Abstract

This article discusses the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) and its application in the context of education, specifically Islamic education. TQM is an approach that encompasses two interconnected concepts: the philosophy of continuous improvement and methods such as brainstorming and field analysis to enhance quality. The article explains that TQM is a holistic and systematic approach aimed at achieving long-term excellence in quality, with a focus on customers and a commitment to continuous improvement. The concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) in education addresses aspects such as customer service, participation of all relevant parties, measurement of graduate quality, stakeholder commitment, and continuous improvement. The success of TQM is measured through customer satisfaction levels, both among students and parents. Awareness of individual responsibility and collaboration within the educational community are crucial for the implementation of TQM. In addressing the challenges of Islamic education, this article proposes the application of the TQM approach, which includes important aspects such as customer focus, participation of all relevant parties, evidence-based approach, leadership commitment, and systemic approach. The article provides an in-depth analysis that by applying TQM principles, educational institutions can create an environment focused on continuous improvement, resulting in better educational quality and the development of outstanding human resources.   Keywords: Quality Management, Islamic Education, Educational Management

Abstract

Sufism is shrouded with many polemics which keep thickened by the day. The gap between the anti and pro-Sufi scholars continues to widen with time. As the former scholars intensified efforts to discredit Sufism, the latter strengthened moves to consolidate it in Islam. One of the scholars both sides relied on in their discussions is Ibn Al-Jawzī. Talbīs Iblīs, which forms the kernel of discussions in this paper, is one of his works on Sufism. It is often said that the work is an attack on Sufism, but the Sufis denied this, stating that it is just an appraisal of different groups that make up Islam. The effort here is to critique various mystical themes in the work vis-à-vis Sufis’ renditions to determine their level of correlation or otherwise. Historical and exegetical methods are adopted. The former availed the opportunity to dig into relevant historical facts, while the latter assisted in analyzing his submissions on Sufism. It is discovered that Ibn Al-Jawzī was not particular about Sufism, but all groups of Muslims identified how Iblīs deluded each. Also, he did not entirely condemn Sufism but considered some doctrines and practices strange therein. His submissions were guided by his little practice of Sufism and observations of Sufis of his time. The paper concluded that Ibn Al-Jawzī's effort is not different from Ahmad Ibn Hanbalī's among his precursors and Ibn Taymiyyah among his successors.               Keywords: cAqīdah, Iblīs, Ibn Al-Jawzī, Sufism, Raqṣ, Zuhd

Abstract

Students have an unfavorable perception of Islamic Religious Education as an academic subject taught in institutions. Islamic Religious Education is often associated with the notion that these lessons consist mainly of boring lecture-based teaching. The lecture approach, consisting mostly of verses from the Koran and Hadith in Arabic, often prevents students from actively participating in the lesson material. Therefore, researchers attempt to eliminate this negative connotation by applying the Dick and Carey model in the context of Islamic Religious Education, with special emphasis on the subject of "Al-Quran Inspiration for Environmental Conservation." This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the Dick and Carey Model in the context of learning Islamic Religious Education at the Middle School level. The Dick and Carey model was chosen because it is considered to be able to improve the current Islamic Religious Education learning model through ten methodical stages designed to improve the quality of learning in the classroom. The model mentioned above shows methodical attributes, which include the stages of developing learning outcomes, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance. This research uses a qualitative research approach, collecting information through interviews and observations. The research results show that the application of the Dick and Carey model effectively improves the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning, especially regarding "Quranic Inspiration for Environmental Conservation." The results of this research provide positive implications for the development of Islamic Religious Education learning strategies in junior high schools. The Dick and Carey model can be used as a reference for educators to design more structured and effective learning plans, by adapting the stages of the model to the context of religious education. This research contributes to efforts to improve the quality of Islamic religious education in formal education environments.   Keywords: Dick and Carey, Learning Model, Islamic Education
