Abstract

This article incorporate globalization issue in advertising industry in Indonesia, particulary in discussing the presence of dultural identity in global world context. The finding abaout the modus of advertising strategy gives comprehension on how commercial advertisement communicate the identitiy they were offered. Identitiy works in many patterns those used product figure, verbal language and visual symbol. The existence of mixed identity as it appears in global products those try to use local element in their advertising while some local products do the contrary-show that identities srocc reference had happened in advertising world.Keyword : identity, globalization, advertisement

Abstract

This study aims to design a brand identity of batik with vernacular typography. Vernacular typographyis typography with daily life character that is familiar with the activities of local community.Vernacular typography is used in this study because the types that are created by the previous researchdo not meet the needs of the product owners at batik center in Bayat, Klaten District. Themethod used is descriptive qualitative research to find qualitative data that is used as the base of thevernacular typography creating through the design process which is divided into four stages. Thestages covers assimilation, such as the collection and arrangement of information problem that isbeing studied; general studies, such as investigating the characteristics of the problem and possiblesolutions as well as tools and support materials; developing, creating and modifying; communicationconcerning the creative presentation of one or more solutions to the people inside and outside of theresearch team. Small scale industries such as batik center Bayat have disadvantages in accessingcreative sources because of the limited capital and opportunity. Therefore, this study becomes a helpfulthing in designing the brand identity for small industries. The results obtained include vernaculartypography design that is traced from the surrounding environment so that they produce specialtypefaces for example typographic style of batik motif, street-style typography, typographic styleengraving, handwriting-style typography, and free-style typography. Typographies that are generatedsubsequently applied in developing batik brand identity. Keywords: Typography, vernacular, brand, batik

Abstract

The rapid pace of technology in the 4.0 era constructs conventional transaction models into digital transactions with the growth of various digital startups. The use of digitalization for folk performing arts is still not maximally accommodated, even though the internet has spread to villages. Although various conceptions and discourses on the digitization of folk performing arts continue to roll out, they are only carried out by academics and only a small part of the performing arts community is able to utilize the internet and gadgets for means of communication and interaction with a wide audience. This study shows the utilization of digital internet technology that has changed the pattern of face to face interaction to screen to face through the digital application Senipedia.com as one of the start-ups engaged in the realm of folk performing arts development in Indonesia. The various benefits of marketing through the Senipedia.com digital application are becoming a meeting place for all groups to form the habit of assessing and being judged virtually, preserving cultural heritage and historical values that are useful in the future, and becoming an archive that can be reused as educational material that contains values of mutual cooperation, a sense of independence, freedom of expression, and the formation of mutual appreciation of folk performing arts through the digital-virtual world.

Abstract

Indonesian animation lack in using the potential of local culture is the basic reality for this artistic research. The animation creation that refering on the characteristics of traditional performing arts is the focus. This study uses an pratice-based research. Research procedures conducted in two phases, namely analysis and development/implementation. Analysis involves identifying and studing the research object (puppet motion as a reference) and the creation of animated cartoon films. The results of this artistic research showed that a) Elements such shadow puppets (Wayang Kulit) and Wayang Beber typical with their decorative can be applied in character and environment visualization, and provide imaginative effects, b) Movement shadow puppets have a body language that can be used as a reference animated cartoon motion c) the philosophy and meaning in shadow puppets movement is applied to the animated film that can make an animated cartoon has special characteristics and different from Western animation principles, and d) Performance of narrative animation that refers to Dalang’s narratives in shadow puppets making movies more typical Indonesian animation.keyword: film, cartoon, animation, tradition

In the advertising industry, the workers have to birth the interesting and fresh ideas in order to communicate the products. The interesting and fresh ideas need the highly creativity. The need to be a high creative creator causes the idea that is differently anyway and irrelevant with the characteristic of the products. Visual signing at advertisement is a meaning attaching effort, considering almost all of the advertised products did not have specific value. A number of products can be replaced by other brand within same category. Usually, in marketing communications world, this kind of product has a lot of competitors. Having no differentiation causing the product has no meaning in the consumers’ mind. Abstract

The hardcore genre musician identical to muscular and tattooed body, violence, and they are familiar with alcohol or drugs. It blurs social messages are actually owned by many hardcore music. Through the concept of compositing editing techniques, in particular the incorporation of some elements of video, graphic design, and photography, editors emphasize the visual aspects of the slide motion graphics and special effects that direct imaging to reconstruct the audience to the perceptions of the creator or a singer. Two music videos of the band Spirit of Life, entitled Life Change for Me dan StopTalking Start Working, a musical genre that worked in the hardcore music video to be accepted by society. Music video works it is appropriate to visualize social development as informative and educative character. Through audio-visual artwork hardcore music can be seen as the music that gave social messages.Keywords : hardcore, video, music, compositing, genre, and reconstruction.

Abstract

Desa Wisata Jarum merupakan salah satu desa wisata yang terletak di Kecamatan Bayat, Kabupaten Klaten, dengan potensi utama yaitu kerajinan batik batik tulis warna alam, dilengkapi dengan atraksi seni budaya, festival batik setiap tahunya dan alam pedesaan yang masih terjaga. Akan tetapi potensi-potensi wisata yang dimiliki belum dikenal oleh masyarakat luas. Gagasan penciptaan perancangan ini adalah merancang identitas visual yang sesuai dengan karakter dan potensi desa untuk meningkatkan citra desa wisata  dan diperlukanya promosi Desa Wisata Jarum yang efektif, efisien, serta sesuai target audince untuk meningkatkan daya tarik wisatawan dan manfaat ekonomis bagi masyarakat Desa Jarum maupun disekitarnya. Metode analisis data pada perancangan ini menggunakan analisis SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, dan Threat). Metode SWOT digunakan untuk mengetahui apa kekuatan, kelemahan, kesempatan, dan ancaman yang terdapat pada Desa Wisata Jarum. Proses penciptaan identitas visual dan promosinya dibagi menjadi empat tahap, yaitu eksplorasi, eksperimentasi, perwujudan, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari perancangan ini berupa identitas visual Desa Wisata Jarum, yaitu : Logo, Tagline, dan aplikasi logo di media statinonery (Kartunama, Kop surat, stempel, nota) kemasan, baju seragam dan merchandise (Kalender dan gantungan kunci). Serta Media promosi yang dihasilkan yaitu website, media sosial,  flyer, billboard, poter, transid ad dan majalah. Manfaat dari perancangan ini adalah mampu memberikan identitas visual yang menggambarkan potensi-potensi yang dimiliki oleh Desa Wisata Jarum dan media promosi yang sesuai dengan taregt audience , promosi yang diciptakan diharapkan mampu menarik wisatawan, sehingga bisa meningkatkan pariwisata

Abstract

The existence of the Surakarya Handlettering Community in Surakarta. This community is a learning group to write handlettering art in Surakarta, which was formed in 2014, where currently dozens of members have joined who have creativity and expertise in the art of handlettering. This research uses descriptive qualitative method which aims to examine how the role of the Surakarya Community in the development of handlettering in Surakarta and how to develop the style and work of handlettering in Surakarta. Data analysis was carried out by interviewing several community members, direct observation by means of observation and making a questionnaire, and documenting community activities in the form of pen meet-ups. This research found that the existence of communities in popularizing the arts of handlettering and calligraphy was formed through two aspects, namely the role through several internal and external activities such as exhibitions, belcor (belmen corner), pen meet up, ngangsu kaweruh and lettering camp. The second aspect is in the form of alternative styles and handlettering works that have been developed covering 7 (seven), namely: decorative lettering, script lettering, chalk lettering, watercolor lettering, calligraphy brushes, modern calligraphy and calligraphy blackletter. The art of handlettering is in the form of murals that decorate several cafes and corners of the city of Surakarta, besides the work of the Surakarya community which is applied in the form of media such as helmets, tote bags, packaging, pillow covers and t-shirts. For the Surakarya community in the future it will be more developed and promote the community in cultivating the arts of handlettering and calligraphy both at the local and national levels.
