Abstract

Quality management of Zakat, Infaq, and Shadaqah (ZIS) funds is essential for alleviating poverty in Kediri City, where the number of poor residents reached 21,030 in 2023. ZIS distribution programs must align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to support the government's efforts toward sustainable development. This research uses a case study approach at BAZNAS Kediri City. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with leaders, staff, and beneficiaries, and document analysis related to ZIS fund management for poverty alleviation and SDG implementation. Qualitative data analysis was conducted to gain insights into management practices at BAZNAS Kediri. The findings indicate that ZIS fund management at BAZNAS begins with planning through the Annual Work Plan and Budget (RKAT). In 2023, the total distribution reached IDR 2,553,245,369, benefiting 7,292 individuals. This accounts for 34.67% of the poor population in Kediri, with 4 beneficiaries lifted out of poverty through productive business capital assistance. However, BAZNAS’s distribution is mainly consumptive due to insufficient oversight of productive assistance. Additionally, BAZNAS reports its activities periodically for accountability. BAZNAS Kediri has integrated its programs with the SDGs, although three goals clean and affordable energy, marine ecosystems, and terrestrial ecosystems remain unrealized. This is due to prioritizing ZIS fund distribution for programs that enhance the economy, education, health, and outreach. Furthermore, there is a lack of detailed planning regarding the SDGs in the RKAT.

Abstract

This article discusses the impact of implementing Spontaneous Group Discussion (SGD) in a senior high school experimental class. Challenges during speaking practice in the classroom lead to the students having reduced motivation to speak English. SGD is suggested as a way to address this issue by evaluating its efficacy in comparison to a traditional approach. This research employs a quasi-experimental design with pretest and post-test assessments. The analysis showed the result of this research that F (2,85) = 26.591, P 0.000 < 0.05. From the result a notable difference emerged between the experimental and control groups, resulting in the dismissal of the null hypothesis which posited that both strategies (SGD technique and GTM) are identical. Research findings indicate that SGD is more efficient for learning speech, allowing students to rapidly grasp important lessons related to the teacher's chosen topic. Hence, teachers may find value in using the findings of this research when instructing students on English speaking skills.

Abstract

Centrifugal pumps are extensively used in industries and water management systems, where accurate measurements of water flow rate and pump head are essential for evaluating performance. However, inaccuracies arising from suboptimal designs of training kits present challenges in educational environments. This study aimed to optimize a centrifugal pump training kit to enhance measurement accuracy and reliability. The research was conducted over four months, involving modifications to the impeller, casing, and pressure measurement systems, along with rigorous calibration to minimize errors. Measurements of suction pressure, discharge pressure, water flow rate, and pump head were repeated under standardized conditions to ensure data consistency. The results demonstrated significant improvements, with consistent measurements of suction pressure (21 inHg), discharge pressure (15 PSI), water flow rate (0.5 L/s), and pump head (1.38 mH₂O). These optimizations reduced system inefficiencies, such as backflow and turbulence, and enhanced the kit’s ability to replicate real-world operating conditions. The improved training kit provides students with a reliable tool for practical learning, bridging theoretical concepts with real-world applications in fluid mechanics. This study underscores the importance of continual enhancement of laboratory teaching tools to support effective education and industrial relevance.
