Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many students who are less active in the learning process and still have difficulty answering the questions given by the teacher. The purpose of this study is to determine the application of the Mind Mapping learning model to improve students' Mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII-1 circle material of MTs Ja'fariyah Hutaibus. This research is a Classroom Action Research conducted using two Cycles, namely Cycle I with two Meetings and Cycle II with one Meeting. The instruments used are observations and tests in the form of test essays. The subject of this study was students in class VIII-1 MTs Ja'fariyah Hutaibus consisting of 27 students. The results of this study show that students’ learning outcomes are improving. It  can be seen from the scores and activities of students starting from pretests with a percentage of student completion of 19% (5 out of 27 students) with a grade point average of 48.33, Cycle I: 1st Meeting , percentage of completeness of sisiwa 52% (14 out of 27 people) with an average score of 78.81, Cycle I: 2nd Meeting, percentage of student completion 74% (21 out of 27 people) with an average score of 86.11 and Cycle II, 1st Meeting,  The percentage of student completion was 89% (24 out of 27 people) with an average score of 88.51. This shows that the application of the Mind Mapping learning model can improve mathematics learning outcomes for grade VIII-1 MTs Ja'fariyah Hutaibus students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the continuous professional development of mathematics teachers at SMPN 6 Panyabungan which includes aspects of self-development, scientific publications, and innovation works. The data collection method used consisted of observation, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative analysis method which aims to describe how the continuous professional development of mathematics teachers at SMP Negeri 6 Panyabungan and how to deal with problems faced in carrying out continuous professional development of mathematics teachers. The results of the study concluded that in carrying out the Continuing Professional Development (PKB) mathematics teachers there were several problems, namely the lack of a given quota, ignorance of Continuing Professional Development (PKB) and the lack of a teacher's intention to participate in Continuing Professional Development (PKB).

Abstract

Various external and internal factors influence student achievement. This study aimed to determine the effect of parental attention and learning motivation on students’ mathematics learning achievement both partially and simultaneously. This research is quantitative research with an ex-post-facto approach. The population of this study was 260 eleventh-grade students in one of the Islamic senior high schools in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatera. The sample was 60 students chosen by cluster sampling. The data on parental attention and student learning motivation were collected using questionnaires and documentation, while data analysis was using the regression analysis method. The results showed that there was a significant effect of parental attention and learning motivation on students' mathematics learning achievement partially and simultaneously. Therefore, parents need to pay attention to their children's learning needs and control their activities outside school to improve student learning achievement. In addition, teachers need to apply suitable learning methods to increase student motivation.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana keterampilan mengajar mahasiswa Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan IAIN Padangsidimpuan di MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Sumber data yang dibutuhkan yaitu seluruh guru pamong dan wakil kepala sekolah bagian kurikulum. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa Keterampilan Mengajar Mahasiswa Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan IAIN Padangsidimpuan di MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan sudah terlaksana dengan baik. Namun, masih perlu adanya peningkatan dari setiap komponen keterampilan mengajar, seperti keterampilan membuka dan menutup pelajaran, keterampilan menjelaskan, keterampilan bertanya, keterampilan mengadakan variasi, keterampilan memberikan penguatan, keterampilan mengelola kelas, keterampilan mengajar kelompok kecil dan perseorangan, dan keterampilan memimpin diskusi kelompok kecil. Agar setiap keterampilan mengajar dapat dikuasai dengan baik oleh setiap mahasiswa PPL sebagai calon guru yang profesional.

Abstract

This research was conducted at Mathematics Education Study Program at Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculties of IAIN Padangsidimpuan at the third semester 2018-2019 academic year. Research method used is quantitative method with bivariate comparative analysis approach aiming to find out the significant differences in students' mathematical communication skills in statistical subjects. The design of this research is a one short case study  comparing the result of two treatments after the post tests. The research was conducted in one classroom, in which one treatment preceding the other treatment with different materials yet contain similar components and difficulties. The result of the research shows that there is significant difference in ability of mathematical communication between problem based learning and project based learning with tcount > ttable: 3,673 > 2,042; in which PjBL is higher than PBL.  In conclusion, PjBL is significantly better than PBL in term of students’ ability in mathematical communication

Abstract

Teachers and students alike must avoid misconceptions when studying. The actual condition shows that there are still many students who still experience misconceptions, one of which is about mathematics. But in reality it shows that there are still many students who still experience wrong concepts, one of which is regarding learning mathematics. With the ultimate aim of addressing these issues and making classroom learning more effective, Practical Science Training (RME) is used for the learning approach. The purpose of this study was to develop teaching materials using the PMRI method and assess whether the RME method worked to eliminate students' mathematical misconceptions about fractions. The purpose of this study was to see whether students' misconceptions about fraction material in Class III SD Negeri 100316 Pargarutan Julu could be corrected through learning mathematics. The population in this study amounted to 42 people. Qualitative data analysis was used in conjunction with observation, interviews, questionnaires, administration of achievement tests, and discussions with subject teachers for data collection. The results showed that (1) in the first cycle the application of Realistic Mathematics Learning increased to 70.55% which was classified as sufficient and (2) in the second cycle it increased to 85.60% which was classified as satisfactory. The conclusion of the study was that third grade students at SD Negeri 100316 Pargarutan Julu increased the material for fractional operations in Realistic Mathematics Learning.

Abstract

The general aim of implementing the educational unit level curriculum is to make educational units independent and empowered by granting authority to educational institutions and encouraging schools to make participatory decisions in developing the curriculum. Most elementary school teachers often fail to complete the material satisfactorily. After carrying out initial learning at the author's place of teaching at SD Negeri I Padangsidimpuan City class V, they experienced failure in completing with the following results: There were 14 students who got a score of less than 75 or 66.7% with a KKM of 75. Those who got a score of 75 or more there were 7 students or 33.3% with a KKM of 75. In this lesson the researcher carried out activities in accordance with the lesson implementation plan. At first the students looked active and enthusiastic, but when asked to do practice questions they were still confused about how to do it. After researchers analyzed the results of student work (formative tests) in initial learning, it was found that students did not understand the material. Of the 21 students who got a score above the KKM (75), only 7 students or 33.33%. With an average score of 60.0

Abstract

This research aims to increase students' interest in science subjects regarding Energy and its use in utilizing natural resources, describing the use of concrete props in the science learning process to increase activeness and creativity in learningencourage students to think critically in Energy material and its use in utilizing natural resources and their solutions. From the results of this research, it is hoped that it can provide benefits in improving student learning outcomes optimally, increasing students' interest and motivation in quality science lessons which are considered difficult, increasing understanding of concepts, because students learn directly about themincreasing teacher creativity in carrying out the learning process, helping teachers develop their teaching abilities professionally, growing and increasing self-confidence, advancing school institutions as seen from increasing teacher professionalism in the learning processimproving and enhancing the learning process and outcomes of transfer students, creating a conducive school education situation. In the process of learning science for class IV on the subject of economic activities in Indonesia, the results of observations from colleagues, suggestions from supervisors, the author needs to carry out improvements to the learning of Natural Sciences (Science) subjects on the subject of energy sources and their use in the classroom IV (four). There were 20 students (71.43%) out of 28 students who had not met the KKM/score less than 75.in implementing learning improvements in Natural Sciences (Science) subjects starting from cycle I, it has shown an increase in students'mastery of the material with 15 students achieving completeness out of 28 students with an average score of 72.86.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to develop a mathematics learning strategy module to enhance students' motivation and higher-order thinking skills using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) framework within the Research and Development (R&D) paradigm. Conducted during the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, it involved fourth-semester students in the Mathematics Education Program at UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, tests, and expert validation. Instruments included a module validation sheet, a learning motivation questionnaire, and a higher-order thinking skills test. Data were analyzed using the Paired Samples Test. Results showed the module was well-implemented, with validation scores of 87.86% and 86.01%, categorized as "good." The module effectively improved students' motivation and higher-order thinking skills, with pretest and posttest scores of 52.38 and 79.19 (motivation) and 72.81 and 79.75 (higher-order thinking skills), both with significant improvements (sig. 0.000 < 0.05). This research recommends further implementation and development of the module using the ADDIE framework for enhancing mathematics learning strategies.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul strategi pembelajaran matematika guna meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa menggunakan kerangka ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) dalam paradigma Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D). Penelitian dilakukan pada semester genap tahun akademik 2022/2023 dengan melibatkan mahasiswa semester empat Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika di UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan. Data kuantitatif dan kualitatif dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, kuesioner, tes, dan validasi ahli. Instrumen yang digunakan termasuk lembar validasi modul, kuesioner motivasi belajar, dan tes keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Data dianalisis menggunakan Uji Sampel Berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul diimplementasikan dengan baik, dengan skor validasi 87,86% dan 86,01% dalam kategori "baik". Modul ini efektif meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa, dengan skor pretest dan posttest masing-masing 52,38 dan 79,19 (motivasi) serta 72,81 dan 79,75 (keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi), keduanya menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan (sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Abstract

The Realistic Mathematics Education approach emphasizes understanding concepts through the context of everyday life, while conventional methods can provide a solid foundation in mathematical concepts. Therefore, teachers use conventional and realistic methods in teaching mathematics to improve student learning outcomes. Comparative analysis is the research method used in this study. The purpose of the Comparative Study between Realistic Mathematics Learning and Conventional Methods in Improving Students' Understanding of Mathematics Concepts is to compare how well the two approaches, realistic mathematics learning and conventional methods, in improving students' understanding of mathematics concepts. This research aims to find out whether the conventional approach or the Realistic Mathematics learning method is more effective in helping students understand mathematical concepts. It is expected that the information or data obtained from this research can provide an overview of learning strategies that are more effective in improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The final result of this research is expected to provide important data related to learning strategies that are more feasible to help students in understanding numerical ideas. The results of this study will have a significant impact on the development of more efficient methods for teaching mathematics in the classroom.
