Abstract

Indonesia is one of the world's leading cassava producers, and Lampung Province is the main producer. Efforts to increase cassava production must be accompanied by good farming activities that link to a complete agribusiness system. This study aims to analyze the divergence effect of cassava competitiveness as an effect of government policies and market failure in South Lampung. This study was conducted using a survey method. The number of respondents was 64 cassava farmers, 8 cassava collectors, and 1 tapioca industry. Data collection was carried out in August-September 2022. This study uses PAM (Policy Analysis Matrix) to analyze the competitiveness and the divergence effect and market structure analysis to analyze the market failure. The result showed that there is a market failure of cassava because the market structure is not perfectly competitive (oligopsony). Therefore, the divergence effect of cassava did not reach the target because it caused the transfer of inputs prices from traders to farmers due to the fertilizer subsidy and the transfer of income from consumers to farmers due to the determination of cassava minimum price (Rp900/kg). However, cassava farming has a competitiveness with the value of comparative advantage (DRCR = 0.3091) which is smaller than the value of competitive advantage (PCR = 0.5865). The changes from comparative to competitive advantage require government policies to control market failure and to reduce the high transaction cost economy. Abstract

AbstractLocal food is a potential commodity in food consumption diversification. Tapioca vermicelli and “siger” rice are two local foods developed in Lampung Province. However, these products have not brought any contribution to the community's food consumption pattern. The objective of this study is to analyze the choice pattern and any factors relating to the choice of tapioca vermicelli and “siger” rice. This research used a quantitative research approach with a survey method. It was conducted in Metro City and Pringsewu Regency with a sample of 110 households. The analysis of Chi-Square descriptive statistics and correlation was used to analyze the data. The results of the research found that tapioca vermicelli is quite popular (widely chosen) by the families living around the agroindustrial area of Metro City. However, “siger” rice is not widely used by people in this location. Tapioca vermicelli is consumed more often with meatballs in a medium frequency and total consumption of 45.33 grams/ household/day. “Siger” rice is consumed as a variation with rare consumption, and its average consumption amount is 9.34 grams/household/day. Any variables related to vermicelli tapioca choice are knowledge level on food diversification, education level, age, household income and knowledge level on nutrition. Whereas, any factors related to “siger” rice choice are product identification, knowledge of food diversification and accessibility. Keywords: food choice patterns, local food, “siger” rice, tapioca vermicelli

Abstract

Cooperatives can potentially have a broad impact on the economic order. The success of cooperatives can benefit members, the surrounding environment, and even the broader scope. The agricultural sector is the third largest number of cooperatives in Lampung Province. This research aimed to analyze the factors that affect cooperative business volume, and net income (SHU) of agricultural sector cooperatives in Lampung Province. The number of samples in this study was 33 cooperatives. The samples are cooperatives that run agricultural related businesses and cooperatives whose members are agricultural business actors in Lampung Province. The multiple linear regression was used to analyze factors that influenced the business volume and the net income (SHU). It was found the number of members and business units have a negative effect on business volume, while capital and loan capital have a positive effect on business volume. At the same time, the variables of managers' availability and the chairman's education level do not affect the business volume of agricultural sector cooperatives in Lampung Province. Self-capital, loan capital, and the chairman's high level of education have a positive effect on business rest, and the number of members and business units have a negative effect on the net income (SHU). In contrast, the manager availability and the chairman’s education level at imtermediate and low levels have no effect on the net income (SHU) of agricultural sector cooperatives in Lampung Province. Keywords: agricultural cooperatives, business volume, net income (SHU)

Abstract

TThis research aims to comprehensively assess the production facilities, production performance, operating income, the marketing mix, supporting services, and strategy development within Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the pastry and bakery industry. The study includes 41 respondents, comprising business owners, seven employees, 30 consumers, and three expert chefs in the pastry and bakery field. A mixed-method approach, combining descriptive qualitative and quantitative analyses, was employed. The research involved both qualitative exploration of respondents' perceptions and quantitative measurements of production performance and marketing effectiveness. Findings revealed satisfactory product quality, yielding profitable results from an average daily production of 100 bread loaves and 32 cakes. While the overall marketing mix was effective, the promotional aspect was identified as an area requiring enhancement. Supporting services were underutilized, suggesting opportunities for improvement, particularly in optimizing raw material utilization to heighten productivity and income while ensuring superior product quality. The study underscores the need for strategic enhancements in promotional efforts and the maximization of supporting services to align with the already satisfactory product quality. Furthermore, it emphasizes the significance of leveraging raw materials effectively to augment productivity and profitability in the SMEs pastry and bakery sector. Enhancing promotional strategies and optimizing supporting services are crucial for SMEs in the pastry and bakery industry to strengthen market positioning. Abstract

Food security has clear goals and impacts on efforts to improve nutrition and improve community welfare.  To achieve this, diversification of food consumption plays an important role. Diversification of food consumption has a role in efforts to improve nutrition and to obtain quality human beings and reduce dependence on certain commodities. However, consumption pattern is different to each household depending on its income levels. The majority of household welfare levels in Lampung Province are categorized as pre-prosperous households. The economic situation (income) of pre-prosperous households can affect the food choice. If the food choice is inappropriate, the fulfillment of nutritional quality is not optimal and can affect the quality of human resources. As a result, research on this topic was critical, particularly in lower middle-class households especially pre-prosperous households. The goal of this study was to examine the amount of consumption diversification and its determinants among the pre-prosperous households. Secondary data from the 2019 SUSENAS raw data were used in this investigation. This survey included 2,792 households as samples. The Berry Index was employed to quantify the diversity of food consumption, and binary logistic regression analysis was performed to study its determinants. The amount of food consumption diversity among pre-prosperous households in Lampung Province was moderate. The Berry Index had an average value of 0.827. Household income, education of the head of the household, education of the mother, gender of the head of the household, and type of region all had a positive effect on household food consumption diversity, whereas the number of household members had a negative effect.  Based on these results, comprehensive policies are needed with clear targets and programs that contribute to increasing employment opportunities and income so that family consumption is more diverse and of high quality.  In addition, it is also necessary to increase the contribution of education both through formal and non-formal education, and promotion in the implementation of counseling or socialization on diversification of food consumption.

Abstract

The Fruit Processing Industry is a food manufacturer that uses fresh fruit as raw materials to produce products such as jackfruit chips and banana chips. The rapid development of technology has pioneered the online marketing of products. The objective of this study is to compare the purchasing decisions of offline and online consumers in the Fruit Processing Industry in Bandar Lampung City in 2023. The respondents in this study consist of 30 offline consumers and 30 online consumers. Data collection was conducted from February to March 2023. The analysis method used is the 4P marketing mix analysis (product, price, place, and promotion) followed by the Mann-Whitney test. The results indicate that the average variable for offline and online consumers falls into the good category with a percentage of 78.08 percent and 79.85 percent respectively. The Mann-Whitney test results show no significant differences in consumer decision-making between online and offline channels concerning price and promotion. In contrast, significant differences exist for product and place, underscoring their influence on purchasing behavior. Based on the research findings, to balance purchasing decisions between offline and online, it is recommended that the small Fruit Processing Industry in Bandar Lampung City add special discounts or prices for purchases on certain days and adjust promotions to current trends to increase sales.
