Abstract

This study aims to explore the factors influencing the preferences of non-Muslim customers towards Islamic banks in Muslim minority areas in Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed, with a sample of 232 non-Muslim customers participating as respondents. Data was collected using questionnaires administered directly to the participants and analyzed using exploratory factor analysis (CFA). The findings revealed four main preference factors: 1) access factors, encompassing variables related to facilities and location; 2) product quality factors, comprising variables pertaining to product, promotion, and reputation; 3) psychological factors, including variables of satisfaction, perception, and knowledge; and 4) socio-cultural factors, consisting of variables related to social status and religious status. These findings offer preliminary insights into the preferences of non-Muslim customers towards Islamic banks within Muslim minority areas in Indonesia. Further studies are warranted, particularly in non-Islamic countries aiming to establish Islamic banks. Moreover, future research can explore the formed variables using other analytical methods such as linear regression, discriminant analysis, or alternative analyses to deepen the understanding of Islamic banking development in Muslim minority regions. The outcomes of this study contribute valuable insights for Islamic banks to consider when developing banking services for non-Muslim customers, thereby promoting the growth of Islamic banking in Muslim minority areas. This research also adds to the existing literature on non-Muslim customer preferences in Islamic banks within Muslim minority areas.======================================================================================================== ABSTRAK – Preferensi Nasabah Non-Muslim terhadap Bank Syariah dalam Wilayah Minoritas Muslim di Indonesia. Abstract

Various efforts have been made by the leadership of Islamic Higher Education institutions to prevent the infiltration of radical ideologies on their campuses. These efforts range from internalizing religious moderation to monitoring deviant student organizations, both of which have been intensively pursued by institutional leaders. However, since the declaration of these initiatives, there has been no empirical evaluation to assess whether students in Islamic Higher Education, particularly in Papua and West Papua, have a proper understanding of the concept of moderate Islam. This gap could hinder policymakers' ability to effectively combat the spread of radical ideas. This study employs a mixed-method approach, surveying 1,309 students from three Islamic Higher Education institutions in West Papua: IAIN Sorong, STIT Yapis Manokwari, and STAI Al Mahdi Fakfak. The quantitative component consists of surveys designed to evaluate key indicators of religious moderation, including tolerance, anti-violence attitudes, and national commitment—critical factors that influence pro-violent extremism views in Islamic Higher Education. Additionally, qualitative studies were conducted through focus group discussions with selected key informants to gain deeper insight into the students' understanding, actions, and efforts to build moderation capacity. The study’s findings revealed that, although students' knowledge of religious moderation is relatively high, the factors of tolerance and anti-violence attitudes are strong predictors of pro-violent extremism. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen the role of "moderation houses" from an institutional perspective, and integrated programs must serve as the foundation for building religious moderation capacity, particularly for students in Islamic Higher Education.

Abstract

This study aims to explain Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based formative assessment in learning and reveal the principle of constructivism in comprehensively building students' high-level thinking skills. Literature studies are used as a research method. Relevant literature derived from books and articles in scientific e-journals was collected through documentation techniques. Furthermore, the data obtained was analyzed for content. The results show that HOTS-based formative assessment is the key to improving the quality of learning. This assessment trains students to think critically, analyze, and solve problems independently. In addition, teachers can also get more accurate feedback on student learning development so that they can provide appropriate interventions. The theory of constructivism provides a solid foundation for developing HOTS-based formative assessments. These assessments measure students' learning achievements but also encourage students to think critically, creatively, and independently. By consistently implementing HOTS-based formative assessments, it can create graduates with the competencies needed to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze students’ interests before and after study program accreditation, the effect of accreditation grade, and attempt to increase the value of accreditation. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with a sample of 218 participants for quantitative data and ten informants for qualitative data. The data were collected by using interviews, focus group discussion, observation, and questionnaires. To analyze the data, triangulation is performed to display the frequency distribution, and simple regression analysis is also carried out to find the data related to the effect of the accreditation. Study results expose that firstly, there was a significant improvement in the students’ interest after study program accreditation with an average of 87.5%. Secondly, the accreditation grade gave a positive and significant effect on students’ interest in choosing study programs at a public Islamic university in West Papua, Indonesia. Lastly, there were several endeavors taken into account to increase accreditation score, i.e. synergizing an integrated internal quality assurance system, having an acceleration program for students’ length of study, digitizing students’ admission system, enhancing digital-based learning models, and increasing lecturers’ competence in academic writing, community service, and publication. The present study suggests that the quality of study program accreditation should be a pivotal concern in organizing Islamic higher education

Abstract

Quality assurance of higher education (QAHE) is a crucial issue in facing the challenges of the Society 5.0 era, where the integration of advanced technology and humanities is the main focus. This systematic literature review analyzes current trends and prospects of QAHE in the 5.0 era. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method, we identify, filter, and analyze scientific articles from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar published between 2020 and 2025. The results show that the QAHE trend in the 5.0 era has shifted from a traditional approach that focuses on administrative compliance to a more holistic and adaptive paradigm. Key findings include: (1) the use of artificial intelligence and big data analytics for data-driven decision-making; (2) a shift in focus from input-output to outcomes-based education that emphasizes the relevance of graduates to industry needs; (3) the adoption of agile approaches and flexible curriculum design; and (4) an emphasis on cross-cultural competencies and non-technical skills such as creativity, collaboration, and ethics. The study concludes that QAHE in the 5.0 era demands fundamental reforms, where collaboration between academia, industry, and government is key to creating a resilient and relevant education ecosystem. Prospects indicate deeper integration between technology and the humanities, shaping a more personalized, adaptive, and sustainability-oriented model of QAHE.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing ISO 21001:2018, the Quality Management System, in State Islamic Universities and its contribution to improving the quality and outcomes of institutional accreditation. This research used a literature study approach, reviewing books, indexed international and national scientific articles, the web (internet), and several other relevant literature sources. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion/ verification. The results of the study show that the effectiveness of ISO 21001 implementation in State Islamic Universities is influenced by three main factors: transformational leadership, the internalization of a quality culture, and the integration of digital-based quality systems. All three encourage the creation of transparent, efficient, and sustainable academic governance. In addition, the implementation of ISO 21001 has been proven to strengthen the alignment between the internal quality assurance system and the BAN-PT national accreditation standards through an evidence-based approach. The integration of Islamic values, such as ihsan, amanah, and istiqamah, also enriches the implementation of the quality system by adding distinctive ethical and spiritual dimensions. This study concludes that ISO 21001:2018 is not only an administrative instrument, but also a reflective framework that forms a culture of sustainable quality in State Islamic Universities. The study’s results recommend policy synergy among the Ministry of Religion, BAN-PT, and ISO certification bodies to expand the adoption of a spirituality-based quality system and global standards in the Indonesian Islamic higher education environment.
