Abstract

Analytical thinking skills and problem-solving skills are important competencies that learners need to have in facing challenges in the 21st century. Analytical thinking skills enable learners to analyze information systematically and solve problems in a logical way. Similarly, problem-solving skills support learners in finding solutions to problems faced. This study aims to determine the initial portrait of analytical thinking skills and problem solving skills of students at Al-Madinah Junior High School in Tasikmalaya Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive with 99 respondents of class VIII students selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire with a Likert scale and analyzed using percentages. The results showed that the students' analytical thinking skills were in the insufficient criteria with an average percentage of 59.60%, while problem solving skills were also in the insufficient criteria with an average percentage of 59.94%. These findings indicate the need for further efforts to improve learners' analytical thinking and problem solving skills, such as the application of varied learning models that are in accordance with the needs of the 21st century. This research is expected to contribute to the development of more effective learning strategies to improve learners' analytical thinking and problem solving skills. ABSTRAKKeterampilan berpikir analitis dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah merupakan kompetensi penting yang perlu dimiliki oleh peserta didik dalam menghadapi tantangan di abad 21. Keterampilan berpikir analitis memungkinkan peserta didik untuk menganalisis informasi dengan sistematis dan memecahkan masalah dengan cara yang logis. Begitu pula, keterampilan pemecahan masalah mendukung peserta didik dalam menemukan solusi terhadap permasalahan yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potret awal keterampilan berpikir analitis dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah peserta didik di SMP Al-Madinah Kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan responden penelitian sebanyak 99 peserta didik kelas VIII yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dengan skala Likert dan dianalisis menggunakan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir analitis peserta didik berada pada kriteria kurang dengan rata-rata persentase 59,60%, sementara keterampilan pemecahan masalah juga berada pada kriteria kurang dengan rata-rata persentase 59,94%. Temuan ini menunjukkan perlunya upaya lebih lanjut untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir analitis dan pemecahan masalah peserta didik, seperti penerapan model pembelajaran yang bervariasi dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan abad 21. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir analitis dan pemecahan masalah peserta didik.

Abstract

The science learning at MTs N 2 Ciamis still uses separate teaching materials, where religious education focuses on religious topics, while science is limited to scientific material without integrating Islamic values. The lack of learning resources that combine both aspects causes difficulties for teachers in designing lessons that link religious and scientific aspects. This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the need for an IPA module integrated with Quranic verses on environmental pollution. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method with 20 students from class VIII-F Science at MTs Negeri 2 Ciamis in the 2024/2025 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 10 statements across 3 indicators. The results of the study show that all indicators were rated positively: 1) students' views on environmental pollution material reached 81%, categorized as good; 2) students' views on the connection between science material and Quranic verses were also good, at 80%; and 3) students' views on the need for an IPA learning module reached 85%, categorized as good. The conclusion of this study is that students need a learning module integrated with Quranic verses because this integrated learning approach is considered to make the learning process more relevant, effective, and meaningful. Integrating Quranic verses into science learning can create a deeper and more effective learning experience, especially on the topic of environmental pollution. This approach helps students understand concepts holistically, encompassing both scientific and spiritual aspects. ABSTRAKPembelajaran IPA di MTs N 2 Ciamis masih menggunakan bahan ajar terpisah, dimana mata pelajaran agama fokus pada topik keagamaan, sedangkan IPA terbatas pada materi sains tanpa integrasi nilai-nilai Islam. Keterbatasan sumber belajar yang menggabungkan keduanya menyebabkan kesulitan bagi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang menghubungkan aspek keagamaan dan ilmiah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis persepsi siswa terhadap kebutuhan modul IPA terintegrasi ayat Al-Qur'an pada pencemaran lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan subjek sebanyak 20 siswa kelas VIII-F Sains di MTs Negeri 2 Ciamis tahun ajaran 2024/2025, yang ditentukan melalui teknik purposive sampling. Data diperoleh melalui pengisian angket yang berisi 10 pernyataan dalam 3 indikator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan baik pada semua indikator, yaitu: 1) pandangan siswa terhadap materi pencemaran lingkungan sebesar 81% sehingga berkategori baik, 2) pandangan siswa terhadap keterkaitan materi IPA dengan ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an juga baik yaitu sebesar 80%, dan 3) pandangan siswa terhadap kebutuhan modul pembelajaran IPA sebesar 85% berkategori baik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah siswa membutuhkan modul pembelajaran yang terintegrasi ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an, karena pembelajaran yang terintegrasi ini dinilai mampu membuat proses belajar lebih relevan, efektif, dan bermakna. Pengintegrasian ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an dalam pembelajaran IPA dapat menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih mendalam dan efektif, khususnya pada materi pencemaran lingkungan. Pendekatan ini memudahkan siswa untuk memahami konsep secara holistik, yang meliputi aspek ilmiah dan spiritual.

Abstract

Kemampuan kognitif siswa pada materi perubahan lingkungan merupakan salah satu indikator penting dalam menilai kualitas pembelajaran biologi di sekolah. Namun, berbagai laporan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa masih belum berkembang secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil kemampuan kognitif siswa SMA pada materi perubahan lingkungan berdasarkan taksonomi Bloom revisi. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 36 siswa kelas XI di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Tasikmalaya yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes esai yang dikembangkan berdasarkan enam dimensi proses kognitif, yaitu mengingat, memahami, menerapkan, menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan mencipta. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif menggunakan persentase capaian setiap indikator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan kognitif siswa sebesar 50,46 persen berada pada kategori cukup. Capaian tertinggi terdapat pada indikator mengingat, sedangkan capaian terendah terdapat pada indikator mengevaluasi dan mencipta. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan kognitif siswa masih didominasi oleh kemampuan berpikir dasar dan belum berkembang optimal pada kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Penelitian selanjutnya direkomendasikan untuk melibatkan sampel yang lebih luas serta menggunakan desain kuasi-eksperimental guna menguji efektivitas strategi atau media pembelajaran inovatif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan analisis, evaluasi, dan kreasi siswa secara lebih komprehensif.

Abstract

Reflective thinking constitutes a critical 21st-century competency aligned with the demands of Society 5.0 and the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study maps the reflective thinking profile of 31 ninth-grade students at SMPN 2 Singaparna on the topic of the human reproductive system through a quantitative descriptive analysis using the Reflective Thinking Questionnaire (RTQ) adapted from Kember et al. (2000). The results indicate an overall mean score of 3.54 (moderate category), with habitual action as the lowest dimension, understanding and reflection categorized as high, and critical reflection as moderate. These findings underscore the necessity of instructional strategies that integrate reflection at every stage of the learning process. The study recommends the development of a Problem-Based Learning model grounded in a deep learning approach as an alternative to strengthen junior high school students’ critical and reflective thinking skills.

Abstract

The field of education has undergone various innovations & significant changes with the advent of Information & Communication Technology (ICT), offering numerous benefits for both teachers and students. However, there is concern that students’ attention in class may decline due to a lack of engaging elements in learning. Therefore, the implementation of game-based learning(GBL) appears effective in helping students improve problem-solving skills in both cognitive & behavioural domains. This study proposes the development & design of a game-based learning, tool on the topic of population dynamics, referred to as the Rabbit Population Dynamic (RPD). The methodology used in this is research & development which adopts the ADDIE development model to design RPD applications integrated with the Merrill learning principles model. The feasibility of this learning medium was based on the results of product validation as a learning medium, content validation, & small group trials with 13 university students. The findings indicate a product validation percentage as a learning medium of 87.90% (highly feasible), content validation of 93.90% (highly feasible), & small group trial results of 87.27% (highly feasible). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that this learning medium is highly feasible for implementation in subtopic of population dynamic.

Abstract

This study presents a natural laboratory model based on local wisdom to improve disaster literacy, drawing on the indigenous knowledge of Kampung Naga and Kampung Kuta in West Java, Indonesia. By integrating traditional disaster mitigation practices, such as Ngasuh Lembur and Sedekah Bumi, with modern tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the research offers a culturally tailored disaster education framework. The model, tested by 120 Geography Education students at Universitas Siliwangi, demonstrated a 32% improvement in students' understanding of disaster risks. The synergy between cultural traditions and modern techniques fostered stronger engagement and deeper retention of disaster preparedness knowledge. Feedback highlighted the importance of balancing cultural authenticity with technological innovation, leading to refinements that enhanced both relevance and effectiveness. This study addresses a critical gap in disaster education by offering a sustainable, adaptable framework that bridges local wisdom and formal education, making it applicable across diverse cultural and environmental settings globally.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of integrating the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with an ecosystem balance simulation game in enhancing senior high school students’ critical thinking skills. A quasi-experimental method with a matching-only posttest-only control group design was employed, involving 90 purposively selected students divided into three groups. The critical thinking instrument consisted of 12 validated essay items. Data analysis included the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, and ANOVA followed by the LSD post hoc test. The results indicate a significant difference among the groups (Sig. = 0.019), with post hoc analysis showing that the experimental group performed significantly better than the conventional group, but did not differ significantly from the PBL-only group. These findings suggest that integrating simulation games into the PBL framework is associated with improved critical thinking outcomes compared to conventional instruction, while yielding results comparable to PBL without simulation support. This indicates that simulation-based PBL may serve as a complementary instructional approach that supports student engagement and conceptual understanding. The study’s implications highlight the importance of integrating interactive digital media in ecology instruction to support the development of students’ 21st-century competencies.
