Abstract

Activated carbon is an adsorbent commonly used in adsorption methods for waste treatment due to its high adsorption capacity and simple preparation. Nevertheless, activated carbon also has limitations, such as low adsorption efficiency, which necessitates the use of supporting materials to resolve these weaknesses. TiO₂ a semiconductor material used in photocatalysis for waste treatment, has the advantage of reducing contaminants through decomposition processes. Nevertheless, TiO₂ also has disadvantages, such as a low adsorption capacity and a tendency to agglomerate. To resolve the limitations of both activated carbon and TiO₂, a method of combining these materials is employed. The addition of TiO₂ to activated carbon through sonication disperses TiO₂ particles on the surface of the activated carbon particles, filling the pores inside the activated carbon structure and creating additional micro and mesopores. This process enhances the porosity and surface area of the activated carbon. This study is intended to determine the effect of TiO₂  addition ratio and HCl activator concentration on the quality of the activated carbon. The research methodology involves activating the carbon with HCl and addition of  TiO₂  in specific ratios through sonication. The best results were obtained with a treatment using 1 M HCl concentration and  5% TiO₂ addition ratio, which resulted in activated carbon with a surface area of 4257 m²/g. The addition of TiO₂ to HCl-activated carbon significantly increases the surface area compared to activated carbon without TiO₂.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper is known to be susceptible to various types of flooding by showing various negative responses. This study seeks to ascertain the influence of PGPR on the adverse effects of floods on cayenne pepper as a means to mitigate farmer losses. The study used a completely randomized design on cayenne pepper which was given treatments in the form of control without PGPR (K(-)), control with PGPR (K(+)), flooding treatment for 2 days with PGPR 7 days later (P(+)) and without PGPR (P(-)) each with 10 reps. The two-way ANOVA test reflected that flooding had a significant effect on the response of plant height increase, petiole curvature angle, and wilting. In contrast, PGPR application had a significant effect on plant height increase and number of branches. The interaction of flooding and PGPR application significantly affects the increase in plant height but not the number of leaves, the number of branches, the angle of curvature of the petiole, and wilting. It was concluded that the application of PGPR can reduce the adverse effects of flooding on cayenne pepper farming.

Abstract

Indonesia, as one of the most populous countries in the world, presents a potential market for the growth of various types of social media. However, the rapid penetration of social media has not been matched by a good level of literacy among its users, leading to a tendency for social media use to have negative implications. The literacy instruments used to measure media literacy certainly need a quality analysis to ensure that the instruments developed can indeed measure what they intend to measure. Rasch Model instrument analysis can be a way to assess the quality of the developed instruments. This study is a developmental research aimed at developing a media literacy instrument. The analysis in this article is conducted to describe the quality of the media literacy instrument that has been developed. The subjects in this study are 421 response patterns to a set of questionnaire statements consisting of 25 items on a Likert scale with four alternative answers. Based on the research conducted, it was found that out of the 25 items tested, they have good validity and reliability. However, among the 25 statements tested, there are 4 statements that are considered less fit or less effective in measuring media literacy indicators. Out of 421 respondents, 17.58% of respondents have high literacy skills, 72.2% have moderate media literacy skills, and the remaining 10.2% have low media literacy.

Abstract

Delays and vehicle queues are often observed during the closure of railway crossing gates, causing an increase in the time required to pass through a road section. Delays at level crossings lead to traffic congestion and fuel wastage for vehicles. Therefore, a case study on traffic volume is necessary to understand traffic conditions and analyze fuel consumption at railway level crossings. This research was carried out at level crossings on Urip Sumoharjo and Kamboja roads. The survey was carried out over three days on Tuesday and Thursday to represent weekdays, Sunday to represent weekends. Vehicle fuel consumption analysis used the ATIS India and IJIRT methods. The analysis results showed that fuel consumption using the ATIS India and IJIRT methods indicated that the level crossing on Urip Sumoharjo Street had the highest loss value, with an average fuel consumption during the study of 101,08 liters/hour for the ATIS India method and 108,91 liters/hour for the IJIRT method.

Abstract

Industrialization in Indonesia contributes significantly to increased emissions. PT XYZ as a seasoning producer faces challenges in managing the environmental impact of its supply chain activities, especially in seasoning flour products which have the highest productivity reaching 25,793 tons in 2023. This study aims to measure the level of emissions generated during the supply chain process of seasoning flour products using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method with a gate to gate approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews and secondary data collection from company documents related to process procedures, energy consumption, raw material usage, and supply chain operational data. Data was processed using SimaPro 9.0 software with the ReCiPe 2016 Midpoint method. The results showed a high level of emissions. The terrestrial acidification category reached 4.97 kg.SO₂, far above the standard limit of 600 mg.SO₂ per year. Normalization results identified the production stage as the largest contributor with three categories of marine ecotoxicity (27.3), freshwater ecotoxicity (17.5), and human carcinogenic toxicity (13.5). The high emissions are caused by significant electricity consumption for operational systems and production machinery, as well as transportation use. Recommendations for improvement include optimizing production energy, managing machine operating time, utilizing solar panels, and others.

Abstract

Anti-corruption education (ACC), especially in formal education at primary and secondary levels, is a strategic step to eradicate corruption in forming a generation with integrity and anti-corruption. However, the Regional Head Regulation on PAK, as the legal basis for the integration of anti-corruption values in the curriculum in education units, its implementation shows significant variations between local governments. This study analyzes the implementation of the PAK regulation in primary and secondary education, and evaluates its success through a descriptive qualitative approach. The results show that although 83% of local governments have issued regulations, implementation at the school level still varies. The main constraints include lack of understanding, teacher training and technical guidance. Success factors include adherence to good governance principles, completeness of regulations and effective socialization. This study recommends improved coordination between local governments and education units, continuous training for teachers, provision of innovative materials, and regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure the consistency of regulation implementation and the effectiveness of anti-corruption education implementation.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially in the snack industry sector, such as cassava crackers, play an important role in supporting the Indonesian economy through job creation and contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, MSMEs often face challenges in maintaining and expanding their market share amid increasingly fierce competition. This study aims to analyse the role of social capital in strengthening market segmentation strategies at Sadariyah Cassava Crackers Business in Blitar Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The informants in this study were five people, consisting of business owners, employees, regular customers, and local community leaders. The results show that social capital, which includes strong social networks, trust between businesses and consumers, and the application of local social norms such as gotong royong, contributes significantly to expanding the market and maintaining customer loyalty. The market segmentation strategy applied based on demographic, psychographic, and consumer behaviour factors proved effective in reaching various customer groups. These findings imply that the synergy between social capital and the right market segmentation strategy can improve the competitiveness of MSMEs in a competitive market and promote sustainable business growth.
