Abstract

The existence of the Surakarya Handlettering Community in Surakarta. This community is a learning group to write handlettering art in Surakarta, which was formed in 2014, where currently dozens of members have joined who have creativity and expertise in the art of handlettering. This research uses descriptive qualitative method which aims to examine how the role of the Surakarya Community in the development of handlettering in Surakarta and how to develop the style and work of handlettering in Surakarta. Data analysis was carried out by interviewing several community members, direct observation by means of observation and making a questionnaire, and documenting community activities in the form of pen meet-ups. This research found that the existence of communities in popularizing the arts of handlettering and calligraphy was formed through two aspects, namely the role through several internal and external activities such as exhibitions, belcor (belmen corner), pen meet up, ngangsu kaweruh and lettering camp. The second aspect is in the form of alternative styles and handlettering works that have been developed covering 7 (seven), namely: decorative lettering, script lettering, chalk lettering, watercolor lettering, calligraphy brushes, modern calligraphy and calligraphy blackletter. The art of handlettering is in the form of murals that decorate several cafes and corners of the city of Surakarta, besides the work of the Surakarya community which is applied in the form of media such as helmets, tote bags, packaging, pillow covers and t-shirts. For the Surakarya community in the future it will be more developed and promote the community in cultivating the arts of handlettering and calligraphy both at the local and national levels.

Abstract

                                                                                                              Plastik merupakan komponen yang tidak dapat lepas dari kegiatan sehari-hari setiap manusia karena plastik memiliki sifat yang tidak mudah rusak. Hal ini menyebabkan meningkatnya produksi plastik yang mengakibatkan peningkatan jumlah sampah plastik yang dihasilkan dari tahun ke tahun. Diperlukan kampanye sosial yang dapat menyadarkan dan mengedukasi masyarakat tentang bahaya dan dampak penggunaan plastik sekali pakai, selain itu diperlukan iklan kampanye sosial yang optimal agar dapat menyadarkan masyarakat untuk memanejemen sampah plastik salah satunya dengan cara menumbuhkan perilaku mengurangi dan  kesadaran untuk mengelola plastik sekali pakai agar tidak menjadi sampah/limbah plastik. Perancangan kampanye menggunakan metode pengumpulan data, metode analisis data, kemudian menggunakan metode perancangan desain. Media kampanye berupa poster, infografis, media offline (poster, majalah, mural, digital ad), media online (instagram, facebook, press release), dan media pendukung merchandise (buku agenda, t-shirt, totebag, sikat gigi kayu, sedotan stainless stell, tumbler, sabun batang, cup portable, set alat makan dan lunch box). Kampanye ini diharapkan dapat menjadi media yang dapat membantu menyadarkan betapa pentingnya kesadaran untuk peduli terhadap sampah plastik

Abstract

                                                                                                              Artefak visual berupa aksara Jawa di Pura Mangkunegaran merupakan warisan visual Nusantara yang berharga keberadaannya. Dari sekian banyak artefak, naskah adalah salah satu jenis yang terbanyak. Keberadaannya tersimpan di Perpustakaan Reksa Pustaka. Artefak tipografi tersebut sudah selayaknya diangkat kembali untuk digunakan agar keberadaan aksara Jawa tetap lestari serta menjadi peneguh identitas Pura Mangkunegaran sebagai salah satu pusat peradaban Jawa.Tujuanpenelitianiniuntukmerancang rupa huruf aksara Jawa yang khas berdasarkan temuan aksara di Pura Mangkunegaran untuk selanjutnya diimplementasikan dalam komunikasi visualnya. Perancangan menggunakan metode defining, gathering, ideating, synthesisdan realizing. Secara garis besar struktur aksara Jawa berbeda dengan huruf Latin sehingga digunakan panduan tipografi aksara Jawa. Bentuk implementasi dari aksara disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan penerapan di lokasi penelitian berupa signage, media cetak, merchandise, dan media internet. Hasil penelitian berupa typeface berbasis vektor sehingga masih terbuka peluang pengembangan menjadi font.

Abstract

This Illustrated Book as a Means of Preserving Balinese Culture was designed after seeing traditions and culture that are slowly being abandoned by the Balinese Hindu community, especially teenagers who are outside the island of Bali. Data collection through observation and interviews with sources from Hindu religious leaders in Bekasi who know about Banten Prayascita. The visual design process for illustration books using the Design Thinking and Style methods in flat design illustrations is taken for its modern, minimalist nature. The illustrations in the book refer to the original form of Banten, Serati Banten as a reference for supporting illustrations, and the color palette is taken from one of the components in Banten such as flowers, leaves, incense and coconut leaves, supergraphics designed from Banten components such as shrimp paste, thread, and so on. The design of promotional media using the work method uses the AISAS method. By designing this Illustrated Book, it is hoped that the Banten Prayascita tradition will be reintroduced to the young Balinese Hindu community and help preserve and inherit the Banten Prayascita tradition.

Abstract

Dance training for students of SLB B-C Hamong Putro which is carried out in the PKM program aims to realize the welfare of persons with disabilities which cannot be separated from the role and support of the community. Society must work together with the government to provide equal rights for persons with disabilities. Specifically, this training is intended to support students' cognitive abilities which include 1) intellectual abilities, knowledge, understanding, and thinking skills, 2) affective abilities including aspects of feelings, emotions, interests, how to appreciate, and self-adjustment, and 3) psychomotor abilities including the physical abilities and skills needed in the basic movements of dance. The method used includes the group investigation stage, the drill stage, and the creative form stage. The PKM program produced an opera performance entitled Hug the Soul and a draft of a scientific article.

Abstract

This article incorporate globalization issue in advertising industry in Indonesia, particulary in discussing the presence of dultural identity in global world context. The finding abaout the modus of advertising strategy gives comprehension on how commercial advertisement communicate the identitiy they were offered. Identitiy works in many patterns those used product figure, verbal language and visual symbol. Abstract

This study aims to design a brand identity of batik with vernacular typography. Vernacular typographyis typography with daily life character that is familiar with the activities of local community.Vernacular typography is used in this study because the types that are created by the previous researchdo not meet the needs of the product owners at batik center in Bayat, Klaten District. Themethod used is descriptive qualitative research to find qualitative data that is used as the base of thevernacular typography creating through the design process which is divided into four stages. Thestages covers assimilation, such as the collection and arrangement of information problem that isbeing studied; general studies, such as investigating the characteristics of the problem and possiblesolutions as well as tools and support materials; developing, creating and modifying; communicationconcerning the creative presentation of one or more solutions to the people inside and outside of theresearch team. Small scale industries such as batik center Bayat have disadvantages in accessingcreative sources because of the limited capital and opportunity. Therefore, this study becomes a helpfulthing in designing the brand identity for small industries. The results obtained include vernaculartypography design that is traced from the surrounding environment so that they produce specialtypefaces for example typographic style of batik motif, street-style typography, typographic styleengraving, handwriting-style typography, and free-style typography. Typographies that are generatedsubsequently applied in developing batik brand identity. Keywords: Typography, vernacular, brand, batik

Abstract

The rapid pace of technology in the 4.0 era constructs conventional transaction models into digital transactions with the growth of various digital startups. The use of digitalization for folk performing arts is still not maximally accommodated, even though the internet has spread to villages. Although various conceptions and discourses on the digitization of folk performing arts continue to roll out, they are only carried out by academics and only a small part of the performing arts community is able to utilize the internet and gadgets for means of communication and interaction with a wide audience. This study shows the utilization of digital internet technology that has changed the pattern of face to face interaction to screen to face through the digital application Senipedia.com as one of the start-ups engaged in the realm of folk performing arts development in Indonesia. The various benefits of marketing through the Senipedia.com digital application are becoming a meeting place for all groups to form the habit of assessing and being judged virtually, preserving cultural heritage and historical values that are useful in the future, and becoming an archive that can be reused as educational material that contains values of mutual cooperation, a sense of independence, freedom of expression, and the formation of mutual appreciation of folk performing arts through the digital-virtual world.

Abstract

Indonesian animation lack in using the potential of local culture is the basic reality for this artistic research. The animation creation that refering on the characteristics of traditional performing arts is the focus. This study uses an pratice-based research. Research procedures conducted in two phases, namely analysis and development/implementation. Analysis involves identifying and studing the research object (puppet motion as a reference) and the creation of animated cartoon films. The results of this artistic research showed that a) Elements such shadow puppets (Wayang Kulit) and Wayang Beber typical with their decorative can be applied in character and environment visualization, and provide imaginative effects, b) Movement shadow puppets have a body language that can be used as a reference animated cartoon motion c) the philosophy and meaning in shadow puppets movement is applied to the animated film that can make an animated cartoon has special characteristics and different from Western animation principles, and d) Performance of narrative animation that refers to Dalang’s narratives in shadow puppets making movies more typical Indonesian animation.keyword: film, cartoon, animation, tradition
