Abstract

This study explores the efficacy of interactive gamification through Wordwall Apps in enhancing literary comprehension and student engagement in educational settings. The aim is to determine whether gamification techniques with Wordwall Apps can significantly improve literary learning outcomes compared to traditional teaching methods. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, the research involved control and experimental groups from a sample of high school students, where the latter engaged in gamified learning activitie with Wordwall s. The findings reveal that Wordwall gamification markedly increases student engagement and deepens literary comprehension, as evidenced by higher post-test scores in the experimental group compared to the control. These results suggest that interactive gamification not only makes learning more enjoyable but also more effective, encouraging a deeper interaction with literary content.

Abstract

The research is motivated by the students' low interest and limited vocabulary acquisition in Arabic, which are attributed to unengaging teaching methods and the minimal use of instructional media. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using puzzle-based media in improving Arabic vocabulary mastery among fourth-grade students at MIN 1 Probolinggo. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the implementation of puzzle media in Arabic instruction significantly enhances students’ vocabulary acquisition. The students demonstrated increased enthusiasm, active participation, and improved retention of new vocabulary due to the enjoyable and interactive nature of the learning process. Furthermore, the classroom environment became more conducive and collaborative, fostering student engagement in questioning and discussion. Thus, puzzle media is proven to be an effective alternative instructional tool for enhancing Arabic vocabulary mastery at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi metode role play dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara (maharah al-kalam) dan kepercayaan diri peserta didik di Lembaga Pengembangan Bahasa Asing (LPBA) Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini menggunakan desain studi kasus dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa implementasi role play di LPBA dilakukan melalui skenario situasional yang relevan dengan kehidupan pesantren, yang secara spesifik meningkatkan durasi dan kelancaran berbicara santri dari sekadar menjawab singkat menjadi kemampuan membangun dialog spontan tanpa teks. Data lapangan menunjukkan adanya reduksi kecemasan berbahasa (language anxiety), di mana peserta didik yang sebelumnya pasif mulai berani mengambil peran sentral dalam pertunjukan drama bahasa Arab. Meskipun terdapat kendala berupa keterbatasan kosakata dan hambatan menghafal, strategi muwaajahah (pendampingan intensif) dan praktik al-isytiraak (kolaborasi peran) terbukti efektif mengatasinya. Dengan demikian, metode role play memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam mentransformasi mentalitas santri dari "penerima bahasa" menjadi "pengguna bahasa" yang percaya diri, sekaligus memberikan model pedagogi bahasa yang adaptif bagi lingkungan pesantren.
