Abstract

Saritani Village, located in a remote area with limited distribution access, remains food-insecure despite the predominance of agriculture-based livelihoods. This study aims to examine household food consumption pattern and identify the key factors influencing food diversification among farming households in Saritani Vilage, Wonosari Sub-district, Boalemo Regency. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing multiple linear regression analysis. Data werw collected through surveys, inetrviews, and structured qusetionnaires. Results indicate that the average daily energy adequacy (1,732 kcal/gram/day) remains below the recommended threshold. The education level of housewives demonstrated a statistically significant but negative effect on food diversification. Similarly, the number of household dependents had a negative impact. In contrast, household expenditure positively influenced diversification, while food availability, although positively correlated, did not exhibit a statistically significant effect. These findings highlight the need for strategic interventions to promote food diversification and improve food security in rural, agriculture-dependent communities such as Saritani Village.

Abstract

Food security policies have been established covering aspects of food availability, distribution and price stability, food access, and supporting policies. Stable food prices are generally also desired by the public because highly fluctuating prices have implications for the risks and uncertainties that must be faced in making decisions when prices fluctuate beyond the normal limits of price stabilisation, so the Government immediately intervenes, for example when price increases occur in rice commodities. Food price volatility will have a long-term impact on producer income and disrupt commodity trading activities and will make strategic commodity price fluctuations that occur causing food commodity market players, both producers and consumers, to experience difficulties in carrying out economic activities. Therefore, a risk analysis of food commodity prices is needed so that price fluctuations can be resolved immediately. Domestic prices fluctuate so much that this research is important to do to determine the volatility of the retail price of rice as the main food in East Java. Based on ARCH / GACRH analysis, the best model for rice price volatility at the consumption level is ARIMA (1,1) - GARCH (1,0), the volatility value obtained is 0.53 which is included in the low volatility level. While the relationship between rice price volatility and average weekly consumption per capita which illustrates the level of food security is 0.940, so there is a close relationship. So that the government is obliged to make policies so that rice prices remain stable at the consumer level, so that there are no price spikes that will affect food security.

Abstract

Household-scale banana processing enterprises managed by women in Seruyan Regency hold strategic potential to increase income and empower rural women economically. This study aims to: (1) analyze income from kepok banana processing businesses, (2) measure the value added generated from processing activities, and (3) explore forms of women's empowerment within the traditional food value chain. A mixed-methods approach was employed. Quantitative data were analyzed using income formulas and the Hayami method, while qualitative data were thematically analyzed through in-depth interviews with 15 female business owners. The results show an average net income of IDR 142,351 per production cycle, with a value-added ratio of 90.83% of the output value. Women played a central role in production and business decision-making. Beyond economic contribution, this activity enhances women's control over productive assets and fosters self-confidence and social participation. These findings suggest that banana processing is a multidimensional empowerment strategy that supports local food security and rural resilience.

Abstract

Advancing technology has enabled the creation of safer and more efficient payment systems, such as mobile application payments via QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard). QRIS usage is not only applied in modern markets but has also been implemented in traditional markets. With the adoption of QRIS across various sectors, including traditional markets, it is expected to bring significant changes to transaction patterns that are typically cash-based. Despite its implementation, not all traders in traditional markets adopt QRIS technology due to limited knowledge and understanding of the technology and concerns about the security of digital payments. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze traders' perceptions of QRIS usage in traditional markets. This study will involve a sample of 75 respondents who are staple goods traders in Pucang Anom traditional market in Surabaya. The factors to be examined include ease of use, perceived benefits, credibility, and frequency of use. The results will be analyzed using the Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. By analyzing these factors, this study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the interest in using QRIS among staple goods traders in Pucang Anom traditional market. It is also hoped that this research will offer insights for policy development and more effective educational strategies to encourage QRIS adoption among traders in traditional markets, especially in the Pucang Anom area of Surabaya.

Abstract

Mr. Kuswardi's tofu agroindustry has been operating since 1996. Despite its longevity, the business faces several challenges, including declining demand due to market competition and limited promotional efforts, which still rely on word of mouth. Additionally, the utilization of tofu waste remains suboptimal, even though tofu dregs have economic potential if processed properly. This study aims to analyze the business performance and formulate appropriate marketing strategies for the tofu agroindustry. The research was conducted from January to April 2025 using a case study method. Respondents consisted of those involved in determining SWOT and AHP components. The results showed that the total cost of raw materials was IDR 22.137.500,00, and the total production cost in December 2024 was IDR 40.748.438,00. The business earned total revenue of IDR 57,750,000.00 and a profit of IDR 17.001.563,00. The final product value was IDR 30.000,00, and the value of other inputs was IDR 1.720,00. The Revenue-Cost Ratio (RCR) of 1.4 indicates that the business is financially feasible. The added value per unit of tofu production was IDR 16.780, with a value-added ratio of 56%. Marketing is carried out through a single channel: zero-level marketing, where products are sold directly to consumers. The recommended marketing strategy for Mr. Kuswardi's tofu agro-industry is to collaborate with local shops or stalls so that product distribution is more stable and even and to utilize social media as a means of promotion to expand market reach.

Abstract

Agrotourism is an alternative form of tourism that utilizes Indonesia’s natural wealth, such as agriculture, plantations, livestock, and forestry, as attractions for tourists. The number of visitors to Mupu Jeruk agrotourism has fluctuated, tending to stagnate with an average value of 0.0006%. This indicates the need for an effective marketing strategy, especially through the application of marketing mix models. This study aims to describe the implementation of the 7P marketing mix and to identify the 7P marketing mix variables which need improvement. In this study, the researcher used descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach and a case study method. The result shows that (1) The product strategy includes the availability of an orange-picking attraction for visitors and two additional facilities, namely a restaurant and a café. (2) The cost-based pricing strategy applied is still quite affordable for visitors. (3) The location strategy is good because of strategic location and easy access. (4) Promotional strategies via social media still need to be improved and promotional discounts on tourist prices must be consistently carried out. (5) By having a training process and providing appropriate SOPs to employees, the services and employee skills are rated well by visitors. (6) The service process planning consumer convenience, with various payment methods. (7) Mupu Jeruk supports consumer activities well, as seen from the physical facilities including toilets and mushola, but Mupu Jeruk needs to improve their parking area and also add signs in the entrance.

Abstract

While the number of female-gendered small industry entrepreneurs is growing, research in this area has not kept pace. This article critically reviews the current situation of women entrepreneurs in rural areas. We analyze the social, cultural, organizational and individual barriers that women entrepreneurs may face. This study interviewed 23 women entrepreneurs who own small agro-industries in Tasikmalaya district, a pilot project area for small agro-industry development in West Java. Our findings show that self efficacy is a common individual problem among rural women entrepreneurs, in addition to their suboptimal organizational capacity. Meanwhile, social and cultural barriers are currently minimal in rural areas. To improve self-efficacy, a personal approach is needed in the form of training, mentoring, and social support. Meanwhile, to improve organizational capacity, it is necessary to strengthen structural aspects such as management, technology, networking, and financing. We argue for the need to adopt more critical approaches, such as feminist discourse analysis and critical socio-technological perspectives to inform future research, and explain various phenomena related to women's entrepreneurship that have not been adequately studied.

Abstract

Local knowledge is an integral part of cultural heritage that develops through the collective experiences of communities in interacting with their natural, social, and cultural environments. One form of this local knowledge is the maintenance of albino buffalo (Kerbau Bule), which are cared for by the abdi dalem (royal servants) of the Surakarta Palace. The local knowledge possessed by the abdi dalem in maintaining these buffalo reflects a spiritual, ecological, social, and human relationship within the context of Javanese culture. This study aims to examine the local knowledge system of abdi dalem in the care of albino buffalo, viewed through the lens of the five principles of livestock management (panca usaha ternak). The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach, involving informants from both the abdi dalem and the local community around the buffalo enclosure. The results of this study show that the practice of buffalo maintenance is based on conventional livestock techniques, guided by cultural values passed down through generations. This knowledge encompasses five key aspects: breeding and reproduction, feeding, general animal husbandry practices, housing, and animal health. The maintenance of the Kerbau Bule in the enclosure located at Alun-alun Kidul also serves as a tourist attraction and provides positive economic impacts for the surrounding local community.
