Abstract

Kemampuan siswa dalam memberikan penjelasan ilmiah (scientific explanation) merupakan salah satu keterampilan abad ke-21 yang penting untuk dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran yang inovatif. Namun, pembelajaran sains di Indonesia masih banyak berfokus pada hafalan konsep tanpa memberikan ruang bagi siswa untuk menghubungkan sains dengan kehidupan nyata. Salah satu pendekatan yang potensial adalah penggunaan model Learning Cycle 5E yang dikontekstualisasikan dengan Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI). Pendekatan ini memungkinkan siswa untuk melakukan penyelidikan berbasis bukti, menggunakan konsep-konsep sains, khususnya kimia, untuk menjelaskan isu-isu yang relevan dengan kehidupan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E berbasis SSI dalam melatih kemampuan scientific explanation siswa. Penelitian melibatkan 33 siswa di kelas eksperimen I, 33 siswa di kelas eksperimen II, dan 34 siswa di kelas kontrol. Keterampilan penjelasan ilmiah siswa dikategorikan menggunakan Taksonomi SOLO (Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome). Hasil investigasi menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan Learning Cycle 5E berbasis SSI lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan scientific explanation dibandingkan model Learning Cycle 5E tanpa konteks SSI maupun pembelajaran konvensional. Novelty dari penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi model Learning Cycle 5E dengan isu sosio-sains sebagai konteks pembelajaran, yang jarang dilakukan di pembelajaran kimia, sehingga dapat memberikan kontribusi baru terhadap praktik pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri dan konteks nyata.

Abstract

Penulisan artikel ilmiah berstandar jurnal nasional bereputasi sering kali menjadi tantangan bagi guru. Utamanya dalam konteks kesesuaian format, kualitas tulisan, dan kebaruan ide. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, pemanfaatan teknologi artificial intelliegence (AI) menawarkan solusi yang dapat menyelesaikannya. Tujuan pengabdian ini ialah untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah melalui Quillbot, sebuah alat berbasis AI yang dirancang untuk membantu melakukan paraphrase kalimat, perbaikan bahasa, dan peningkatan kualitas tulisan. Metode pelatihan melibatkan pendekatan berbasis praktik, dimana peserta dilatih untuk memanfaatkan fitur-fitur Quillbot yang sesuai dengan pedoman lembaga jurnal terakreditasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan menulis guru, dan lebih dari setengah guru mempunyai persepsi positif terhadap penggunaan Quillbot untuk membantu menulis artikel ilmiah, sehingga kedepannya persepsi ini diharapkan dapat dipertahankan dan kemampuannya dapat dipratikkan dalam proses penulisan artikel ilmiah. Dengan demikian, integrasi teknologi AI seperti Quillbot dalam pelatihan menulis artikel ilmiah berpotensi menjadi solusi efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas publikasi ilmiah guru di tingkat nasional.

Abstract

Scientific experiments provide numerous benefits for school students, including enhancing their understanding of scientific concepts through hands-on experiences. By engaging in experiments, students can develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis skills. This study aims to analyze the role of ChatGPT in relation to science practicum activities. The study employs a systematic literature review method using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework. Data sources consist of scientific journals that were identified, screened, and evaluated, resulting in only seven journals meeting the inclusion criteria. These journals were then reviewed through thematic analysis to outline the key findings from the analyzed publications. The results show that the majority of the reviewed articles (85.71%) were published in the Journal of Chemical Education, with a focus on the field of chemistry (85.71%), and 57.14% of the first authors originated from the United States. Two main research themes were identified in this field: ChatGPT as a tool to assist teachers in preparing practicum sessions and analyzing ChatGPT’s ability to generate reports. The study also highlights opportunities for further research on ChatGPT’s capability to analyze practicum reports and evaluate practicum worksheet responses. This study provides a foundation for future researchers to identify topics and research gaps in the field.

Abstract

Challenges in learning biology often arise, especially due to the complex nature of the material and requires a deep understanding of interrelated concepts. This causes many students to experience decreased motivation. The biology teacher of SMA NW Kopang keeps students motivated in learning. This study aims to understand the strategies applied by biology teachers at SMA NW Kopang in increasing students' learning motivation. This research uses a qualitative approach with the methods of observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research findings show that teachers use various strategies such as contextual learning, the use of educational technology, personalised approaches, as well as the insertion of ice breaking and rewards to create an interactive and relevant learning atmosphere. In addition, the integration of Islamic values in biology learning provides a moral dimension that strengthens the relationship between science and student character. Internal factors such as student interest and confidence, as well as external factors such as teacher support and learning environment, were found to have a significant influence on learning motivation. These strategies not only help students understand complex biological material, but also encourage their active involvement in learning. This research contributes to the development of learning methods that are innovative and relevant to students' needs, particularly in Islamic-based schools. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term impact of these strategies on students' learning outcomes across different educational contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the attitudes of pre-service elementary teachers in Indonesia toward artificial intelligence (AI) using Rasch model analysis. As future educators, their perceptions of AI are crucial for the successful integration of technology in educational practices. The research involved 244 participants from the Elementary Teacher Education program in West Sulawesi, Indonesia, selected based on inclusion criteria such as year of study and experience with AI applications in learning. The instrument, adapted with 12 items measuring positive attitudes toward AI, was validated through checks for reliability, item separation, fit statistics, and unidimensionality. Data were analyzed using WINSTEPS software to generate Wright maps and conduct Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis. Findings reveal that pre-service teachers generally demonstrate a moderate to high positive attitude toward AI, with higher-year students and those with more frequent AI usage exhibiting stronger positive attitudes. DIF analysis shows significant differences in item endorsement based on year of study and supported by one-way ANOVA results. These results suggest that greater exposure to AI correlates with more favorable attitudes. The study implies the need for structured AI integration in teacher education curricula to foster readiness and acceptance of AI in future teaching practices.

Abstract

Pengetahuan epistemik merupakan pemahaman mengenai hakikat sains yakni cara mengetahui sains, atau nilai-nilai dan keyakinan yang melekat pada pengembangan pengetahuan saintifik. Pengetahuan epistemik dapat dibelajarkan pada siswa menggunaka SSI sebagai konteks dalam pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan model learning cycle 5e berkonteks SSI dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan epistemik siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yakni quasi experiment posttest only control group design. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN di kota Malang. Sampel berjumlah 100 orang yang terdiri dari tiga kelas sampel yakni kelas eksperimen I yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model learning cycle 5E berkonteks SSI, kelas eksperimen II yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model learning cycle 5E, dan kelas kontrol yang dibelajarkan menngunakan model verifikasi. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik convenience sampling yakni berdasarkan ketersediaan kelas yang ada di sekolah tempat penelitian. Hasil pengujian dianalisis menggunakan analisis varian (ANOVA) pada taraf kepercayaan 95% (  dengan bantuan IBM SPSS Statistik. Dilakukan juga effect size yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebermaknaan perbedaan nilai rata-rata pengetahuan epistemik yang diukur pada masing-masing kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan model learning cycle 5E berkonteks SSI lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan epistemik.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming science education through virtual labs, intelligent tutoring, and adaptive assessments. However, pre-service teachers often lack formal training in AI integration. This study aims to validated the Artificial Intelligence Competence Self-Efficacy (AICS) instrument using Rasch model, covering AI knowledge (AIK), AI Pedagogy (AIP), AI Assessment (AIA), AI Ethics (AIE), Human-Centred Education (HCE), and Professional Engagement (PEN). This study used a quantitative survey with 338 third-year pre-service science teachers selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected via Google Forms where ethical considerations and back-translation ensured data integrity. Data were analyzed through reliability, separation, item fit statistics, unidimensionality and Differential Item Functioning (DIF). The findings indicate that the AICS instrument is psychometrically sound, with high reliability (person reliability = 0.94, item reliability = 0.95) and excellent separation indices. The Wright Map showed that item difficulty was well-aligned with participant ability, effectively capturing various levels of AI self-efficacy. Item fit statistics confirmed all items functioned within acceptable ranges, and unidimensionality analysis supported the measurement of a single, coherent construct. DIF analysis showed minimal gender bias, though one item (AIP1) favored males. Overall, the instrument is valid and reliable for being used to assess AI competence self-efficacy among pre-service science teachers.

Abstract

Program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) memberikan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk terlibat langsung dalam dunia pendidikan melalui kegiatan asistensi mengajar. Salah satu implementasinya adalah melatih jiwa wirausaha siswa dengan memanfaatkan limbah organik menjadi produk bernilai ekonomis. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melatih jiwa wirausaha siswa melalui praktik pemanfaatan limbah organik di MAN 2 Mataram. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah ceramah, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung. Kegiatan diawali dengan edukasi tentang limbah organik dan dilanjutkan dengan perencanaan pembuatan produk, serta praktik pengolahan limbah bonggol jagung menjadi camilan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa terlihat antusias dan mampu mempraktikkan proses pengolahan limbah dengan baik, serta menunjukkan kreativitas dalam menghasilkan produk. Program ini tidak hanya memberikan keterampilan teknis tetapi juga membentuk pola pikir kewirausahaan yang berwawasan lingkungan pada siswa. Dengan demikian, program asistensi mengajar dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif strategi pendidikan berbasis wirausaha yang ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Secondary metabolites from actinobacteria have been known to have many potentials as antioxidants, antibiotics, anti-cancer, and others. Various studies have been conducted and published regarding the findings of the potential of actinobacteria. This study aims to determine the development of research related to the potential of actinobacteria originating from mangrove areas and their secondary metabolites as natural antibiotics with bibliometric methods assisted by the VOS Viewer application. The articles used in this study are articles published from 2014 to 2024 and taken from the PubMed database. A total of 78 articles analyzed with VOS Viewer showed that over the past decade, the development of research on this topic still revolves around actinobacteria, microbial sensitivity tests, anti-bacterial agents, and Streptomyces as indicated by the high occurrence of these words in the titles and abstracts of the articles analyzed. The potential for research development can be directed at antineoplastic agents, cell proliferation, and mass spectrometry because the use of these terms is still minimal. However, analysis using other databases is needed as a comparison to get clearer results related to the development of research on the potential of actinobacteria derived from mangroves and their secondary metabolites as antibitoics.
