is economic in nature and is accepted reasonably, as it is perceived as a result of each vendor’s strategy and hard work. Overall, the social interaction patterns of street vendors reflect a balance between cooperation, competition, exchange, conflict, and domination as described by George Simmel.

Abstract

Culture is the foundation of social existence and a dynamic guide to life, adapting to the advancement of globalization. In Indonesia, ritual plays a crucial role as a medium for strengthening solidarity and transmitting noble values. One important ritual is the Tatung Dayak Singkawang Tradition in West Kalimantan, a product of the acculturation of the Dayak and Chinese ethnicities. This tradition was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Indonesia in 2020 and features supernatural practices such as invulnerability, symbolizing courage and warding off disaster. Previous studies have emphasized phenomenological and functional approaches, but gaps remain in understanding the ontological and epistemological dimensions of this tradition. This study aims to analyze the deeper meaning and spiritual values behind the Tatung Dayak Singkawang Tradition. Using a qualitative approach with George Herbert Mead's symbolic interactionism design, subjects were selected through purposive sampling: Tatung artists of Chinese ethnicity. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman techniques, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results demonstrate that Tatung is not merely a performance, but a spiritual-social process for achieving communal balance and protection. Possession by ancestral spirits is considered a guardian, shaping the construction of the spiritual self (The Self) and legitimizing invulnerability as a symbol of spiritual purity and a barrier against negative energy. Key rituals such as street washing and ward off disaster reflect the collective hope of the Singkawang community for safety (Generalized Other). Cultural acculturation is reflected in costumes and language that adapt to the identity of the possessing spirit, not the Tatung ethnicity. Compliance with taboos emphasizes the internalization of collective hopes to maintain the sacred role of the Tatung. Overall, this tradition is a system of symbolic interactions that shape and maintain the Collective Self based on the hope of cleansing and safety.

Abstract

The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) is one of the faculties at Tanjungpura University that serves as a platform for prospective teachers to study learning theories and their application in society. As future educators, students are expected to be active in writing, both in the form of papers and scientific articles. When they become teachers, they are still required to conduct research and are expected to continue producing scientific writing. However, teachers often feel confused about how to start writing, and many common issues arise, such as errors in writing, inconsistencies with article guidelines, and improper use of language conventions. These problems lead to delays in publication due to lengthy revision processes, and some manuscripts are even rejected. Therefore, this training is organized to guide teachers in writing articles and tailor them to the needs of project-based learning aligned with a deep learning approach. Through this program, teachers will gain knowledge about comprehensive scientific writing and subsequently align it with their preferred learning themes.
