Abstract

Background. The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has opened new possibilities for the revitalization of endangered languages, offering tools for documentation, translation, and intergenerational transmission. However, these technological interventions raise ethical and epistemological concerns about linguistic data sovereignty the right of communities to control how their languages are represented, stored, and utilized in digital systems. Purpose. The study investigates how AI-driven language technologies contribute to both the preservation and commodification of endangered languages, examining the tension between technological innovation and cultural autonomy. The objective is to critically analyze the dual role of AI as a facilitator of linguistic resilience and as a potential vector of digital colonialism. Method. A qualitative mixed-method approach was employed, combining digital ethnography, policy analysis, and interviews with linguists, AI developers, and indigenous language activists. Data were gathered from five AI-based revitalization projects across Oceania, Africa, and North America, focusing on the implementation of machine learning models for speech recognition, corpus generation, and automated translation. Results. The findings reveal that while AI enables large-scale linguistic preservation through automation and accessibility, it also risks undermining community ownership by centralizing control of linguistic datasets within corporate or academic infrastructures. Projects that integrate community-led design and ethical data governance demonstrate higher sustainability and cultural authenticity. Conclusion. The study concludes that digital resurrection of endangered languages requires a framework grounded in data justice and participatory co-creation. AI must function not as an external savior but as a collaborative epistemic ally that empowers linguistic communities to reclaim agency in defining their digital futures.

Abstract

Inheritance in the Minangkabau community of West Sumatra represents a complex legal phenomenon that reflects the coexistence and tension between fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), adat (customary law), and state law. This study aims to analyze how these three normative systems interact, overlap, and negotiate authority in resolving inheritance disputes among Minangkabau people. Using a qualitative sociolegal approach, the research was conducted through indepth interviews, field observations, and document analysis of inheritance cases handled by both adat institutions and religious courts. The findings reveal that inheritance practices in Minangkabau are shaped by a hybrid legal culture: adat prioritizes matrilineal lineage and communal ownership, fiqh emphasizes individual entitlement based on Qur’anic prescriptions, while state law seeks harmonization through formal judicial mechanisms. In practice, local communities often employ adat principles for land and property distribution but rely on fiqhbased settlements when disputes escalate to formal courts. The study concludes that the coexistence of these systems demonstrates a dynamic legal pluralism, where social harmony is maintained through pragmatic compromise rather than rigid adherence to a single legal framework.

Abstract

Psychological flourishing refers to the optimal functioning of individuals, characterized by high levels of well-being, personal growth, and life satisfaction. Self-compassion, the ability to treat oneself with kindness during times of failure or difficulty, has been increasingly recognized as a critical factor in promoting mental health and well-being. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-compassion and psychological flourishing in young adults. Specifically, it investigates how different aspects of self-compassion, such as self-kindness and mindfulness, contribute to overall well-being and personal growth in this demographic. A quantitative correlational research design was employed, using surveys to collect data from 300 young adults aged 18-30. The Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) was used to measure self-compassion, and the Psychological Flourishing Scale (PFS) was used to assess flourishing. Pearson’s correlation and regression analyses were conducted to determine the relationship between self-compassion and flourishing. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between self-compassion and psychological flourishing. Higher levels of self-compassion were associated with greater well-being, personal growth, and life satisfaction among young adults. This study concludes that self-compassion is a significant predictor of psychological flourishing in young adults.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has the potential to transform teaching practices and enhance learning experiences in the 21st-century classroom. AI-powered teaching models, which incorporate personalized learning, adaptive feedback, and intelligent tutoring systems, offer new opportunities to address diverse learning needs and improve educational outcomes. This research investigates the role of AI in enhancing pedagogical strategies by examining its impact on student engagement, academic performance, and teacher efficiency. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative case studies across five institutions that have integrated AI tools into their teaching practices. The results indicate that students who engaged with AI-powered tools demonstrated significant improvements in both engagement (82%) and academic performance (75%), particularly through personalized learning features. Educators reported enhanced classroom efficiency, as AI tools helped automate administrative tasks and provided real-time data on student progress. The study concludes that AI-powered teaching models are effective in fostering more personalized, engaging, and efficient learning environments. These models not only support individualized learning but also enhance the broader educational experience by improving communication between students and educators. The research highlights the potential of AI in shaping the future of education and offers practical insights into its integration into pedagogical strategies.
